GuestYou’ll find some places do check credit for renting in Europe, it depends on the market (like in London or Paris the market is nuts and nobody gives a shit beyond getting people in, in surrounding areas and medium sized cities some places will check), and if you ever got as far as being taken to court you’re bonked pretty much most places. Employment would be a big no no though, but banks used to pretty much spy on employee’s accounts in many places like pre 2000s.

Guest>>car loan?
buy a used car, with cash. no loan.
>>mortgage?
offer a bigger down payment and/or get mom to cosign for you.
>>utility company runs credit check on you?
pay the deposit.
>>employer runs credit check?
isn’t this illegal?
>>credit card for a big purchase?
save money, buy it with cash.
>>latest phone on contract?
even stupider than leasing a car. Buy a $150 phone with cash, get a prepaid plan.
>>take out insurance?
They didn’t ask me to do that. but I’m guessing even if they did if you pay a full year then the next year they’ll let you pay monthly or whatever.
>>hire purchase/buy now pay later?
don’t do that.
>>leasing?
as in the car, above? don’t do that.
>>renting?
so get a guarantor. Or just offer to prepay X months of it, like some of the other things.
>>interest free credit?
For what? All this boils down to a very simple concept: Don’t buy shit that you can’t afford. If you have the cash for it sitting in your account, you can afford it. If you don’t, you can’t. I’d say the only exception to that rule that I’d countenance is a mortgage. Everything else, you just don’t borrow money that you don’t have.

Guesttheir parents never taught them any of that "delayed gratification" stuff. They see thing, they want thing, they won’t wait for thing. Sure they’re freaking themselves over, but they never think about that, that’s a problem for future them. Then the end of the month comes and they’re broke and have a bunch of bills and they wonder how this happened. Do they pare back their expenses? No, they just do whatever it is that they have to do to pay off the most pressing bills and carry on.
getting my first job and meeting people who live like this was alarming and unsettling, they’re most of the population.

GuestThis was something that surprised me too. I didn’t actually realise that people still lived like that, until I met my flatmate’s work friend. She was making pretty good money as an accountant, but she was essentially broke. I totally couldn’t understand why. She had a decent job and it didn’t seem like her expenses were all that high, but turns out she bought a lot of clothes.
Really surprising and she didn’t even seem the type to blow all her money on dumb shit like that.-

GuestThere was a greentext a while back of some dude who was a builder or some shit, I forget, basically some blue collar job.
He had a friend who forgot something at his house and the anon offered to take him to his house to pick it up.
When he got there, the house was in a super shitty part of town, was tiny, had a matress on the floor, a computer or whatever, a very cheap tv and all he ate was packet ramen.
The anon asked him why he lived that way, he had money enough to move somewhere nicer.
He replied that he was trying to become financially independent and invested almost everything of his paycheck.
Apparently the dude had like $2m in assets and had done pretty well out of crypto.
He was trying to get to $4m.
I was so freaking impressed, but as with anything on this site, it’s hard to know if it’s true.
I like to think savings-anon is out there somewhere, waiting for the numbers to hit before he cashes out and has a chill life. -

GuestAmericans have been taught to live this way so that bankers get to slowly bleed them dry for everything their whole life, which in turn makes the "economical growth factor" look good. Buy a brand new car on loan now instead of a used one so that we get to brag about how many new cars were sold this year and thus everything is rosy. You don’t need to own realestate goy, just rent it your whole life! Leave nothing for your kids and grandkids the way your parents and grandparents left nothing for you.

