Bought a 2005 silver Chevy Malibu in 2005 with a check and am still driving it. I call her Molly Boop and I’ve had sexual intercourse with four different ladies in the back seat, only one of them was a hooker.
>just buy a used toyota from before 1983
Got a 4wd tercel. Bought it as a cheap beater but kinda fell in love with. Seats 5 people pretty comfortably, seats fold down and you got plenty of space to load whatever. Mobility is top tier, snow, muddy fields, steep erroded gravel roads, no problems. Punches way above its weight when towing heavy loads because of the low range gear. Easy to maintain, lots of fanboys on the internet for any questions.
To bad it rusts to shit. I want a new production car just like that, a cheap, small 4wd with low range gear subcompact square shitbox. The only new thing i want on it is a central lock.
>They make it but it isn't cheap. >I just bought one 2023 Jeep compass and it's everything you wanted it to be ancapnagger
Then its not why i wanted. Looks like any other modern shitbox, bloated, ugly, plastic shit on the outside that will break if you go through some bush, plastic shit covering the engine, no space to even move a wrench, bunch of electronic shit that is impossible to fix yourself. Bet it will start beeping like a section ape smoke detector and then go into limp mode if you hit an antifa homosexual
There is too much plastic in the engine bay. It gets 277ft-lb of torque at 1800rpm in a modern 4 banger tho. As computer stuff starts breaking I'll start deleting it, simple as. If I have to I'll drop a carbureted motor in the sumbitch

If you can then that's good i guess. Here your car wouldn't get through the inspection shit. Old cars that are shit out of the factory gets a pass (and aren't taxed if they are over 30) new cars are held to a higher standard here. Warning about some broken sensor in a door? FAIL
Not even kidsing
changing >your car isn't green enough to enter <city> with >only electric cars can enter <place> >gas powered cars may only drive 100km on the highways >fossile fuel cars are not allowed to overtake anywhere >pay 200%, 300% more for road taxes >garage repairs increasingly difficult and expensive
etc etc.
what will you do when this fuckery comes (and it will)
This is the future. After all the Boomers are gone, the late millennials and Gen Z, who are all mindfucked over "climate change", will regulate the shit out of the use of fossil fuels to where you'll have no choice but to rent an EV.
Lol just dont listen to them.
The "law" never stopped anybody but the most bluepilled pansy fags.
Do as you will, as long as your not harming anybody. And if your gunna harm somebody, make sure theyre a criminal or a politician.
Keep driving with my veggie oil powered car with screen numberplates displaying those of EVs. Repair it at home because I know fabricators and used parts can be refurbished.
>subaru >forever
I think you misunderstood the assignment.
I like subarus but they are objectively unreliable.
They can be reliable cars but unfortunately suffer from oiling issues; primarily the DOHC for whatever reason. Make sure to NOT follow oil change interval recommendations, and change the oil early, like every 3000 miles instead. Make sure the oil filter you use has the correct 23psi bypass valve in it (many other cars use 8-15 psi). Oil in bypass isn't bein filtered. Also get a dedicated oil pressure gauge because the little warning light is bullshit and wont save the engine.
Rod bearings 2&3 most commonly fail in the EJ engine(and probably also FJ) because they share a main bearing oil feed, unlike cylinders 1 and 4 which each have their own.
It's possible your timing belt or timing brlt tensioner is fucked which caused a the valves on that one cylinder to get bent. These are interference engines so that means the piston is able to hit the valves, and in some EJ motors the intake and exhaust valves can also contact each other in dome cases. If the timing belt skips a cog or something similar then it could very easily bend a valve and that would cause the compression problem.
The oil leak could very well be coming from the valve cover(s) since that's a common leak in most cars but more noticeable on flat engines simply due to the orientation.
My friends 2018 subaru burns like 2 quarts of oil per 1000 miles and it burns so much oil it ruined the catalytic converters which cost 3k each and there's 2
The dealer told him to just keep adding oil or buy a new engine, absolute shit cars
Tell him to clean or preferably just replace the PCV valve. Sometimes that causes exess oil to be burned off in the manifold. If that's happening he might be able to see excess oil residue when peeking down the throttle body.
If it's not the PCV valve it's likely excessive piston to cylinder wall clearance, and for that there's nothing he can do apart from rebuilding it unfortunately
They really do make needlessly complex and shitty engines. It blows my mind that they're mass produced at all

If you engine requires a special tool anywhere within it, then it's a israelite engine designed to become overly expensive and disposable. In a society that's becoming destroyed by israelite politicians and their nagger golems to the point that getting supplies will inevitably become too difficult, the last thing you want to rely on is anything disposable.

I would tend to agree with you. The Subarus only require a special tool to hold the camshaft pulleys for removal but it's like 25 bucks on amazog. Only other thing to worry about after that is the 10mm allen bolts securing the camshafts that strip put half the time so you gotta bash an extractor socket (5/8" I think) onto it to get it off. After that it's just normalfag hand tools
I rebuilt my 1998 legacy outback 3 years back at 250k miles. Worst part was getting the engine out of the car. Otherwise i guess it wasnt super terrible. Wouldnt wanna do it again though fwiw.
Thing still lives in my garage. Pushing 300k and still stronk aside from new head gaskets and a transmission swap. Got lucky and found one in a junkyard for 50 bux.
Best feature on the vehicle is the cupholder.
I'm glad she's still chuggin along! I found getting the engine out to be a pain in the ass too, but I agree, they're not too terrible to tear down once they're out. It's just tedious as fuck with all the gay little procedures. Same with reassembly.
Was it the dreaded rod knock?
Rod nock and randomly dropping a cylinder with no code in the computer. So i said fuck it and just decided to buy a manual and tear it down.
Took me almost 2 weeks after work and a weekend to get it taken care of. Did trans and engine at same time.
Im not the savviest mechanic. I never much liked working on cars. And it was all i had at the time so i drove a 99 cavalier a friend loaned me for the duration lol.
