i think runway shows have this dual notion where the pieces are wildly expressive, but also if you single them out (top, coat, shoes, etc.) you can get some insane pieces/looks off

I didn’t believe you but looked it up and you’re right and their revenue has increased massively year over year. I don’t understand why. I would love to see a breakdown of their sales. I have a lot of SLP but haven’t bought anything from them probably since 2016. I think the menswear has been totally uninspired but I guess it’s resonating with someone.

i think uninspired is one way, but i think they’ve been far more minimalistic, which is something that does resonate with me and probably a wider audience of consumers that weren’t super stoked about the niche heroine chic YSL

It’s a runway show stupid it’s not supposed to be wearable

how is that a dual notion? fashion isn’t expressive for you?
also what is "wildly expressive" about this collection, as you go on to say the brand is minimalistic, dare i say austere and prosaic post hedi

draping on these silk shirts look cool, button ups and cigarette pants are lame

it’s slp of course they’re going to do cigarette pants lol

        i hear you but
        > During his first full year as creative designer at Saint Laurent, the company’s income had increased by 25.3 percent in revenue over 2016.

pretty sure most of the profit comes from perfumes and purses

dual in the sense that a piece can either go with the haute couture runway fit, or singled out as a statement in another more pedestrian outfit.

ok well then i have to side with some of the other anons in that a lot of this is obviously too loud for every day "ready to wear" use, setting aside fashionable sensibilities and adopting a more practical point of view

. Not the kind that was shown in the show, yes. You gonna look ridiculous wearing 98% of those tops. All the coats are not meant to be worn by some one under 190 cm at all. Even then, coats gonna grind the ground when you walk.

Turned it off after seeing that the first gimmick was that big bow or whatever, reaching model’s faces. No shit you wear should poke your face/cheek for no good reason like that.

Leave Vaccarello to the womenswear and bring someone else in for the menswear, they’ve been utterly irrelevant since Hedi left.
