      >I will never update to Windows 11, 10 is fine

I guess history repeats itself, huh

The main reason everyone uses Windows is gaming or work. Games now work well with Linux through Proton, and you can use office on the web. The days of Windows are numbered.

It’s all been downhill since XP, but 11 is where I get off. I should have left sooner but the only reason I stayed was due to games and is right, Proton is getting good enough that there’s no longer a reason to stay. I’ll stick with Windows 10 and Funtoo dual-boot until Win10 support is dropped, then it’s solely Funtoo. I’m not even meming, since my job for years has been at a 100%-Gentoo shop. It will be a minor adjustment to adapt to this at home.

For less tech-savvy people, I will generally recommend Linux Mint or Kubuntu over Win11. Only real difficulty is that it can be non-intuitive or impossible to get the cheap hardware boomers buy at Wal-Mart (think $39 AIO printer/copier/scanners) working properly. Like, they’ll hit the "scan" button on the front of the printer that communicates with a Windows service with no Linux equivalent, then get confused when it isn’t working. Weird compatibility shit like that is one of the biggest problems preventing widespread Linux adoption.

          >Vegas Pro
I’m sure there’s a way to use wine for Vegas Pro.
          >GeForce experience
There’s a web version if you really want to use it. I’d advice against it generally though.

Generally i’d preffer OBS for recording, but i make heavy use of Instant Replay, didn’t know Vegas could run in Wine

How the fuck do you deal with the unpatched security risks in XP or 7 anyways? Any "dummies first unsupported OS" sources I could get into?

            NOOOOOOOOOOOO, NOT MY PEPERINOOOOOOOOOOS.

Jokes aside, how would one protect against script kiddies that do an asspull with an undocumented 0-day / CVE and fuck up your machine because pajeet accidentally left open a backdoor the size of the continental US? On supported OSes, these get patched within hours, but what do on something like WinXP?

Still on Win7 (dualbooting with Gentoo). Never hated it, updated to it right after it was released. Everything after that? No, thank you.
Windows 7 KernelEx can’t come out soon enough.

No one refused win7. everyone loved it. ME and Vista and 8 and 10 were all rightfully hated. If i could get away with using 7 still i would.

I don’t have a problem with windows 11, as long as I can customize it to look and function like Windows 10/it has genuine improvements over 10.. From the reviews, my biggest gripe would be that stupid centered start menu, because I use a mouse to click the start button, so why the fuck should I move it all the way to the bottom left orner only to then move it back to the center of the screen to select what I need? I suppose its meant for touchscreen devices or something. But then again, pretty sure it had the option to be set in the corner.