Having to drive a cavalier will definitely light a fire under your ass haha. You're savvier than most people I'll tell you that. Glad the repair has been a success tho, hopefully mine works out the same

I have an ‘05 Towncar. I had a ‘02 Grand Marquis before that. I can confirm, they are in fact killable.
Bought one right before some guy in NS shot people up in a cop car and they stopped selling them.

You may cause some cognitive dissonance with this comment. Conservatives are trying to remember why they've been told to waste money on gas.
i second this. i have an 8yo bmw i3, with 160k now, it was tax free back then, and i charged it from my panels but got reimbursed on the grid rate 🙂 I made about 5k euros per year on the car (2 on the car tax levy and about 3 on the electricity) for 4 years as a company car then bought it for 16k. Only downside is the missing 5th seat.
>Bought forever car yet?
No such thing, homosexual. Cars are mere tools.
I've got a Fiat Panda 1.1L, Nissan Navara 2.5L TDI and a motorcycle.
I use the first piece of crap to go to work and the two latter to fuck bitches.
I can buy anything and swap in a Hellephant's engine so the model doesn't matter much.
I have seen older Chevy's C4 transmission fitted with turbo's K-series and guess what. It will last forever, easg to maintain and repain. It was an IROC-Z Z28
2004 Opel zafira. (yes mine is an Opel)
so much usable space in the back it's unreal.
yes, there are always some issues but they are pretty simple to fix aslong as you have the time to put into it.
so far I've overhauled the brakes, the timing belt + water pump, rocker cover gasket and some odd and ends.
I've learnt alot and saved hundreds on labor by doing it myself which isn't realistic when doing modern cars that need computers to tell them they've had new pads or sensors fitted.
Had mine nigh on 15
Never an issue aside from rusty rockers. Which is fixable. Have fun replacing ujionts and working under an absolutely rotten frame.
Nah m8.
Your brand loyalty says everything we need to know about you. Sure some chrystler shit and other mopar products are great, ford has plenty as well.
But youre defending the name over a jeep wrangler.
And that makes you retarted. You wont feel the same after your 3rd head rebuild.
But go ahead. Tell me how the 5.0 v8 sucks. Or the 1st gen coyote is trash.
Or how a dirty max is unreliable.
Ill wait.
If you talk about tritons being trash ill agree. If you talk about "muh uluminum bed" its 5050 ill ignore you depending on what follows those words.
Id rather drive a 94' ford aspire or geo metro than a jeep these days.
To be fair the 4.0 inline 6 was a great motor. The pentastar v6s suck ass though. And the hemis have been known to have bearings fail in the roller lifters that ends up flattening cam lobes, which causes misfires. Usually happens on an MDS cylinder. I still like Mopars though because generally you can fix em with a hammer. Lel
See this is the kind of discussion i was asking for.
Well said anon.

Anytime m8! I think people get too emotionally invested in their cars sometimes and can't into bantz because of it. My general rule is EVERY car is a piece of shit. But that's what gives them character.
Owned a 98 wrangler 5spd manual for 10 years. Would not reccomend. Shitty hi center wheel base. Poor in snow, poor in mud. Fuel consumption is meh in the 4 banger, and shit in the inline 6. They hold their value but theyre not particularly good at anything really.
Any basic pickup is as good or better in every aspect and can hold and tow more. And is easier to work on contrary to what youd think.
Now theyre owned by fiat qhich makes em gay. and they changed the design yet again.
Get a cheap pickup with a 5.0 v8 and never have to worry about anything aside from basic maint and welding plate steel to the frame once in a while if you use salt on roads in winter.
Even my stock pickup with locked hubs is a better offroad than a base model jeep. People buy them for their mod ability. But to make it worth a damn you need to throw another 10k in parts at the thing. Lifts, shocks, joints, hubs, new tires and likely rims.
Ill admit the clearance on them is great because of the wheel base but it just doesnt work on its own.
Thats fair. Just not my first choice personally.
They exist because people like em but after owning one so long i dont see the appeal.

I used to own a 98 wrangler 5spd with a 2.5 4banger. It was fun i just hated the way they handled in the snow. Im not big on offroading anyways. Most i do is drive around a field during harvest season. And a pickup suits my needs better.

Wow, you guys really like sedans.
I have a 2012 Renault Sandero. Good car, don't know if will last me forever though.
The best thing about the fucker is that I can fold the backseat and carry a shit load of things in there.
If I ever need another car it will definitely be a pickup.
>Wow, you guys really like sedans
Really don't understand sedan people. Hatchetback or combi are just superior imo. Move more stuff, can sleep comfortably in them.
Depends on the sedan. A full size like a 7 series or Buick/Lincoln boat is spacious and has a YUGE trunk. You can easily fit three dead naggers back there. The gas mileage isn’t bad because they aren’t lifted boxes despite how much they weigh.
Yeah but if you get a station wagon with the same footprint you got place for 3 alive friends and you can camp in it. And the height its about the same so you're basically pushing the same amount of air out of the way.
My 2007 ford fusion with 242,000 miles on it is my forever car I guess. This year I bought shocks, struts, tie rods, rear brakes and a torque strut replacement.
Next year will be the transmission, if it doesn't blow up while I only have $200 in the bank.
Diesel Ford mondeo estate (2010) and 2013 mx5 2.0 prht
Both new enough to not be piles of rust (yet) but simple enough that I can repair/maintain myself
Plus I can steal diesel from work
Every situation is covered by these 2 majestic vehicles
My dad passed and I inherited his 2001 Chevy truck. I sold my new Honda and swore off loans. I will drive it til it dies then buy some other piece of shit for 10k cash. Cars mean nothing to me, I’m not going into debt for one ever again. Forever car? Fuck off with that middle class trap
Sad! More and more, people will be saying things like that. >I had an [xyz] from the [90's-2010]. It was cheap and simple. Not much that could break. I could work on it myself. (Sigh). Now I'm stuck leasing a 2030 WEF-approved [Smart eCar]. Leasing! I don't even own it 🙁
yes and i was very stupid to sell it, all it needed was a power steering unit and hose.
i was a dummy kid though.
paid 1700.00 cash for it, had Mickey Thompson 31x13.50s on it (the perfect size for a jeep without a body lift on it)
Wife's vehicle has 40,000 miles, Coyote 5.0, paid off.