GuestTaking out a loan makes a lot of sense for a lot of situations, but I agree that most people make bad decisions about what they take out loans on.
I like to use zero interest credit cards to buy things I need (e.g. replaced shitty builder-grade toilets a few months ago), but maintain a strong cash flow position in the event there is something I *can’t* use credit for (e.g. charged extra fees for paying with credit or simply not accepting credit). I’d rather build a strong savings now that I can dip into later than cut into my savings all in one transaction.
The same applies to business. I bought a $20k software license but took a loan out on it, not because I can’t afford to pay $20k up front, but because I want the $20k cash to be available during a scale up. Of course I can pay it off whenever I need to, but cash available now is good. -

a cosigner is only on the hook if you default, do you even know how any of this works?
>or just have a good credit history?
Paying more in interest than the deposit costs? why?
>But other companies may also ask for permission
"No, I don’t give you permission."
>What if you need it now? Idiot.
One, most things, you DON’T need it now. Two, for something that you genuinely do need to buy immediately (maybe your furnace broke? consooming does not qualify) then you just take some money out of savings and pay for it. When you’re not pissing all your cash away, you can save some of it in case something happens, you see.
>Enjoy being socially shunned with a crappy $150 phone that’ll break in 13 months.
I’ve been using a $150 since 2017, and it works fine, I don’t see how it wouldn’t be good for another four years. If some cocksucker looks down on me because I don’t have some flagship or the latest iThing then why do I want to know the poopyhole in the first place? People who only associate with others who keep up with the Joneses are shallow and not going to add anything to your life.
>"I’m guessing" is not woke af in reality.
Tons of places will give ground on this sort of thing if you offer more up front.
>Why, there’s no difference to paying up front as long as you pay back in the term?
You’re paying interest.
>It’s great for your credit profile.
So? If I’m not going to borrow (because that costs more – interest) then I don’t need the "credit profile" shit. You’re just wasting money buying the ability to waste more money.
>Again, see previous.
Likewise. Leasing is stupid. For the same price as a three-year lease you could buy a used car and own it outright. Yours forever. Instead of spending the money and then having no car after three years.-

You’re showing your true financial independence having to get mommy to help you. What if she fails the credit check they do on her? What are you gonna do then?

Interest on utilities? are you a moron? Actually, we have already answered that.
>"No, I don’t give you permission."
Can I be denied a job because of bad credit?
Unfortunately, yes. If your employer feels your current financial situation could impact your ability to perform well in the role, or your credit history reveals evidence of bad financial planning, they may decide not to employ you.

As with phones, your car also determines your social value and your access to opportunities. Not doublespaced. Doublespacing is the following
This is a doublespaced sentence.
In my case, I’m merely beginning a new paragraph to separate out distinct thoughts. This is fairly common for people who do any kind of work with language, like programming for instance, which is one of the main topics of this board.
You didn’t address any of my points and spouted out le epic memes. Most of the things you listed are not mainstream and barely anyone remembers. I’m legitimately concerned for you if you are old enough to remember all of that, and yet you still act (and write) like a preteen.

pfffhahahahahahaha that’s why DPT can stay on the catalog for up to 2 days? This is a freaking consumer electronics board, stop attempting to lord over people by saying that programming is this huge thing here when it isn’t.

You are a massive freaking scrotebrain. The only way you would pay interest on a BNPL arrangement is if you didn’t pay back in the interest-free term. Funnily enough, if you pay back in the interest free term, you pay the cash price of the product, and NOTHING ELSE. But apparently this concept is too difficult for you.

If I have the cash to do that, why would I bother? I’d just hand over the cash and buy the thing outright. Then I own it and there’s no having to remember to make a payment by X time or else I get charged extra.

And the only reason to care is if you want a loan. I don’t need or want the loan, so I don’t care. All you’re saying is that I should borrow money, which will let me borrow more money, and then that’ll let me borrow even more money. Why?
>Not to mention rewards, points, cashback, flyer miles, bonuses and discounts
I don’t want "rewards points" or "miles". I remember my dad freaking with those things growing up, and picking which card to use at a restaurant or a gas station woke af on which gave him more miles. And then every year the card company increased the price of the rewards you could get with it. You could get flights, provided you were willing to fly when you didn’t want to (bunch of blackout dates), and the other rewards were mostly stupid home-goods stuff and luxury junk that we didn’t need. Cash back? Leave the money in savings, it pays you interest.
>Be responsible with credit and you’ll find yourself richer.
You can use lots of dangerous and harmful things "responsibly". You can drink responsibly or gamble responsibly or so on. But the safest and healthiest thing to do is and always will be "just say no". Same with debt. -

