GuestThis might be true. I have zero fear of camping alone and thinking of it as super comfy. But when I was a teen I remember wandering around different wildernesses freaking myself out over ghosts and shit for no reason like a 24 carat scrotebrain.

GuestI camp alone all the time and ive only interacted with two people in the 10 years ive been doing it
>a guy and his son stumbled across my camp while they were hunting deer
>offered them some coffee and they were on their way>other time a group of eco hippies stumbled across my camp
>mistook my snoring for a log cutter and hung out with me for a bit
>one of the hippie girls stayed for a while and ended up living with me for three years -

Only reason I haven’t done this is honestly the boredom. I LOVE camping with the lads but anytime I get the urge to go out solo I think wtf am I going to do for 4-6 hours while its dark and I’m alone?-

GuestI did camp alone in November and it was kinda a mistake:
>already dark at 7pm
>just lay in my spleeping bag and try to sleep
>can’t read book because I’m just too exhausted from day hike
>can’t do a big camp fire thanks to being in a shit and densely populated country with gay laws.
>bad camp spot with no water
>didn’t even had good food with me, just rice
So after 3h trying to sleep I say fuck this shit and did a night hike back to my car. Took nearly 4 hours and at the beginning its stress me out like some Skinwalker is after me. I relax after the first few hundred meter and spotted a few deers. Its just better if you go with a mate.-

GuestHaving another person would have made the food better? The campsite have water? Protect you from slinderman? You’re simultaneously too tired to read and two antsy to sleep! Bet you don’t feel that way at home, when Tyrone could kick in your door at any moment

GuestDepends where you’re going man. In some places the chances of encountering dangerous animals is pretty high. The day you come face to face with a grizzly or male moose you won’t regret bringing a gun.

GuestI take the gun but it’s really for tweakers, illegal alien dope growers on public lands, feral dogs that some poopyholes chained outside until they had the good fortune to escape, bellicose poachers, all of which are more likely than a bear attack..all of which are preferable to ass cancer. Charlie gave her HPV ass cancer!

GuestI get less scared of people messing with me the further from the trailhead I go, especially on trails that only allow transportation by foot, bike, horse. If you’re 12 miles up a trail, it would take serious commitment and planning from a psycho person, and often there is just one or two trails exiting the area, so they might not feel secure fleeing the area. I’d be more worried camping with a mile or two from a road or homes.

GuestMy fondest memory camping is sitting in the dark clutching my rifle while some critter paced around my tent. It was in the Colorado Rockies and I know it wasn’t a raccoon or possum or skunk from the sound because those walk by my window every other night. Do coyotes live up in the mountains? I was at over 12k feet. I wonder if it was bigfoot or a cougar?

GuestOne of my coworkers asked me this when we were talking about shit we do. She was definitely your usual "i like pizza and dogs" kind of female from the city. All sorts of worried about lions and tigers and bears, oh my.
I just told her that I’ve never had a wild animal try to pick a fight with me, and I’ve had a handful of drunk people attempt it. -

GuestExactly when I was younger I was afraid of going in the woods by myself. Now I’m 6’6 and constantly carry a machete every time I’m out and about. The moment it dawned on me that I was the thing people feared seeing in the woods gives me a strange feeling of security like I’m the largest fish in the pond I’m the apex predator and this is MY woods. It’s a really hard feeling to explain unless you experience it yourself

GuestI bought a minivan took all the bucket seats out and put a foldable stand up cot and -15 sleeping bag inside i also took the passenger bucket seat out and i store my 10 foot fishing kayak inside i got my axe some firewood and camp stove and cooler. I would never sleep in a tent. Watched way to many videos on the internet of bear attacks that have permantly spooked me. All i have if i run into a grizzly while im hiking is bear spray and buck knife and if he wants to eat me well then im bonked they will never let me own a gun. Camping alone is the best thing in the world but i do get spooked sometimes when im in very remote places when its dead quite you almost anticipate hearing something very loud. Best to dessotize yourself over and over to get over that i would think. I would also just want to add fuck scrotes fuck garden gnomes and fuck jannies

GuestA few weeks back i was hunting alone on a multi day trip for deer. Got a doe on the first day and was horny as fuck so i decided to fuck it. Was one of the best nuts of my life. I sent videos to a bunch of hoes on my snapchat and they all liked it. Kept the body warm next to a fire and went for five rounds that day.

GuestI followed a lot of the advice in here and went on my first long hike alone at night, deep into the woods. After I got over my anxiety and sense that everything was looking at me, or stalking me, or my sense of human figures in my peripheral vision, it was actually quite nice to spend so much time feeling utterly alone under the beautiful full moon. I felt like I was actually becoming part of the woods, not an interloper, and at some point I stopped straining my ears against the wind to listen for murderous footsteps, and I stopped hearing what I thought was whispers of human voices in the distance. It really does become comfy to be out/alone in the dark, and I have to thank you all for helping me to get over myself. All I brought with me was a knife, which I laughably told myself would be useful if someone or something had decided to set upon me. The only thing is that now that I am back, the world seems somehow slightly distored in a way that I can’t really place, and I keep hearing something that seems like fey voices at the very edge of my senses. When I look out my window into the darkness of the forest behind my house, my eyes play tricks that there is something out there moving, dancing even. I want to join them. I need to join them. Anyone else have this problem?

Any time I come back from the woods or vacation I always wonder why I bother with daily bullshit like work and other people. It’s normal to want to go back to the trees after staying there for a while.