My daily driver has 5200 miles, twin turbo, only owe $5k left on a loan
My "weekend car" has 120 miles on it, makes 815hp, and is paid off
Wife's weekend car is in the middle of a full restoration. We already have an engine built for it that I'm dropping in once I get all the fab work done.
We're good for a long time. I have more equity in one car than most people have in their entire home.
No, your missing the point.
Everything you listed is goyslop.
Very few cars are an investment, and certainly not a coyote mustang. It’s cool, but devalued considering the auctions are full of them.
You slap said a TT truck, assuming a eco boost F150.. you do know them turbos are not long life and extremely expensive to replace, right? You do know any eco turbo cars are junk?
Literally everything new has a expiration. While your cars are dope for the meets they wont last in a SHTF situation where e85 isn’t available lol. I have 14 cars, I’m not trying to put you down it’s just not the thread theme.
Our daily drivers are meant to last a long time and only a fool would assume they are investments beyond a means for transportation. I have a 5 car garage with a lift bay, 50k worth of tools, and connections to fabrication and machine shops all over. I'm equipped to do most work here. The two weekend cars are rare classics. One appraised at $145k last year. I take it into town for Cars and Coffee and that's about it. I have about 1200 hours into restoring and building that car. That's an investment and heirloom for my son. Do not lecture me with your Reddit-tier surface level understanding of things.
I’m not lecturing, I’m educating you.
My shop and collection is larger.
I have two buildings with lifts.
14 collectable cars.
Picrel is my storage bay, that’s a 28 whippet, a monte SS with a LSX and a 87 Buick turbo owned by a CEO at gm special order.
At least I can prove my words. You pass down one car, I pass down a collection.

i just do it as a hobby, it's fun to tinker
Aye coyotes are awesome fucking engines.
Ive got a 2014 f150 with a 5.0.
As basic a truck i could find. Starting to rust on me but nothing too major yet. Will be taking care of it this winter.
Coyotes are bulletproof up to a point. Oil pump gears are the weak point. I have several buddies running 1000+hp on the Coyote platform. I've been trying to convince the wife to put a Whipple on hers. I've built several mod motors to 800-1200hp territory and it was far costlier and less reliable than the Coyote platform
Thats why i ended up with what i got. Rain or shine. As long as i treat my vehicle with respect i want my shit to run reliably. I dont need much power as i dont tow much beyond a trailer of gravel or a small camper when i go deer hunting. Otherwise the bed serves 99% of my needs.
Seems like they have very minor quirks. Mileage isnt great but 20 ish hwy is fine for the reliability tradeoff.
LULZ is filled with homosexuals and trannies. They are the equivalent of cuck-cube-dwelling sòylent-slurping cat-owning effeminate males with funko pop collections. Nobody on LULZ has anything with over 115hp except for a handful of truckfags that get together on weekends to rub their naked bodies down with used motor oil and have gay orgies in front of their squatted 20-year-old pickup trucks...especially that one collosal homosexual with the blue pickup with the sheet metal sharp-tooth grill. Those retards make /k/ look like geniuses and those homosexuals eat brownies laced with tranny sperm down in Georgia
Yep! Got a 2015 Fiat 500 Sport. Never had any issues while driving around the country. I also plan on getting an EV RV, but most new RVs I've seen are made of chinesium and plastic. What happened to quality?
No parts available
Police, ticketing you for your cars year.
Inspection center says no sticker you have to tow it.
Zoning says no inspection or registration you can't park it on your property.
Another American pastime destroyed.
Bros, I was thinking this am about this, I have a 87 monte ss I’m swapping a 6.0l into from a Chevy truck but I had a realization that the ECU for an LS based engine won’t be available forever, they are plentiful now, but it’s not like the old days when people keep cars around for years, scrap yards don’t save shit anymore.. my thoughts are that I may stick with a SBC and a CARB, because at least I know I can keep it running if it’s got a carb for basically ever as I have a pile of qjets. If I want it to last like another 40 years, I don’t think even the mighty LSX will be around then.
I have seen generations of cars be popular, then be replaced and now are non existent such as the ford tempo/topaz, dodge neon, 1st/2nd gen geo 3cyls ECT. Essentially the perfect car, very popular, but find one today.
I drive a 2018 Toyota Avalon and I am very happy with it
I also own a 2000 Chevy S10 that I drive around as well, to keep from putting all my miles on the Avalon
I figure the Avalon is good for 300k miles but my little Chevy is a real user of a truck
i like the round sealed beams
sealed beams are epic, they never fade and if a rock hitting it breaks one, you can just replace the glass with a new one for 5 dollars instead of trying to find the entire lens which will likely not be available anymore
*snaps ball joints randomly*
I've seen this happen to 4 different people I know with 4runners now, one has titanium in his skull now from rolling over at 70 when the ball joint went, the rest happened at low speed and they're fine
A cursory google search will tell you that’s the first thing you replace when you buy them used. It’s not hard, I did it myself. Your friend is poor and dumb.
It will be eventually
My other friend would always carry spare ball joints and tools with him because they break so often on the trail, we had to replace his ball joints 3 times on the trail before
They're updated design that aren't supposed to snap dummy
that's why you delete the ball joints entirely
Yes, solid axle swap is the solution

Based. These things are built like tanks. Sadly I had to give up my 99 limited a few years ago. This country loves to kill cars with copious amounts of salt on the roads during the winter.
