every video/article i’ve seen that reviews resumes has said skill bars are scrotebrained. you either know a language or you don’t. if you know it, don’t tell the person you want to hire you that you aren’t an expert and they should just hire the next poopyhole who says he knows it really well. and don’t waste their time by telling them you kind of know a language after reading a hello world tutorial. let your portfolio show them how well you know your shit instead of a freaking bar

Because it’s nearly the same thing, only you’re limited to a small subset of inline html along with github flavored markdown syntax.
github pages also lets you be as creative as you want with a static webpage and client-side javascript, many people feel the need to make their github profile a freaking resume.