I addressed your dumb point about psychological studies by pointing out that this site is a giant larpfest, which would make the study freaking useless as you could not discern between fact and fiction, due to the sheer amount of trolling. I also addressed the mainstream argument by stating a series of mainstream things going back as far as 2006. This site is massively mainstream and gets millions of unique visitors. it’s not the sekrit klub you think it is.[…]

GuestMost BNPL companies make money on merchant fees and late payment fees.
If you’re responsible and don’t spend money you don’t have, you can use it to your advantage.
Coupled with a credit card, I can defer payments up to 6 months without spending an extra cent, and collect the interest on that.I can definitely see how it can easily spiral out of control for those who are irresponsible and I thank those dumbasses.

Have you not heard the term "trust-fund baby"? It’s a derisive term. So no, not really considering most people blow their inheritances. Funnily enough, the ones that are actually independent from inheritance do something with the money like investment, not just leaving it to sit or blowing it all.

GuestAway from desk on phone so my replies will be brief:
Train and bus seats are filthy as fuck. So are used cars. Don’t hurt your own health because you’re buying a used car and “saving money”, with no telling what problems it has under the hood.
You don’t have to waste money to get good credit. Pay on time or early, you pay little to no interest, and you get access to better products and services in the future. Be irresponsible, and you get consequences. It’s that simple.
Cool, so go look at some high paying jobs on indeed or something or use searx or whatever schizo thing. You’ll find the words “credit check” everywhere.
See above regarding interest rates.
BNPL is great when you need something now and have the ability to spread the cost. In regards to your argument about saving, if you have $250 extra in your savings each month because you’re paying $50 over 6 months on a $300 item, that’s more money from your AER, no?Yes, by showing you can repay commitments you get more credit. Just like in society. You make your commitments, you show up on time, you get more clout. It’s that easy.
You’re turning down free money and opportunities by not taking advantage of rewards programs while managing your finances responsibly. It’s that simple. Let others who aren’t responsible pay for your stuff. that’s how they make money. Not on the responsible forward thinking individual, but the moron.

>For what?
For literally anything?>All this boils down to a very simple concept: Don’t buy shit that you can’t afford. If you have the cash for it sitting in your account, you can afford it. If you don’t, you can’t. I’d say the only exception to that rule that I’d countenance is a mortgage. Everything else, you just don’t borrow money that you don’t have.
All this boils down to a very simple concept: Be responsible with credit, pay your bills on time, pay by the due dates to avoid interest, collect points, cashback and frequent flyer miles etc, coverage against fraud, chargebacks, history of good credit management and repayment, and there are literally no downsidesThis is why leases exist. You pay less and just give the car back at the end. Plus many leases include additional perks like insurance, gifts and cashback.

Guarantors have more stringent financial stuff than the renters, they can require double the income of what they’d give a typical renter. In other words if you’re poor mommy and/or daddy needs to be rich, guarantors aren’t like a magic fix.

GuestAll of these things wouldn’t be a problem if credit wasn’t a thing in the first place. Credit is just a trick to get people tied to debt their entire lives. The fact that people can borrow has inflated the price on all of these things, and now we all HAVE to borrow to afford them unless we come from rich families.

What you fail to understand being a recluse is that everything is interconnected
>get education: get money
>socialise: get friends
>get money: get resources
>get resources and socialise: get women
>get more resources: move up in society, get more powerful friends and relations
>rinse repeat until death
Many people die wishing they had owned more stuff, or a nicer car, or a nicer retirement. Many people wish they could pass on a fortune to their children. Many people wish they had done better deals, made their own successful business, jet setted around the world, owned a yacht or plane, become famous, starred in a movie, released their own song, had their talent or art recognised. Stop projecting your own misfortunate circumstance onto others and claiming it the norm. Because you’re empirically wrong. -

GuestIf you want to buy a house/car and get a loan, better credit = higher chances of getting the loan at all and lower interest rates.
When you sign a new lease for an apartment, you usually get a lower required deposit if you have good credit.
Then applying for a credit card is a lot easier with better credit.