‘87 swb, owned since ‘88. Had many flavours of big block in it since I pulled the gay 305 auto. Super t-10 4spd being replaced with a Lenco this winter, tubbed and four linked. Doesn’t corner but eats super cars in the 1/4 mile or stop light to stop light.
06 silverado, regular cab, full bed, crank windows, 5.3l engine, cold ac, dashboard intact, under 100k miles, i'm the 2nd owner and i bought it a couple years before trucks became stupidly expensive so it's worth more than when i bought it
Just got my first car. Volvo v70 diesel from 2013. Built for Swedish winter, replacement parts abound. Enough space in the rear to use for sleeping. It's a good one, senpai. When SHTF I will take my wife and closest friends to my family cottage deep in the woods. We have arable lands and our own well.
This seems like a good thread to ask. I need to buy a truck for hauling 8 ft sheets of plywood, sheetrock, lumber, etc because I'll be renovating a house soon. So an 8ft bed is a must. Any recs for something <$10,000? Don't care about the year, make, or model, but ideally it's a reliable platform and easy to wrench on
You really can’t say what you are gonna get at that price as it is all about what is near you and what has not been beat to shit through its life. The secret is to just find someone who very clearly liked it and did all the maintenance that they could do look for good old white folks and their trucks. DO NOT BUY FROM WOMEN OR BROWN PEOPLE unless they show above average and knowledgeable car literacy.
Protip to anyone: If you cannot repair your car from any failure with just the tools that are currently in your toolbox, then your car is disposable when the manufactured war comes and you won't be able to get specialty tools or replacement parts.
Imagine your trying to get through the SHTF reliant upon a disposable car. Good luck.
pretty sure I got just about the last car in America without a touchscreen/back up camera. TPMS is based of wheel speed sensors so no stupid tire sensors. Traction control turns all the way off with a single touch of a button. It even has a cd player!

gf drives a 97 Camry. goddamn thing is invincible. we just put a new drivers side CV axle in, valve cover gasket, new plugs + wires, PCV, all in a few afternoons with youtube and some tools. scored it for $500, previous owner had a cold air intake and custom headers, and we'll probably find more riced out shit the further we get in to maintenance. so far the only real problem we have is the bumpers keep falling off kek.
I have a cute chevy sonic 2015
Those are straight up pieces of shit. Good luck with that one.
>2010s chevy
congrats on the timebomb transmission
Same. Looking to get rid of it before 100K miles though.
are you sonichu??
Got a diesel Merc and diesel Kia truck also a FJ cruiser, new cars are gay
Diesel Merc brother, may you roll coal till the next ice age.
I have. 2 perfect cars for me.
W210 3L diesel mercedes that will run on veggie oil and BMW E34 525i petrol car.
om606! https://www.thekangaroosteam.com/ make some nice manifolds for it. And pump https://www.dieselmeken.se/ of course
>om606
epic choice
I have a diesel w212 and an e34! We shall run these cars forever!
I make delete kits for diesel mercedes, because fuck the government.
nice work, anon
do you sell those, or have you published a parts list for others to replicate?
I sell them, but they’re built to order. They’re hand fit into a jig that was also hand built, so there isn’t anything really to publish.
I swapped the om606 and the 722.6 gearbox in my w124.
Hx35 turbo with the kangaroos manifold
Dieselmeken pump
Ofgear controler.
I filter used engine oil and mix it with diesel and run on it.
>w212
Nice sounds like a beast! I miss my w210 300td.... I have a nissan s14 now not running of course haha
>W210 3L diesel mercedes
Good luck finding one
Smart. I should get a dieselmobile
How is the maintainance and longevity on the veggie oil?
Nice. I have 2 E30s on the road and 3 more cars for parts. I'll never be without an E30.
Trad bros win again. Soon to be good money in being able to weld an alternator housing back together.
this is what I really want tho
the armored version seems more practical for these times
Bought a 2005 silver Chevy Malibu in 2005 with a check and am still driving it. I call her Molly Boop and I’ve had sexual intercourse with four different ladies in the back seat, only one of them was a hooker.
>only one of them was a hooker.
As far as you know.
Have you had any issues with it? How many miles? Does the seat have cum stains?
I drive a 2010 Malibu, it has 144k miles on it and is barely holding together and has electrical issues out the ass
malibu sure ain't what it used to be
The Chevy Malibu is one of the worst cars ever, they all have problems
97 camry still runs like a top
any fun quirks? ours has door handles that don't work inside and are physically broken outside, so you can't get out if the windows are up!
RX300s and LS430s are the only Toyotas to get.
LS430 is a damn tank and drives like a dream I heard. I didn't bite the bullet when they were dirt cheap though.
Get a non- F Sport 460
They are built almost as well and have lower maintenance costs
vw mk4 1.9 tdi
no and idk shit about cars, so i wouldnt feel condfident buying one. sure itd be nice but it isnt required usually for my situation
just buy a used toyota from before 1983, 2002, or 2011 depending on how basic of a car you can tolerate
the old ones will run forever and toyota will make new parts for even their oldest cars, used to be mopar did too but those days are LONG gone
>just buy a used toyota from before 1983
Got a 4wd tercel.
FAIL
Not even kidsing
okay but how many miles, what type of car and so on. If i did get one i'd probably travel around national parks/forests in the summer/spring/fall.
never changing
changing
>your car isn't green enough to enter <city> with
>only electric cars can enter <place>
>gas powered cars may only drive 100km on the highways
>fossile fuel cars are not allowed to overtake anywhere
>pay 200%, 300% more for road taxes
>garage repairs increasingly difficult and expensive
etc etc.
what will you do when this fuckery comes (and it will)
This is the future.
Repair it at home because I know fabricators and used parts can be refurbished.
