You posted it. I haven’t come across another player that lets you get as good picture quality as mpc-* + madvr while also having more robust and flexible options. I also don’t have to worry about madvr expiring because of madshi’s time bombs.

Why wouldn’t you map different options in input.conf? Some screenshots are too large in file size to post.

It normalizes audio so files with loud actions scenes and quiet dialog are more tolerable. I rarely have to use it which is why I keep it off by default and toggle it on when I think it will help.

this, never understood why you’d want to bother with the crappy mpv’s default gui

        >Proper clients should use libmpv, or at least the json IPC. smplayer does several things in a way we don’t like to see (and tends to thoroughly break mpv’s defaults).
        https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/issues/1995

        >In general, we do not recommend SMPlayer because it does not use the correct interface for mpv (which would be libmpv) and instead has hacks in place to treat mpv as if it were MPlayer (from which it is very different). If you can’t live without a frontend (you should try, it’s actually not that bad)

MPC-HC has a forked versionthat gets regular updates.
        https://github.com/clsid2/mpc-hc/releases/
MPC-HC uses Lavfilter which is woke af on ffmpeg, they are usually up to date but if you must you can install the lasted lav filter by googling "lav filter nightly" and downloading the latest.

Those are some very detailed guides, but really all you need is NGU Sharp High(Very High provides very low image quality improvement over High and has very high GPU usage, if you can afford go ahead thou)

            Luma over Chroma, ALWAYS.
If you have to decrease Chroma quality to increase Luma then do so, Chroma quality matters very little and you get better gains using high quality scaling algorightms with Luma.

i’m guessing you’re just talking about chrome upscaling that matters most?

                No, "image upscaling" is Luma.
There’s no reason to use high quality algorithms on chroma because they give very little gains. Compare the most basic chroma upscaler, billiniear against the highers tier one NGU and you’re not going to notice much of a difference(if any at all) but GPU use will skyrocket.
That’s why it’s best to use high quality algorithms with luma instead(image upscaling) and use basic upscaler like (cubic) for chroma.

As a matter for fact yes I can.
                    try
                    filebin net/uf42askalhy1ksfl
Go to your madvr folder and backup/delete your settings.bin folder, then run the "restore default settings bat" file then copy the downloaded settings.bin into the same folder.

This setting files has profiles for different resolutions SD,720p and 1080p also for framerates below 30 and above. totaling 6 profiles which you can adjust individually.
Adjust woke af on your GPU(basically just go to the image upscaling settings and change accordingly) 480p(SD) upscaled to 1080p will require more GPU power than native 1080p, the same for 720p to 1080p.

There’s no reason to use NGU on something like 720p to 1080p though so something like jinc or lanczos should suffice unless you really want to I guess.
Anything above a GTX 1060 should run NGU High no problems.

i have a 2070 super so no worries there. i’m just going to assume the 6 profiles are easily swapped via a keybind?

I’m curious to know what do people need all those fancy graphical controls for.

I don’t know about you, but when watching videos, I just fullscreen the shit and just watch. I don’t constantly tinker with muh graphical settings, you scrotes probably don’t even watch videos at all with your trash player.
      >inb4 hurr cope hurr chud hurr <buzzword>
mpv just works. I click on a file and it plays it. It literally just freaking works. You are making up problems just to fill up your pathetic existence.
