            This is Gandharan, not Pajeet.

AFAIK Pajeets didn't have anything resembling metal armor (or even gambesons) until the Muslim conquests. Gandhara was under Persian, Scythian, Kushan, and Greek influence, so it is an exception.

            Anonymous

Gandhara was far more connected to India than Persia or Central Asia, for example there's no mention of the Persians or Alexander in any Gandharan record but references to other Indian states are commonplace, and they never thought of themselves as being separate from India like they did with Scythians or the Kushan who are explicitly referred to as barbarians.

India was always a priest dominated society. Brahmin caste has less Indo-European admixture and more neolithic Iranian. The Kshatriya caste is more Indo-European because invaders usually replace or assimilate into upper classes. Same reasons boyars used to be the Russian nobility. Invading a declining civilization isn't a great achievement moron.

The middle class doesn't give a shit about Indians. Working class Australians hate Indians because 'they're taking our jobs' and 'they're shit workers'.

I work day to day with truck drivers, and the second point is quite frankly true. Their attitude towards safety is appalling, and when told the word 'no' they beg plead and try to bargain.
This anger is misplaced though, and ought to be directed at both major parties who are beholden to our construction, banking and higher education sectors who insist on population growth without end.

    >China had youxia

Youxia aren't a warrior class, they're just the name for armed adventurers like mercenaries or militiamen, usually in service of the law or some righteous ideal.

The actual Chinese Knight equivalent was the Shi. Nowaday's its the formal address for any Chinese gentleman, but during the Zhou/Pre-unification period, they were the feudal warrior-bureaucrat class of Zhou Kings & Nobles. In peace their served their feudal lords as bureaucrats and in war they fought as chariotborne armored warriors who were also tasked to recruit and maintain footsoldiers for their lord's armies. They were the only ones permitted to serve militarily and thus the only non-nobles allowed to own and carry weapons.

China's warrior class disappeared early in its history as said classes tend not to survive prolonged total warfare. In the brutal world of the Post-Zhou Warring States period (700s-200s BC), Dukes & Kings lost thousands of Shi in long campaigns, lost battles, and general attrition. As the warrior class couldn't refill its ranks quick enough, Chinese kings opened up military service to commoners as either volunteers and warriors, which in turn decreased reliance upon the nobility in favor of a central bureaucratic government that is able to control and direct state resources in a total war effort. By 400s BC, Chinese warrior culture died and was replaced by a military culture.

wasnt being soldier actually seen dishonorable and a some sort of slavery in Chinese society?

        Anonymous

No, it actually was seen quite highly by the commoners as one of the few ways anyone could rise in power since being an educated bureaucrat isn't accessible to anyone.

Among the Confucian Scholar-Bureaucrat Aristocracy they are generally wary vs. military men for their tendency to go rogue, go warlord, or defy the government for personal interests. Like a modern government the Scholar-Bureaucrat tends to believe more on Civil > Military authority as necessary for a state's stability.

          >No, it actually was seen quite highly by the commoners as one of the few ways anyone could rise in power since being an educated bureaucrat isn't accessible to anyone.
then why people who fail the imperial exam didnt simply enter the military exams intead? They either returned to life or changed their lives from now that day drastically (for example becoming a rebel).
          >Among the Confucian Scholar-Bureaucrat Aristocracy they are generally wary vs. military men for their tendency to go rogue, go warlord, or defy the government for personal interests.
maybe that is why military jobs were not preferred it is like the "Sword of Damocles"

            Anonymous

            >then why people who fail the imperial exam didnt simply enter the military exams intead?
They did. There's a reason why only 2 Chinese Dynasties ran conscript armies: military service was seen as a very profitable and easy way to climb the social ladder if you're a peasant and one of the few salaried jobs available to non-bureaucrats. You don't even have to join the military: if you're a privately raised warband of noted prowess the government might recognize your capability and commission a rank for you. Many bandits & pirates got rehabilitated that way lmao.

            >maybe that is why military jobs were not preferred
What the Scholar Bureaucrats want =/= what Chinese Commoners wanted.

You know what the Scholar Bureaucrats actually hated more than rebellious military men? Merchants. The Scholar-Gentry thought that if left to themselves they were parasites who profited from the labor of others and use their wealth for their own gain rather than for the benefit of the country. And yet despite whatever opinions the Scholar-Gentry had against Merchants, entrepreneurship is highly respected in Chinese society and the merchants formed a de facto 3rd aristocratic class despite their technically low social status (at the bottom of the Confucian Social ladder, even below the Farmer).
