I live at the bottom of a mountain and my commute is on the other side of it. There is no tunnel and you have to go way fricking far out of the way to go around. So every day I am flooring the gas uphill and killing my mileage. I'm not super conservative, but I don't exactly like increasing my costs to get to work.
That's a trade-off I suppose, but the way back is so slammed by traffic that it is stop and go on a decline. I can roll down at 90mph in the dead of night but npcs get scared and slam the brakes to the floor the entire way down with nothing in front of them and clear visibility.
Yeah but when you're going down the other side you use no fuel right?

If you drive electric car, the drive downward would give you back your battery a charge, ofcourse its not free energy, as you fight it out against the gravity in the first place, but return trip gives some of that back.
Yes, 405 is a complete shithole every single day. Once I'm able to get done with my pilot training then I'm going to leave this shithole to go back to the country.
It's not the worst but it's noticably a lot less fun than my old commute.
Used to drive ~20 miles away from the city to get to work and at least over half was back roads with little to no other drivers going my direction. Now it's like 8 miles of getting straight into the city and usually involves at least 10+ red lights, another 10+ stop signs, merging into a busy interstate only to jump right off of it. Usually takes 20-35 minutes depending on when and what direction. the fact that I only ever have to go in 3 days a week max though is nice.
I used to when driving from the city. Then I moved further away into the boonies, and with no traffic I have a faster commute even though I'm further away.
Also been working from home for 3 years now so I rarely come into the office. $30 per day saved on fuel and food
>cursed portlander
you did this to yourself, and only have yourself to blame
I work for Intel 🙁
I currently commute from Gresham to Hillsboro 2 days a week. I bought a house out there, but I have to rent-back until mid September 🙁
LMAO
Just get a box truck and live in there. Saves you thousands of dollars per month.
>Saves you thousands of dollars per month
My car gets 13-14 mpg, so probably accurate lol.
I used to. It was 35 miles. It wasn't too rare for it to take 2 hours. It's taken 3+ before on rare occasions. Fricking terrible. I quit that job.
Go away Dj
No because I'm not a wagie.

That return is negligible
It's a marketing gimmick, like solar
Yeah but that anon doesn't want a gender reassignment surgery.
Gender is social not physical, hence sex dont matter.
Also Gender is physical, not social, so resurgery is necessary.
Nah, live in the city, work in the burbs. Traffic’s always going the other way.
yeah, to work!
*cracks up*
*slaps knee*
I curse a lot when I commute. Then again, I curse a lot.

My commute is only 5km and even then I can work from home if I don't feel like it.