Guestnot that anon but loans are leverage, people that can afford things also get loans too
For example, one of my credit cards had a bonus promotion going on, 0% APR on purchases for 9 months, Which means if I buy something for $900 and divided the payments up equally (it doesn’t have to be equal), I pay $100 per month and by the 9th month the whole loan will be paid off with interest, so that is no extra cost
If I have the whole $900 at the time of purchase, and I put it into an investment that earns 8% a year, then the first month I earn $6, the second month I earn $5.33, etc etc until the end where I still spent the $900 but used it to simultaneously earn a little bit of money this reducing the overall cost of the product.
yes $6 is a small amount of money, that is why people who use loans, hold their loans much longer than 9 months and for much higher amounts than $900, to earn more money over time

If a loans interest is 0% that is god tier, but as long as the interest in APR is lower than the gain % from whatever you invest in with the money, then you’re good

To award idiots that spend money they don’t have, while punishing people that save. And this arbitrary number that only has been around for half of century can control your life from loan rates to housing. AKA bank scamming their customers out of money like usual.-

This is basically it. There is no other purpose.
The entire system would crumble if people stopped being scrotebrained and only started spending money they actually own.

wow that was hardI freaking hate cloudflare. Every site I connect to that uses the "checking your browser" bullshit filters me instantly, even though I’m on my home network and not behind 7 proxies. I can’t even access my bank without switching to mobile.
The most "suspicious" thing about my network might be that it is a Tor relay, not even an exit node.-

You start at the top unlike Americans that have to "improve" their credit score. They don’t track your spending habits or anything else like that, that’s illegal in first world countries.

It might cost you some money but look at getting your own phone plan because they can weigh in utility bills and shit too but you probably don’t want to put your parents’ power or water in your name, right? This creditscore shit is only hard for freaking mongoloid scrotebrains and you’ll have a 700 credit score before you’re allowed to drink if you just go out and get a babby credit card and pay it off without carrying a balance like youse a good boy. GuestThis is a terrible idea and I’d start a company dedicated to boosting middle upper class peoples credit scores by faking their internet history and making a brazillion dollars.

it’s almost the same kek>Credit lending companies are free to do whatever they want to avoid lending money to those who can’t pay it off.

GuestCouldn’t you easily exploit something like this to boost your credit score? Search for the right terms and shit a whole bunch of times. But whatever I’m a neet who’s only real credit accomplishment was my student loan was paid off. But even good shit only stays on there for a certain amount of time before I’m screwed again with no big record of any activity, which honestly isn’t fair, I did prove my trustworthiness in the rare event I needed it why should it be erased? No they want me to get unnecessary credit cards and shit? I mean I’m responsible but I just don’t need crap like that.

also VPN chaining/ Proxy Chaining

GuestReading through this thread, still am baffled by how LULZtards think. Yanno what smart anons out there, just leave em be. If they’re scrotebrained and can’t bother to use the amenities of modernity within reason and benefit off of them, let them be their incel outcast scrotebrained selves. You guys are only hurting yourself with stupid “buy gold!! Buy a farm!! Why would I ever use a loan or CC?!?!” Rhetoric
Start looking for your schlomo.jpgs now you schizo freaks

GuestBretty sure browsing LULZ will help unless there is someone with personal vendetta that hard-coded it to be bad. Most of the people I see are financially solvent, or totally dependent on their financially solvent parents. /r9k/ and /lgbt/ withstanding.

GuestThere is no way for this to work. First off they’d have to force google and other companies to hand over user data which won’t happen. They’d have to connect the accounts to individuals precisely (probably ask for ID) since for example your kid could have a Google account with your address and your credit card number so all previous web history would be pointless and people if I had to guess would not do this. This seems like a click bait article and the real article probably has one random guy or group of people saying "maybe this should happen". Credit score is already not calculated by low hanging fruit such as what you buy with your debit card. kys stop reading click bait garbage. Reading headlines is for POL