>gas powered engine sounds
>visible emissions
>get plates double checked because your ride doesn't remotely look like homosexual-EV 9000
you won't be able to hide, but I'm not against the sentiment
Torches and rope
poorfag
Is that a 5 or a 7? I had an e38 740il that I loved but repairs sucked.
dont forget to stock up on some parts.
I did actually.
>easy to work on
>mountains of easily available parts
One of my dream cars alongside a Pantera and a GT40 MK1
Was metal brothers worth the what they charge?
>Got £14,000 for vehicle
>need it to last at least 15 years
>not buying a gay-ass EV
What get?
Just get a nice early 2000s lexus or Honda and you're good. Or stop being a pussy and get a Disco2.
for me, it's the 7th gen subey wagon.
God damn i want this but sadly hard to find in eu
looks gangster
>subaru
>forever
I think you misunderstood the assignment.
I like subarus but they are objectively unreliable.
Are you a lesbian?
They can be reliable cars but unfortunately suffer from oiling issues; primarily the DOHC for whatever reason. Make sure to NOT follow oil change interval recommendations, and change the oil early, like every 3000 miles instead. Make sure the oil filter you use has the correct 23psi bypass valve in it (many other cars use 8-15 psi). Oil in bypass isn't bein filtered. Also get a dedicated oil pressure gauge because the little warning light is bullshit and wont save the engine.
Rod bearings 2&3 most commonly fail in the EJ engine(and probably also FJ) because they share a main bearing oil feed, unlike cylinders 1 and 4 which each have their own.
> t. Rebuilding a subie engine
Want to rebuild a subi engine for me? (2008 forester)
What's it doing anon?
Not running. No compression in one of the cylinders. Catastrophic oil leak just before that. I live in PA.
check compression on all cylinders and check spark (also fuel and oil)
It's possible your timing belt or timing brlt tensioner is fucked which caused a the valves on that one cylinder to get bent. These are interference engines so that means the piston is able to hit the valves, and in some EJ motors the intake and exhaust valves can also contact each other in dome cases. If the timing belt skips a cog or something similar then it could very easily bend a valve and that would cause the compression problem.
The oil leak could very well be coming from the valve cover(s) since that's a common leak in most cars but more noticeable on flat engines simply due to the orientation.
*FA series engine (not FJ)
My friends 2018 subaru burns like 2 quarts of oil per 1000 miles and it burns so much oil it ruined the catalytic converters which cost 3k each and there's 2
The dealer told him to just keep adding oil or buy a new engine, absolute shit cars
Good grief.
They already looked at the car, it's the engine
Subaru makes shit cars and shit engines, flat engines have no fucking reason to be in a car
Glad the repair has been a success tho, hopefully mine works out the same
Godspeed anon. Also cavalier AC is impressively cold. Good summer car haha
tbSTI or 3.0r?
Haha...I did.
1998 toyota rav4 with 70k miles. She's a israeliteel too. Black, 4 door, with the tape deck and CD player. I lifted her 3" and put all terrain tires on (Michigan winters).
Yeah, I bought an 08 Town Car. Panther platforms are unkillable.
I have an ‘05 Towncar. I had a ‘02 Grand Marquis before that. I can confirm, they are in fact killable.
beautiful - we're you able to get the livery edition?
I've kept my wife driving Crown Vic for years, she's always hitting deers that would destroy lesser cars. A few hundred bucs of used parts and it's like it never happened.
>I've kept my wife driving Crown Vic for years
Lincoln made a "livery" edition of the town car for limousine companies - if you can find one of those, you'll have heavier, more durable running gear all around - solid choice forever
This is true I had an 06 crown vic. Their achilleas heel is blowing out spark plug threads.
Panther chads rise up
My only regret is there was no station wagon version for this gen.
Hell yeah. I had an 06 Signature Limited until we had our fourth kid. Extremely reliable and easy to work on. Panther platform was peak Ford.
Yeah I have a subaru outback
ENJOY REGISTERING IT TO DRIVE ON ROADS IN THE SYSTEM MADE DESIGNED AND PLANNED TO MAKE YOU SUFFER.
I've literally been trying to get car insurance for 10 days now
I pay $290 leafbucks per month just to insure my tiny hatchback
That’s what you get for living in Brampladesh
Who gives a fuck in rhe UK we are fast approaching the point were the police are harrassed and simply wont enforce shit. They have no power noe after the covid vaccine, everyone incukding the migrants are fucking sick of the NWO. There UN solider scheme has already backfired horribly on them here.
yes.
good choice my dude
thank you, i enjoy it. it never breaks down, and runs strong and Scotty recommends it.
you gotta love Scotty
no, i don't love scotty. he is basically a commie and doesnt give good advice. his advice is "buy honda or toyota"
that's literally it.
any car with any kind of creature comfort or performance he calls "bells and whistles"
he actuallt described the stereo system in his 04 matrix as "fantastic"
i had one of those, it's a very unsafe little shitbox with a horrible radio that you cant hear if you drive in the highway.
volvo and mercedes are the best car manufacturers of all time
Honda is good too, but NOT toyota.
all they do well is trucks and suvs.
even the celebrated 90s supra is the worst, and most boring japanese sports car of its day.
I cant tell you how much i hate soulless toyotas.
you mean to tell me you have not learned anything good from Scotty?
he is a wealth of knowledge in my opinion.
>volvo and mercedes are the best car manufacturers of all time
Wake up, we are not in the 80's for 90's anymore.
got an electric car - VW E-Up - together with Solar on my roof and a solar storage in 2013
was one of the first one to get the E-Up in late 2013
still going strong
nothing at that car broke so far
battery is bit weaker these days
and the best thing, in 10years of usage i never even ONCE, paid for charging
at home with solar and at work / supermarket / some park spots for free
though free charging got way less in recent years
not one cent for greedy oil desert israelites and mutts
>not one cent for greedy oil desert israelites and mutts
05 highlander checking in. Yes.
I can buy anything and swap in a Hellephant's engine so the model doesn't matter much.
