No, all the covid nonsense from last year has destroyed the global economy and seized the global supply chain by both directly impeding the labor behind it and rapidly shifting consumer demand. Our leaders bonked up the world for a cold and they convinced you to get mad at everyone else but them.

        >>I remember pol was screeching about food shortages
The reasoning for shortages is correct in that the american federal government CAN order farmers to destroy crops and pay them for it, but the purpose is an increase in price without devastating production.
Already inflation on consumable goods particularly meat are up 8% and this is a big deal.

Kek you bought a sack of rice? The fuck type of Vietnam war POW diet you on there, son?

Think: whole grain carbs, dried. Rice, crackers, oats, pasta. WHOLE GRAIN you wonderbread munching Peter puffing motherfuckers.

Protein. Or you die. Peanut butter, beans, deenz. Canned chili. Canned tuna and chicken. Smoked dried meats.

Spices. You freaking heathens. At the very least, onion and garlic powder, salt and pepper. Chili powder, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cayenne. And dried herbs. You want to die eating bland food? No, I don’t freaking think so.

Dairy. Boxed milk. Hard cheese. So your brittle scrote bones don’t break.

Dried fruit, or you get freaking scurvy, and you die.

        You got that, maggot?

          >Kek you bought a sack of rice? The fuck type of Vietnam war POW diet you on there, son?

after that war, when the POWs were repatriated, some unfortunately died from car accidents or drugs or by their own hand.

when the coroners would open them up, they found that their cardiovascular systems were like those of athletic teenagers; five years on a diet of rice will do that tbh.

Just drop $500 in rice, canned goods, and spices. Non-perishables will go a long way. Just buy colored stickers for visual shelf-life purposes.

            >Just drop $500 in rice, canned goods, and spices.

I don’t think you need to go that far. I just bought a 25 pounds of sugar, 50 pounds of flour, 40 pounds of rice, four large packages of brown sugar (whatever weight they are), and a couple of larger containers of spices. Just as part of my "I will add some more today" plan. Spent 70 dollars on it.

25 pound bag of flour is like 6$ and 20 pound bag of rice is like 13 (I think). Figure a pound a day keeps you well fed in calories.

The only part I’m disagreeing with you on here is the amount of outlay up front. Focus on dry goods and a hundred bucks will get you enough for four months, is easy to put in one cart, and you will easily be able to store it as well as afford it. No big deal. So people are more likely to do it.

ngmi. dry goods go in mylar bags with oxygen absorbers, then into food grade plastic buckets. mason jars are for canning your meat, so you don’t lose it all when the power goes out.

I used to do that, I don’t any more. O2 absorbers, all of that. I have stopped. It just isn’t worth it.

Food is so cheap that it is easier and cheaper to simply buy the food and replace it later. Certainly in the current situation.

See, ten years ago the fear was ‘at some time in the future, I do not know, something may happen for some reason…maybe’. So it made sense to put in all that effort and extra cost.

But that aint the case now. For the vast majority of people, just stop what you are doing and go buy some rice/flour. Wrap it up and put it in a safe tub container. Stuff will last for years, and you aren’t stocking for years. You are stocking for the next six months.

Later, after you have enough food that was easy and cheap to gather you can consider going through the process to make it storable for centuries and spend the cost and time on that. But for now, fuck it. Just buy some 20 pound bags of rice (which if unoppened will last for decades anyhow) and couple of 25 pound bags of flour (which ‘buy by’ date is probably two years off).

I’d not normally suggest flour as it isn’t really good for long term storage. But it is so cheap and so effective for calories and taste that I think everyone should store a good 100-200 pounds of it (50-100$), which is more than enough to make some basic bread every day for a year and thus make your life a whole lot more bearable.

My logic with prepping is worst case you eat your food or donate it if the habbening doesn’t happen. But now with higher than normal inflation buying in bulk ahead of time can save a lot.

I bought 38lb of pork loin and cut it up and froze it in vacuum bags, 2.49 a pound with 30% off on-top. The price of pork loin will likely go up even higher in the future and I can eat this a good year or two later.

The issue is that you can’t properly kill the botulism spores deep in the egg. That’s why you dice up meat before canning and also why you avoid canning dairy.

You keep rolling the dice and you might get away with it indefinitely but I take my health seriously. Make pickled eggs and just keep them in the fridge, no reason to treat them as nonperishable apocalypse Staples.

