          i still don't fully get it but i'm starting to realize that this just puts one of the conclusions i've reached into a more succinct explanation. a lot of crypto projects nowadays seem to bank on this dream of institutions and banks just packing up everything and migrating to a new network that they won't have control over. it's been years and no project in crypto has any real adoption. instead all the big players are investing in private blockchain projects like quorum, jp morgan liink, r3 corda, canton etc. they don't need a singular public ledger, they can use private ledgers, that's what the post means about how x and f(x) is implemented. now it's just a matter of how you can verify that x and f(x) is computed properly when every ledger is private and i guess that's where chainlink comes in?

            f() = consensus mechanism
            x = state (blockchain state or weather or some external feed)

            obviously a general f( ) that can ingest an arbitrary state x can also serve for blockchain validation, hence eth not needed. Arbitrum's FSS will be example of that.

            But what you say is also true. Definitely interesting that swift turns the pendulum around to capture trad-fi using blockchain, because it has the CCIP piece.
