Do people actually wear these things with NATO straps? They’re fucking hideous.

Do people actually wear these things with NATO straps? They’re hecking hideous. Sure, the original strap is prone to breaking, but I’d rather pay $10 every year or so than wear one of those abominations.

Tbh I prefer this on single-pass nylon.

Some people should actually wear smaller watches. And for what it’s worth, g-shocks are too tall and gaudy for the most part.

    • Anonymous says:

if the hidden lugs bother you, you can just buy a 20mm nato and melt the strap a little bit with a torch around the lugs for a flush look, or you can just buy a F-84W instead.

g shocks are too bulky for running, and there aren’t a lot of good g shock choices for small wrists.
they’re all cheap watches, so it’s not like anything is stopping you from owning both.

the only 3 watches you will ever need

      pretty much this
maybe throw in a square g shock just because they’re so cheap
i would personally go with a dive watch or field watch over the timex, fits my wardrobe a bit better.

I agree. I dislike both the look and just as importantly the feel against the skin of everything but the original strap. Over the years I’ve tried wearing other watches but they are never as good as this one with its original strap or a unofficial equivalent. You can buy unofficial/fake replacement straps off ebay though cheaper versions are not super common/easy to locate like you might think, I buy a ton at a time. You are completely right.

It is the perfect watch + strap. It could only be improved if they could add new functions while keeping the same weight, size, feel of buttons, and so on. But no other watch does this.

      see

lmao please tell me you’re not serious. g-shocks are middle schooler-tier

      • Anonymous says:

        >samefag
Having said this, I’m looking at ebay now and there are tons around. I guess when I was buying them a long time ago there wasn’t as many. I can confirm though that the replacements are pretty much just as good as the original though if I was nitpicking I would probably choose the original.

you want me to drive home, pick up my phone, and call someone, and somehow that will make sure that I can check the time when I’m out? Does that make any sense?

  1. Anonymous says:

The NATOs look ridiculous so I stick with the regular strap. I don’t get why people say it’s prone to breaking, I’ve worn mine while swimming, showering, hiking etc for almost 3 years now.

  2. Anonymous says:

NATO strap is just a cloth strap, right? Sounds like a huge comfort improvement over the weird plasticky one it comes with.

  3. Anonymous says:

The reason they look like shit is because they don’t flair out to meet the watch like the original strap. Just sew a little trapezoid on them like this and they’ll look fine.

    • Anonymous says:

to me it looks more like shit selection of color for the two right
show trapezoid and no-trapezoid in same strap color

    • Anonymous says:

The issue just seems to be that the stock strap is tapered and nato straps aren’t. I can’t imagine that it’d be impossible for non nato nylon straps to be tapered, so maybe that would work? I can’t seem to find any online even though there are lots of tapered leather and silicone straps, but I’m sure somebody has seen them somewhere.

    • Anonymous says:

I really like the look of this. Thinking about getting this with this F-91W and trying this nato + trapezoid thing. What color nato strap should I get if I do?

      • Anonymous says:

Honestly I think it looks dope with the clear strap

if you’ve ever had a clear phone case you’d know that that strap will turn brown after like 4 months of every day use

  4. Anonymous says:

i was thinking of using a nato just because it more comfortable especially in the summer, that rubber makes u sweat

  5. Anonymous says:

Yes, ugly autistic people do. A watch is a convenience and a fashion accessory. this shit is like a walmart fedora and a nato strap is like finishing off the look with a party city dracula cape.

    • Anonymous says:

      >and a nato strap is like finishing off the look with a party city dracula cape
wtf I love nato straps now?

  6. Anonymous says:

The ops pic model looks ridiculous. If your wrists are too small and you dont want to spend a lot of money just get a seiko.
    Pic related is my gshock.

  7. Anonymous says:

The F-91W is yet another overrated /g/ meme, the strap on mine broke after a few months.

At the very least is cheap, but I still regret buying it.