I have seen older Chevy's C4 transmission fitted with turbo's K-series and guess what. It will last forever, easg to maintain and repain. It was an IROC-Z Z28
Nah, if the US goes the way it is, no one will be driving cars, mainly because people will keep sabotaging the national petroleum arteries.
I'm keeping it forever
Bought one right before some guy in NS shot people up in a cop car and they stopped selling them.
I want a m3. Don't care what year.
Jeep Wrangler, the Lego of cars.
nice.
I lust for a willys jeep.
Chrysler engine is about as robust.
I'd take anything Chrysler makes over a shit ford
low iq
Keep buying an f150 every e years retard
*3
I can always hear a V6 Dodge before I see it
TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK
Owned a 98 wrangler 5spd manual for 10 years. Would not reccomend. Shitty hi center wheel base. Poor in snow, poor in mud. Fuel consumption is meh in the 4 banger, and shit in the inline 6. They hold their value but theyre not particularly good at anything really.
Any basic pickup is as good or better in every aspect and can hold and tow more. And is easier to work on contrary to what youd think.
Now theyre owned by fiat qhich makes em gay. and they changed the design yet again.
Get a cheap pickup with a 5.0 v8 and never have to worry about anything aside from basic maint and welding plate steel to the frame once in a while if you use salt on roads in winter.
>theyre not particularly good at anything really.
They're good at off road, idk why you'd buy one unless you intended to use it for that
Even my stock pickup with locked hubs is a better offroad than a base model jeep. People buy them for their mod ability. But to make it worth a damn you need to throw another 10k in parts at the thing. Lifts, shocks, joints, hubs, new tires and likely rims.
Ill admit the clearance on them is great because of the wheel base but it just doesnt work on its own.
Idk I've had nothing but an amazing time with a front and rear locker, both cost 250 dollars and make the vehicle insanely capable
Thats fair. Just not my first choice personally.
They exist because people like em but after owning one so long i dont see the appeal.
sounds like a skill issue, may i see your current rig?
2014 f150 stx is my current rig.
I used to own a 98 wrangler 5spd with a 2.5 4banger. It was fun i just hated the way they handled in the snow. Im not big on offroading anyways. Most i do is drive around a field during harvest season. And a pickup suits my needs better.
>Most i do is drive around a field during harvest season. And a pickup suits my needs better.
well this answers everything, you never needed or wanted an off road rig
no wonder you didn't like it
i'm diesel swapping my jeep right now, boutta get 30mpg and make epic turbo sounds
That sounds pretty rad ngl.
Wow, you guys really like sedans.
I have a 2012 Renault Sandero. Good car, don't know if will last me forever though.
The best thing about the fucker is that I can fold the backseat and carry a shit load of things in there.
If I ever need another car it will definitely be a pickup.
nice, and you could always sleep in it if push came to shove. a good spacious backseat trunk area is a must. .02
Idk if it’ll last me forever but it’s been a good two years with my fren
based I love the room in mine too
>1st gen kia sportage
It's a forevercar, one of the lesser known ones that come with an actual 4x4 for cheap.
Still driving my 2010 Toyota Camry my parents gave me.
why?
Yep. Nip bros actually take pride in their work unlike lazy mutts. Source: am mutt
that thing is gorgeous
Thx. Did a lot of research on forever vehicle and this is the end result. Reliable af
great color too. good choice. makes me want one. what year is it?
2023. Last yr b4 the globohomos put a v6 turbo and crazy electronics in it.
What is the make and model?
Wish i had the 60k for a fourrunner. My granny has a 2004 silver v8 and its still going
I owned a UCF11 and the heat up north just killed it.
ute van or stationwagon lads
already got a motorbike as a daily but getting a bit tired of getting drenched
thats the fun part.. what tires are you running?
Michelin Pilot Powers are great in the rain
pirelli sport demon
My 2007 ford fusion with 242,000 miles on it is my forever car I guess. This year I bought shocks, struts, tie rods, rear brakes and a torque strut replacement.
Next year will be the transmission, if it doesn't blow up while I only have $200 in the bank.
Yah. Had it for almost 23 years now. Just had a fully overhaul on the engine in case of WW3.
Oh mein gott
Beauty
I bought a Bmw x2 last year. That thing is ugly but it is mine :3
Diesel Ford mondeo estate (2010) and 2013 mx5 2.0 prht
Both new enough to not be piles of rust (yet) but simple enough that I can repair/maintain myself
Plus I can steal diesel from work
Every situation is covered by these 2 majestic vehicles
>no volvo 240s
you're all wrong and dumb
Crown Victoria sport lx 03
Glad to see you are all down to earth and there are no suburban monster trucks and street MRAP fags so far
Does an 86 Bronco count as an MRAP?
Yes.
302 or 351w?
EB, but the paint is vaporized from the AZ sun. Late type 351w HO, but I'm investigating a 5.0 EFI as the 10mpg is just brutal.
anon i had that truck in AZ too! got it here in Florida and took it out there with me.
i even took it down to Mehic0
tell ya what else anon, i had that truck in the desert shooting every weekend out there.
>1 mile from any occupied structure
i miss AZ sometimes..
Eddie Bauer Edition?
had that truck too, really regret selling it.
i re-did the whole thing.
I have a hummer h3 with 155,000 miles. It’s creaky and bad on gas but better than a new cat payment
Yes
is she fast?
yes
hhaha nice.
anon i have some pics of me racing too.
i was out at Bondurant in 2016
I wish car prices were back to 2018 levels so I can buy an Accord Euro R instead of my Civic. A 6th gear would be very beneficial to me
Hope you can machine your own cv joint parts!