Kek. I think I’ll just try to get a few chickens soon and actually start the garden that I have all the supplies for in the spring. Fresh just sounds a little more appetizing although the apocalypse canned food aesthetic is where it’s at.

How would botulinum bacteria get deep into the egg without some foreign object putting it there? Dumb fuck, eggs are sterile af inside the shell. That’s why you could preserve them in lime water for years back in the early pioneer days. The Chinese have used lye to preserve eggs as well for centuries, maybe longer.

Hurr hurr I didn’t say that every egg is contaminated. Just that it’s within the realm of possibility and unsafe. Proper canning is literally 100% safe. Eggs, fatty foods and milk are not even though both can and do frequently turn out fine.

                        Yes

Condensed milk comes in a can here

Factory canning is different from home. Plus, the water has been removed and I’m sure the fat content is lower than whole.

I have a whole fat book on pressure canning but just recently learned that if you boil canned food that kills the actual botulism poison

That’s acidic hot water bath canning. I’m talking about pressure canning, and even if you screw it up, put it on the shelf for a year to grow botulism, if you heat the food before you eat it that will denature the botulism poison and you won’t be poisoned

At this point anyone who doesn’t have minimum 3 months supply of food (on top of whatever you ‘currently have’ in your freezer/fridge/cupboards) per person in your household is simply negligent.

Every time I see you on this freaking site pretending like you know a goddamn thing about anything important I speak my piece.
Tell us about how good America is you fat freaking tub of lard.
How the fuck can we trust someone so disgusting? Serious question.
You are so freaking fat & on this stupid freaking website acting like you are important.
Do you really think anyone on here believes you? Believes IN you? You fat freaking child molester.
No one even believes you can go a full day without eating fast food you disgusting cock sucker.
If I ever see you I swear to God on one thing. I will freaking rape you. I’m not even a scrote but I am not joking.
Every time I leave the house I bring a Viagra just in case I ever see you on the streets.
I will knock you out with a tire iron, drag you to my rape shed, pull your pants down to expose your walrus ass,
then wait for the Viagra to kick in before I stab your anus with my throbbing erect diamond hard cock.
If you have any pets you best believe they are getting raped too. You can respond all you want but I want to see it.
Every time I leave a message for you I leave the thread and hide it.
You need to understand that one day I will run into you and on that day I will rape you.
The only question is, do I let you live? Answer all you want but I want to see it.
I’ll let your whimpering or your moans of delight give me the answer I’m looking for. When I rape you.

Yesterday I was out sailing near the ship channel of the largest port in the United States by tonnage.
During those 4 hours, there were a steady stream of container ships passing by in both directions, probably one every 10-15 minutes or so.
Some were completely full, some only partially.
If there is a shipping crisis or excess ships in demurage, I saw no evidence of it.

There is no shortage of workers at ports. The shortage is with Truckers and other container movers. There isn’t enough room at the docks to unload the containers because their storage facilities are backed up. The whole supply line from the ports to the grocery store is tucked beyond measure. If there is a bottleneck in ANY part of the chain it wreaks havoc across the entire industry. Ports can’t unload vessels because they can’t get product out of the docks because there is a shortage of truckers, etc… it will take a long time to sort this out..

          Unironically all this vaccine bullshit.

The world government is trying to ram it down people’s throats with mandates and passports, and noncompliance is much higher than they’re willing to admit. Enough people are refusing to concede that the work is starting to pile up in basically every industry. It’s just most obvious in trucking right now because the consequences can no longer be denied.

      Most food is produced domestically.
The USA imports food from Mexico and South America.
Very very little food comes from Asia.
If there were real problems at the docks, then the USA would have a surplus of food.
It would be the chinks starving due to a lack of food.

Water takes up more room and it’s heavier. 80 ounces of peanut butter is nearly a weeks worth of food, but 80 ounces of water isn’t shit. Your problem won’t be food. The US has a ton of natural gas which can be turned into fertilizer and the biggest agricultural sector the world over. We are the worlds breadbasket.

Your problem is going to be cheap chinese shit, textiles, electronics, and certain kinds of medicines, PPE, and other misc items. Biden admin has done a ton of regulatory shit to fuck us up but that won’t hold forever and pricepoints are getting in the territory companies will start running and give them the middle finger.

It’ll be as bad as they can make it without the shit actually collapsing. This is all being done intentionally and will be controlled. There will be a death toll from starvation in the poorest of the poor areas but the panic and murders from scrotebrained NPCs arguing over spaghettios will be much higher.