  8. Anonymous says:

Nobody who wears this is getting anywhere in life. It’s just meant for poor nerds with 0 aesthetic taste. You can swap your nice watch for something like this at home if you really want (plastic is infinitely trash and so is having printed stupid-tier tutorials on your watch like "MODE" and "ALARM ON/OFF / 24HR" or "F-91W"). Anyone who says otherwise is poor or dumb and can’t into watches, art, or mechanics.

Just got that one for my birthday: I did ask for an A700 but I was happy with what I got. Good to hear that it doesn’t wear as fast, to be frank.

I love the look of dive watches but have thin wrists and am poor. I’d buy a 38-40mm version of the Casio Duro even if they were €200. Citizen Promaster Sea 40mm has imo the ugliest indices and hands in that line. SKX013 is now like €350~400 for a used watch with a 7S26 movement and hardlex crystal.

    • Anonymous says:

If you don’t actually plan on diving with it, Seiko’s current pseudo-divers are a better daily wear watch. You’re halving the water resistance to ‘just’ 100 metres, and gaining a hacking/hand winding movement in the process.

      • Anonymous says:

Are there any smaller srpd models? I thought they were all 42.5, with 46mm lug to lug. My wrists have a diameter of 50mm so I’m pretty sure that’s a little too big.

        yes i can

ty might replace the strap anyway

Take the bracelet off and scrub it with a kitchen sponge rough side.
But it is a pretty had bracelet anyway, NATO, militaire national or mesh ftw. Seatbelt NATO can be found on Ali for 1 buck more than the shitty cheap polyester ones, no reason to go for those.

    • Anonymous says:

      >Invicta instead of the Casio Duro
Dude why? Invictas are garbage, both for build quality and for keeping time.

The secret to making f91s look good on other straps is to file lugs into them. If you do it right, it looks factory

  12. Anonymous says:

This has been my dream for months now. Anyone knows where can I buy a similarly colored one? There’s a chinese knockoff on ebay but they don’t ship to my country

  13. Anonymous says:

    >I’d rather throw away a perfectly good watch every year

f91s and similar models synergize with NATO straps better than any other digital watch I can think of

I hecked my girlfriend while wearing the A158 because I forgot to take it off. She finished first. I think women love this watch.

Why not wear sometging with metal bravelet, the A168 or the A158 are great

      my trio
No dress watch though. Had the Mako for 10 years, my first baby and still serves as dress watch with different strap

      kino coming through

      (You)

  14. Anonymous says:

I’ve lost the watches more than I’ve had straps break. I’ve only had one strap break, which I think has something to do with the material of the strap because it’s see through and more bendy than the black straps. I replaced the pin with a wire I had lying around.

  15. Anonymous says:

Found a genuine one at a thrift store for a buck, trimmed+skeletonised the straps and hollowed out the internals, it’s about 10g lighter. Why? Autism.

Might get a funky coloured one and put on a matching nato strap

    • Anonymous says:

My man it’s already just about the lightest thing you can put on your wrist other than a livestrong band.

      • Anonymous says:

        And now it’s lighter!
For context about my particular autism, my road bike weighs 4.5kg and is covered with holes, dremelled down parts and custom carbon fibre, I wear short shorts 90% of the year and sleep under a 200g tarp when I hike. It scratches a weird part of my brain.

  16. Anonymous says:

What about filing the plastic into lugs? Sure it’s a mod that’s irreversable, but it’s also a $10-30 watch.

    • Anonymous says:

I got mine in olive and it makes me feel like Big Boss. Feels almost small on my arm. I’m not large, but I guess I have wide wrists.

    • Anonymous says:

I like their look, but they seem too tacticool to actually wear. How do you wear one without looking like a mall ninja.

      • Anonymous says:

The silver one is a lot less tactical looking imo. You can also rub off the text on the case/face to make it look less cluttered. I did it on the case but not the face yet.

The only thing to worry about is how bulky it is. I only wear it with super casual outfits since it doesn’t fit with anything dressy.