>Hope you can machine your own cv joint parts!
call Marty at Raxles - he can rebuild them for you, and the work is impeccable
My dad passed and I inherited his 2001 Chevy truck. I sold my new Honda and swore off loans. I will drive it til it dies then buy some other piece of shit for 10k cash. Cars mean nothing to me, I’m not going into debt for one ever again. Forever car? Fuck off with that middle class trap
>Forever car? Fuck off with that middle class trap
it's doable if you do your own maintenance - numbers work out great
you have a forever vehicle now ya mong, you said it yourself.
2012 Silverado but it has a bad lifter. ;(
Still not a problem if I keep it in V8 mode
My 2010 sierra had a similar issue with the eco gas saving cylinder shut off nonsense.
What worked for me was running some gumout through the engine exactly how the instructions say to do it. The droning tick from the lifter vanished...
Its a shame these engines cant be flushed.
the only way to keep it in v8 mode without damaging things ( which is why your lifter is messed ) is a delete kit that replaces the parts in question
>1985 Toyota SR5 Pickup
If you know basic mechanics, this is best
back to the future truck..
love that Toy
I've had one of these for about 10 years now, very overrated trucks, not worth anything near what people ask for them
Yeah I have my forever car, bike, and various trucks I’ll never ever sell. Feels good to have good taste and pick out good ones.
Yup
Had a LS like that before. It was comfier and more luxurious but the GX is far more capable.
WS6 chad checking in.
i am buying a Jimny if i manage since banks won't even speak to us, it's pretty barebones and easy to work on, if not my cousin has a donkey.
Got a jeep xj from the 90s.
i had a 1984 cj7
i miss it
Sad! More and more, people will be saying things like that.
>I had an [xyz] from the [90's-2010]. It was cheap and simple. Not much that could break. I could work on it myself. (Sigh). Now I'm stuck leasing a 2030 WEF-approved [Smart eCar]. Leasing! I don't even own it 🙁
yes and i was very stupid to sell it, all it needed was a power steering unit and hose.
i was a dummy kid though.
paid 1700.00 cash for it, had Mickey Thompson 31x13.50s on it (the perfect size for a jeep without a body lift on it)
Based xj, my dads got an AMC eagle wagon with a xj 4.0l swap. He should left it in the Jeep.
Yeah it's called a 1995 dodge cummins 12v and a om617 swapped toyota pickup, I'm set for life
Basado, same but I will throw my 617 in a wrangler when the merc rusts away to complement the 4 12vs.
I regret the om617 and wish I put a mechanically injected ALH in instead, much lighter and more powerful and easier to get parts for
Wife's vehicle has 40,000 miles, Coyote 5.0, paid off.
Ngmi.
Already made it.
You sound upset.
Turbos can last a good long while just have to go with fixed ones and not those variable vane ones that come stock on most vehicles now.
You have a junkyard. Congratulations. The shortblock in just one of my cars is probably worth more than your entire collection. How's the salt up there? Where I live, there's none. Every surface is clean enough to eat off.
I do, actually.. I own a car lot too.
Your larping until proof. You don’t even know cars.
That Buick is 50k, verified. Larping nagger.
Nobody in their right mind would pay $50k for an 87 Buick. Keep dreaming. I can list my 68 GT500 for $400k but nobody will buy it for that.
Now, you maple-slurping moosefucker, go back to your little cuckshed and rub yourself raw to your junkyard LS from a Tahoe.
idk man he's the only one who has posted pics of anything
you could do a bread on hood if you wanna be taken seriously, otherwise it's just your words vs his pics, and pics are always worth more
Self-doxxing due to the pressure of known-retards isn't a wise move. My car has been in magazines and plenty of online articles. I don't feel like risking my career and reputation over a squabble with some brain damaged Canadian with a sexual fetish for underpowered rusted Chevy's...
putting bread on a hood isn't self doxxing, you could even write my post number on a piece of paper and set that on the steering wheel and take a pic, and that wouldn't be doxxing at all, there would be zero revealing info on a steering wheel
Found the LULZtist. Not worth the risk. Bread on hood with no identifying factors is worthless as proof and you know that
>Bread on hood with no identifying factors is worthless as proof and you know that
it's not worthless at all, it would be proof enough for me, or like i said, just a piece of paper with my post number, not even bread, and a steering wheel with a horse on it
My steering wheel does not have a horse on it...
ok, literally any steering wheel with a piece of paper with my post number on it, i'll take any steering wheel at this point, doesn't even matter what car it is
I'll go fire it up when I get home from work, just for you, anon...
i'll be waiting
Eh it really isn’t doxxing unless you have some Uber rare car and are dumb enough to show plate. Guying talking and showing cars is pretty natural.
Precisely why I won't.
No the bus is not unique
0/10 for effort.
you have to learn to counter-dox anon. if they ID you, come back at them with teeth.
A bit delusional but Turbo-T Limiteds aren't extremely common.
50k in tools isn't that much, i've dropped like 15k just in welders, probably like 100k in tools total and i haven't even got my own lathe and mill yet, that'll be after i move though when there's more space
I’m 160k in.
based, once i move i'll get a big shop building like in your pic
I'm only counting tools in boxes. If we're counting welders, hydraulics, fabrication equipment (mill, lathe, brakes, shears, wheels, etc), and large power equipment, I'm in the $130k range. I wanted to get into it full time but my career pulled me away. Hard to make the jump without taking a short term hit to income.
>I wanted to get into it full time but my career pulled me away. Hard to make the jump without taking a short term hit to income.
i just do it as a hobby, it's fun to tinker
>Taking loans for cars
>5.0 for a woman
>gazillion horsepower
Anon are you retarded?
Why do /misc/acks have better taste in cars than LULZtists?
Also, Miata and Grand Caravan. I'd like to get a little trailer for the van and then that can be my forever setup.
Thanks for the pasta anon, made me chuckle

Folks gunna end up killing police officers and dmv workers. Prob solved.
Future looks bright.
I have a Honda Accord, thinking of getting the new Honda Pilot but they never have the lower trim levels.
you cannot beat an accord.. although i have had transmission problems with my 98 back when i had it.
