you can "sub" using rss.
and you can use a keyboard shortcut to open the videos in mpv from whatever rss reader you use. -

I don’t use Youtube. If someone posts a link or I get one as a web search result I just open it with mpv.

Freetube is just an Electron (Chromium) app for invidious. I don’t care, it’s still better thans sitting through sponsors and giving views to scrotebrains on youtube.

i keep checking back every 60 days whether it supports playlists yet and seems like it’s never gonna happen
so it just remains easier with rss and a dedicated youtube firefox profile and tree style tabs
