I'd agree with that, yeah. Hate to sound like a fag or anything, but Blackbird's solo has just got such great emotion to it. I mean, the whole song does, but still.
I have a reflexive contempt for Christianity, but I'm not sure Christian rock should be considered a genre, since idk if genres should be defined by subject matter. That said, in just about any genre grouped by subject matter, a sound often emerges, and Christian rock is no different. I'd say the Christian rock sound is very sleekly produced post-grunge, which Creed likely had some influence on, and is probably best defined by bands like Skillet and Newsboys. However, a lot of the really defining Christian rock bands don't fit that sound, like Stryper, who are a glam metal band.
There is a Christian metalcore/hardcore genre, and I'm split on that. The Chariot is a famous band, and they're fantastic, one of the best metalcore bands. However, there's a bunch of terrible Christcore like Sleeping Giant and For Today as well.
My favorite Christian band is 16 Horsepower. I'm not sure whether or not to consider their songwriter's later band, Wovenhand, Christian as well though, because when he was in 16 Horsepower he was a really intense evangelical Christian who kinda drove everybody crazy, but he'd matured by the time he started Wovenhand and had become a spiritual seeker, partially because he was taking care of his son who has Down Syndrome. He started exploring everything from Sufism to shamanism, and it shows up in the music.
mewithoutYou, a post-hardcore band, is a very similar story, the guy started out as a very self-righteous Christian, and then drifted into being vaguely spiritual has he learned more about other religions.
There are actually a couple great Christian shoegaze bands, Starflyer 59 and Lift to Experience.
There's a Christian celtic punk/oi! band called Flatfoot 56 that's fun.
>mewithoutYou, a post-hardcore band, is a very similar story, the guy started out as a very self-righteous Christian, and then drifted into being vaguely spiritual has he learned more about other religions.
Are you asking if I like bands where some or all of the members are outspoken Christians, or generic, mediocre radio butt rock with lyrics about Jesus shoe-horned in like that South Park episode? Either way the answer is no
I'm Christian and I like rock, but I don't like Christian rock. Like Hank Hill said, "You're not making Christianity better, you're just making rock and roll worse".
cool story bros
the year was 2002 I was in spanish class a conversation over creed comes up after it was displayed on classroom tv announcements, chubby girl sitting behind me starts conversation with me on how great creed is and how she had seen them play live, I thought of creed, of how nickleback is looked down on today. i was a tool, a perfect circle fag in those days. after about a minute of her yapping i snapped back and told her these exact words, "shut the fuck up you fat stupid ugly bitch" the schhol conselor made me apologize or i would get suspended, girls in her group call me mean for the rest of hs screwin up my chanses on some chubby good good. years later I enjoy creed songs for what they are, I also saw scott stapp play at buzzfest2019 , and thought he still sounded great, did i overreact bros?

Besides the dude on the left (brown shirt) they are all ugly and I would rather be her tbh
flyleaf is very not good, maybe I'm filtered by the singer.
>flyleaf
>not good
Never got the Flyleaf hate here. Good band and I loved Lacey Mosley's vocals.
Never really seen them hated here, or anyone talk about them in general here. They did blow it after the second album though

It can be good.
Chevelle became significantly worse as soon as they started dropping the christian aspect from the band
Point #1 deserves a remaster
I honestly wonder if Albini ruined that album on purpose. One of the worst sounding albums I have ever listened to
That motherfucker does it again
I had no idea it was professionally done tbh sounds like a home recording
Great songs though
>albini
>professionally done
lol
after looking up Point #1 i’ve just discovered where eminem stole his logo from.
Fucking Kek he actually did
the timeline matches perfectly too, it was after sslp had just came out in which he doesn’t have the backwards E

Ruined themselves by turning into douchecore. Some of their weird early stuff is alright

Mark Tremonti is a criminally underrated guitarist, that's for sure.
His solo stuff is great but nothing will top the solo on Blackbird
I'd agree with that, yeah. Hate to sound like a fag or anything, but Blackbird's solo has just got such great emotion to it. I mean, the whole song does, but still.
Creed's Feed and Seed
Unironically calling creed Christian rock
Kek
They are Christian, retard.
They are Christian that doesn't me then Christian rock you fucking moron
My Own Prison is the only good Creed song.
You meant Ode, anon.
No.
creed is based

Not really, but I like post grunge, shoegaze and metal, so Creed, Starflyer 59 and Stryper are alll great.
you forgot advent
>mewithoutYou, a post-hardcore band, is a very similar story, the guy started out as a very self-righteous Christian, and then drifted into being vaguely spiritual has he learned more about other religions.
And they got worse and worse after every release.

I understand the problem with the later, but what's exactly the problem of someone in a band being christian?
[deleted post]
In the garbage where it belongs
I love Reliant K
yes i like starflyer 59 a lot
I believe just about every genre can have atleast one song that you can like, regardless of preference.
Christian rock is the one exception
>Christian rock is the one exception
imagine being this wrong
christian rock is a fuckin broad term

I like Christian stuff, but only when it's good.

There is only one decent Christian Rock band and its Live.