The pilot is not good, mileage isn’t bad but trans issues and susceptible to body rot. Really any V6 Honda eats trans.
>2000 Chevy S10
those things are bulletproof
I didnt even need the truck but it was $750 and the work it needed was my labor
it needs tires, but other than that, its a great little truck
it really is. they are tough little suckers
I want an old diesel mercedes.
I had one of these that was minty not a single dent on it and I cut the engine out and scrapped the rest and put the engine in my truck
ew, the us version is really ugly
looks the same to me
different headlights
i like the round sealed beams
sealed beams are epic, they never fade and if a rock hitting it breaks one, you can just replace the glass with a new one for 5 dollars instead of trying to find the entire lens which will likely not be available anymore
I am ready.
Years ago.
Fuckin superduty!
What a great truck.
Running my 2000 4runner into the ground.
He replaced them with brand new ones because he looked it up and read about it, made in Japan ones, not autozone ones
They still broke
Not my problem.
It will be eventually
My other friend would always carry spare ball joints and tools with him because they break so often on the trail, we had to replace his ball joints 3 times on the trail before
that's why you delete the ball joints entirely
He might be retarded, anon. The originals that snap were also made in Japan
They're updated design that aren't supposed to snap dummy
Yes, solid axle swap is the solution
Sounds like a metallurgy problem and probably a geometry problem.
Tell him to try TRW or Mevotech (Mevokek) TTX balljoints and oil them using the supplied grease zerk. I've never been a fan of those sealed balljoints
He can't try anything, the truck is completely smashed
Here's a screenshot of a walk around video after the truck was towed
Where they using their trucks off road semi regularly?
Based. These things are built like tanks. Sadly I had to give up my 99 limited a few years ago. This country loves to kill cars with copious amounts of salt on the roads during the winter.
Getting my 2016 Elantra GT on Friday. Gonna put a dumbass contractor light on top so it looks like a pace car. Fuck society!
‘87 swb, owned since ‘88. Had many flavours of big block in it since I pulled the gay 305 auto. Super t-10 4spd being replaced with a Lenco this winter, tubbed and four linked. Doesn’t corner but eats super cars in the 1/4 mile or stop light to stop light.
gangster
what are some "illegal" mods that make cars last longer?
-afk
be back in a few gents
2019 Toyota Corolla with like 60k~ miles on it. I want a Tacoma, but don’t need it.
Don't care about the year, make, or model, but ideally it's a reliable platform and easy to wrench on
And old ford, or chevy long bed that runs will do you fine. Bring rachet straps though.
You really can’t say what you are gonna get at that price as it is all about what is near you and what has not been beat to shit through its life. The secret is to just find someone who very clearly liked it and did all the maintenance that they could do look for good old white folks and their trucks. DO NOT BUY FROM WOMEN OR BROWN PEOPLE unless they show above average and knowledgeable car literacy.
> all vehicles sold after 2026 must have a kill switch that can disable your vehicle based on your driving performance
is it true ?
https://twitter.com/RepThomasMassie/status/1722121806889287978
Protip to anyone: If you cannot repair your car from any failure with just the tools that are currently in your toolbox, then your car is disposable when the manufactured war comes and you won't be able to get specialty tools or replacement parts.
Imagine your trying to get through the SHTF reliant upon a disposable car. Good luck.
I don't have one and just use Uber everywhere.
1989 Volvo 240GL.
Ill be riding my Golf V GTI till the wheels fall off
Still has 'only' 140k km on the dash
you guys are fucking stalking me aren't you.
car?
wtf is that?
a walking stick?
pretty sure I got just about the last car in America without a touchscreen/back up camera. TPMS is based of wheel speed sensors so no stupid tire sensors. Traction control turns all the way off with a single touch of a button. It even has a cd player!
>itt amerimutts and their obsession for shit asian cars
not my fault slant eyes make the best daily drivers. You can have a fun weekend car, but if your daily isn't japanese, you are doing it wrong. I am not even a weeaboo, it's just a fact. All my friends with VWs have a ton of issues. Fords are fucking dumb to work on.
yes. 2015 toyota tacoma. no lane departure, no push to start, no ability for the computer to control the steering wheel, no remote start. just a solid 6 cylinder mated to a traditional auto transmission no CVT. i will die with it, even when the motor law is passed.
I have
1986 F150 4x4
2005 Suburban
2016 honda accord EX-L in V6 Manual. Unfortunately still street parking it
I have my RX7 FD which I’ll probably never sell. Thinking of picking up something with a PD diesel to run on veg oil.
2001 AWD GMC Safari
Have a 2005 honda pilot and a 2002 honda civic. The pilot has 160000 miles and the civic has 70000 miles. Both bought new and I have taken care of them and they live in a garage. The will have to pry my dead hands from them. Fuck electic cars.
>forever
yeah it's called a motorcycle
Crusty dusty 1981 300SD Mercedes. Om617. Runs well, looks great inside, like shit outside. Been working on it about a year now trying to get it mint.
summoning Wayne
with his benz
late in the thread
I have one of these. It doesn't have the fastest acceleration or top speed but who cares, it does everything a car should.
Suburban gang here. Just got a clean GMT400 if the rusted GMT800 goes down.
01 mercedes ml320 (heavily abused)
03 accord (spare trans in shed)
71 nova (for ladies)
Gets me by
gf drives a 97 Camry. goddamn thing is invincible. we just put a new drivers side CV axle in, valve cover gasket, new plugs + wires, PCV, all in a few afternoons with youtube and some tools. scored it for $500, previous owner had a cold air intake and custom headers, and we'll probably find more riced out shit the further we get in to maintenance. so far the only real problem we have is the bumpers keep falling off kek.
I had a Datsun 280ZX. L28E. Manual. Always well maintained.
...
Bad memories now...
i have a 7.3l econoline 3500 and a 5.7l express 3500