At the end of the day the watch is like $30, so it really doesn’t hurt to buy it as a beater.

        • Anonymous says:

Does the silver one have silver looking plastic throughout or is it just a coating? It does look good, but if the coating were to scratch off with use then what’s the point in the more rugged design.
It is a cheap watch that could be a good casual wear beater, but I hate being wasteful too.

          • Anonymous says:

I believe the silver one is actually mostly stainless steel, but the inside is still resin. I’ve heard it actually shows less signs of wear than the resin model that I have.

At the end of the day it is a cheaper watch that’s meant to be beaten up. If you want something a bit more premium maybe look at the a158w, that’s mostly stainless steel. Or if you wanna go wayyy farther theres the G shock gmw line, but ~400 for a chunky G shock is kinda crazy.

          • Anonymous says:

            >f you want something a bit more premium maybe look at the a158w
I can get an A158WEA for about the same price as the AE1200, the A158W also seems more wearable. Thanks for the tip anon.

Get a vario leather strap for it

Those look great, could their world time straps also be used with the A158W?

  17. Anonymous says:

Are NATO straps the biggest meme/cope in the watch world ever? They are inferior in every conceivable way to both steel bracelets and rubber straps. They absorb moisture and take forever to dry, which means unless you never wash your hands, go swimming, or live life in general, the strap will reek within days, and pretty soon no matter how often you wash it the stink will be permanently ingrained within it. Furthermore they’re scratchy and uncomfortable as hell. You’re basically holding your watch on your wrist with a backpack nylon strap cut to fit with a buckle slapped on. It barely supports the watch and holds it in uncomfortable positions on your wrist.

Sure, they look cool sometimes, especially without those gay color stripes that people obsess over. But now whenever I see someone post their watch on a NATO/Zulu all I can think of is how nerdy of a gay that person is.

    • Anonymous says:

Rubber straps are the most comfortable straps on earth. I’ve worn watches that cost more than you make in two months on their highly rated steel bracelets, I’ve worn the highest rated NATO bracelets on Watchuseek, I’ve carried pocket watches so beautiful you would weep. Without question a good rubber/resin strap like what Gshocks have make it so like you’re wearing air. I haven’t washed mine in 6 months and I just sniffed it. No odor whatsoever. There are no scratches or scuffs on it, meanwhile my steel bracelets look like swirl city after 3 months because I’m not a beta b***h who sits on /fashion/ all day. Oh and they’re as smooth as my girl’s tummy after a good moisturizing with my man juice.

Thoughs on inverted display mod and hydro mod? I think they look cool, but supposedly the inverted display reduces readability and hydro mod can leak oil when pressing buttons.

    • Anonymous says:

Thinking of doing the clean face mod with inverted display and hydro mod, if such a thing is even possible. Really hope it gives a complete black dial with only the time standing out.
Pic related is clean face mod & inverted display without the hydro mod, hydro mod should increase the contrast of the display.

I get it, but it only adds a little extra work when replacing the battery which is fine I think. Solar would be a lot more convenient, especially Citizen Eco-Drive.

Go to Walmart and get another one. Just take the watch, no one will care. You clearly can’t afford a new one because of poor life choices.

Lmao touch grass I love my beat up watch and I’m set up, go project your own perceived failings onto someone else.

Pisses me off that you kids can actually wear these. I’m built like hecking Shrek and have wrists like tree trunks. Can’t even get the strap hooked on the first hole without cutting off hecking circulation.

    • Anonymous says:

I’m basically a wristlet yet the notch I use is well into the latter half of the notches, ie. it would appear I have a big wrist from the notch it’s on. For many years I had little/no idea my wrists are quite small because of this evidence. I suspect they do this to compliment their customers, although it could also be something to do with their original Asian audience having small wrists. Think about it, you put on one strap you feel like you have big wrists, you put on another it makes you feel like they’re small – which are you going to choose? The downside is it will cut off people with super big wrists but I’m guessing your wrist size is very rare.
