      >>You need a separate whole IDE for each language you write
      With the exception of a few, all of their IDEs are really just plugins that work in Intellj IDEA Ultimate. The purpose of standalone IDEs is to offer that specific language at a reduced price point.

        I've used Intellij IDEA Ultimate for a long time and this is only somewhat true. The plugins for Ultimate are usually way behind and there are a lot of plugin integration bugs that don't get looked at nearly as fast as the language specific IDE bugs.

      But it's just so superior that it's worth it for any serious work.

      >vscode
      Not RAD, not IDE, just a M$ text editor that can't even do standard MS things like putting configs in AppData/Roaming (or registry) instead of fucking dotfiles on userdir root, or actually supporting middle-click scroll that all M$ products support.

    What do these paying jetbrains product have that is better than community edition+extension?

      I'll say this, their support for specific languages, their tooling and debugging has no match in any editor, everything just fucking works, the mother fuckers are just superior when it comes to code analyzing and auto importing
      >use vscode
      >write Class::staticMethod
      >header/file/library/import automatically typed at the top as soon as I write the class

      Now vscode
      >write class::method
      >have to put the cursor in the class name and press ctrl + alt + I
      >question pops
      >which class you want to import

      However, fuck intellij for being written in Java, fucking memory hog, hsf it been written in c++ it would be unbeatable

    Oh yeah?
    Well I don't see Rust integrated into Excel.

      Seconded. This """language""" is a joke until it's in Excel

    Yeah, this just proves that Rust is more popular than LULZ insists if they were willing to make a whole new IDE just dedicated to it.

    What features could it possibly have to justify a separate IDE? Clion is/was nice because you got C and C++ support along with Rust, but if they take out Rust support, then why shouldn't I just switch to neovim or vscode with Rust analyzer?

      That's a good point. C/Rust mixed code projects are very common, separating them is like separating away Kotlin from Intellij IDEA (Java IDE).

      >still cant decide core features
      I thought it was parallelism. That's it.
      All that talk about protection against buffer overflow is just smoke and mirrors, even fucking Pascal can do that. It's a non-feature.

        >All that talk about protection against buffer overflow
        That's mostly not what they talk about. You're missing use-after-free, that's the borrow checker's primary target.
