dealer just called me asking if i want to buy this car.
I preordered?
Any advise? I want a TRD pro tacoma.
The only thing I care about is whether it is reliable. I know the tacoma will never die, but I don't know about GMC.
I will use this to go to work everyday.
please give me some advise.
I wish I could afford this but I can't so instead I buy $1500 off road beaters without titles and drive them until the local cops stop me
Giga based. What happens when the cops stop you? Just a ticket?
GM disco'd both the oil burner and the stick shift afaik, and you can only get it with a turbo 4/slushbox so there's really no reason to go that route.
Toyota will have a ballsless engine you have to rev the shit out of to make power no matter which of their engines you pick, but you can get it with a clutch pedal, so do that.
bro is the automatic really that fucking bad or are you being autistic? I need to be objective here bro.
will this piece of shit gmc die on me 60k miles in? 100k miles in? I want this for the longhaul.
I know the tacoma will last me decades.
He's a fucking retard. I have an 05 V6 taco in manual. My mom an 07 auto. The automatics get better fuel economy, are built better, and tow better. My mom has 330k on her 07 with basic maintenance.
Don't let a dealer shuffle you into some other piece of trash you didn't want in the first place, as it enables dealers and automakers to just put 'safe' boring things on their lot. They probably want to sell your order to some other asshat but with their special markup.
The auto in the current Tacoma tries to 'learn' your driving habits, so on top of modern autos being trash, if you do anything different after it figured you out, it will start hunting. Unlikely to notice if you just use it to commute. The manual obviously does not have this problem but (You) don't strike me as someone that would appreciate a manual.
>Still thinking Toyota USA is reliable
They take kaizen principles a little too far, which has resulted in their trucks ending up as a series of compromises.
GM trucks are the only worthwhile thing in their lineup, but the twins are just Isuzu Dmax pickups with a garbage engine and redone interior and front. How much they gutted it to keep its capabilities under their 1500 lineup or how much margin they're enjoying from the gutting is anyone's guess.
>so on top of modern autos being trash, if you do anything different after it figured you out, it will start hunting.
If the car has a manual mode, I use it. I've noticed autos never really fully learn what I want out of them, or that I don't work with its shift logic. They can't rev match either.
>They take kaizen principles a little too far, which has resulted in their trucks ending up as a series of compromises.
Kaizen only really works with the Japanese. When applied to Americans, Kaizen is an excuse to cut corners. Conceptions are not universal and it's foolish to think they're interchangeable with completely contrary forms of mind and actions.
100% chance that a modern auto shifts better than both of you contrarian luddites. Delusions of grandeur.
>100% chance that a modern auto shifts better than both of you contrarian luddites.
It probably does, but I don't like shift bumps that it's programmed with, so I use manual mode to do 2nd gear starts and smooth, seamless shifts.
I really should just go to a planetary gear CVT since that's what I'm imitating with manual mode.
stop derailing my thread retard,
you dont own either of these cars stfu
i preordered on website
Diesel canyons are pretty based, 30mpg average for a 5k mile trip
u nagger, they are not making the new canyon in diesel.
Then wait and get the taco to save yourself some trouble in the long run my dude. Don’t get talked into getting something you don’t want by some scummy salesweasel. They don’t give a fuck about you, they just want to move inventory. Cough up the cash for something you want. Life is too short and the economy is too shitty to make those sorts of compromises
>dealer just called me asking if i want to buy this car
Why do they have your real phone number? Why did you answer?
>dealer just called me asking if i want to buy this car.
Did someone else back out of the order? Dealers are having a really bad time of holding bags on special order vehicles. They're not as affordable as Joe NPC thought he could pay with 5.6% APR.
are you asking us if you preordered a car?
Pickups are for posers
>considering buying midsize truck (50-60k)
>own a boat but only trailer it twice a year to drop the boat in to our lake in spring and pull it out in fall
>just get a 4x6 trailer at lowes instead for $998
>add some plywood flooring and side panels to it for $100 in materials and a Saturday afternoon
>can haul mulch and stone just fine, good enough for landscaping
>made friends with a guy at work who has a truck and he’ll let me use his to tow the boat
Trucks are gay and pointless unless you’re dropping a boat in every weekend like a poorfag (get a lake house + dock) or you have horses or something. My little trailer is based AF and gets the job done.
what is with you fags copeing up every thread about trucks?
ok yeah uh-huh your 4x6 trailer to haul your "boat" is just as good
>I want a TRD pro tacoma.
kind of over priced imo, I have an off-road trim and I think the big thing the pro offers is better shocks, and a spacer lift, there might be a few other things too. I think the pro is missing a rear locker btw.
GM has seemed like it has been going downhill. I test drove some lease returns and the transfer case was leaking at the seals with only 30k on the one. I figured I would just go taco because if I hated it at least it will hold its value and can be used as a trade in, but so far its been fine.
With a new Tacoma generation coming up in 2024, I would wait if I were you.
New Ranger (VW Amarok w/o the badge engineering) comes out this summer/fall.
