The natives are among the most if not the most feared mafias in Canada. Unlike in America enough Natives lived to actually assert power though only really in the underworld since they were still disenfranchised. They also came from generally much more violent groups. There was a famous French Canadian gangster who was a professional wrestler as well. He was feared in Montreal until he crossed the native gangs. They just kicked his door in one night, emptied two machine guns in him and simply walked out the door. They also have a street gangs and have pushed the Italians out of a lot of crime in Canada. They really don’t have much to lose so they just don’t care.

nah most English speaking Canadians are descendants of Highland Scottish or Irish settlers from after the American war or from German and Slavic immigrants who arrived here in the late 19th or early 20th century. United Empire Loyalists really only settled in Southern Ontario and their descendants make up a very small percentage of Canadians today. Just a bunch of mutts like the US except a lot less dagos and blacks.

There’s two main reasons,
1) America DID try to invade Canada and got BTFO. Their White House was burned down.
2) by the time America was strong enough to take Canada, Britain and its empire (including Canada) was by far the USA’s largest trading partner. So what economic logic would there be in invading Canada, in exchange for losing their biggest trading partner? The economic losses would be insane for a negligible gain

You also forgot the part where explorers in Canada went and established a series of border forts all the way to the Pacific before the Americans were able to. Alexander Mackenzie beat Lewis and Clark by about a decade. Similarly, the US had little to no claim or control over the Pacific coast as it was divided up through treaties between the Spanish and British who had been exploring it. It wasn’t until half a century later that the US was actually able to resolve their claim over the Pacific Northwest, which is why there’s a city named after George Vancouver in the middle of what’s now Washington state.

It actually was considered, especially after the US captured Mexico City during the Mexican-American War, but Congress was against the idea of incorporating a nonwhite population into the country. Which is funny considering there were almost as many blacks in the south at that time as there were people in the entirety of Mexico.

The problem is that they’d have to both decide between whether the new non white population would have equal rights to whites once given American citizenship, and also whether the new states made out of conquered Mexican territories would be slave states or not
For a long time the big push was that for every free state a slave state had to be made to keep the balance equal.
The existing conquered Mexican territories we’re all free states as a result of the Wilson prvoviso, which REALLY pissed off slave states. And the only reason it wasn’t a bigger issue is that the vast majority of the territories conquered were barely populated.
If they’d conquered further south it’d have been a much bigger issue

Because after the debacle of 1812 there wasn’t really any pressing reason to. There was nothing in Canada that couldn’t be got through trade, they weren’t exactly a threat, so why bother then with freaking with the delicate state balance? the US had enough problems annexing the places it actually wanted, and which seemed way more valuable.
