Sadly, most people who teach this concept are really just looking to replace the individual initiate’s ego with their own or that of their group’s.

Good luck on your journey tho — even if it’s looking rather bleak atm given your choice of thread topics.

scrotebrain, narcissicists have an incredibly underdeveloped ego. They fill their lack of developed thought with empty approval from other people. Ego death is not a good thing. You have been conditioned to be poisoned against what constituent part of you that probably closest approximates a "soul"

Looking to remove your own consciousness is a lot more akin to narcissism than having an ego is.

          >I feel sorry for this lost soul
The appeal to a false sense of concern and implied social shame is also a standard narcissistic tactic – using the ill defined collective to give weight to your attacks, insults, and arguments.

It’s played out to suggest so, and I find it grating myself, but this does appear to me to be a classic case of projection

Transcending, rather than destroying, one’s ego however … though still fraught with distractions and detours, traps and snares … can be a worthy undertaking.

Perhaps spend some time reflecting on the difference before doing anything you might later regret?

I can’t be destroyed because you live in a world where you have to deal with other ego’s.But you can strenghten it by making it anti-fragile

You can remove it via some brain-hemisphere deactivation.
You can become very much a part of the world around you.

I may literally be a narcissist. I have the ego of a child. It must be destroyed if I am to carry on in this world.

The only thing you really need to grow is to realize that other people are literally more important than anything else could ever possibly be.
If you truly get with this,
You’ll realize that the most selfish thing that you can do for yourself is to put the well being of others, and your compassion for them, in front of almost anything else you can possibly imagine.

Sure, perhaps it’s not practical to give away all your money to someone who continues to ask for it, or maybe you shouldn’t allow an abusive fiance to continue to manipulate you,

but even under most normal circumstances absolutely nothing else is as important as having others. When you really get with this, you’ll stop caring if the waitress gets your food wrong, you’ll never care if the taxi is late, it won’t bother you when your friend snaps at you, it won’t be a problem when your drunken sister calls you at 2 am for a ride home.

Everything in this world is created so that you may have a setting for your opportunity to be with others. When you truly understand that, everything else is secondary and you will not have a problem with ego anymore.

Is there a reason you don’t want its protection against the World. The Ego is only dangerous when it grows into a dinosaur that will stomp on your proverbial house. Your Ego is the "I", and it’s hard to live in this society without one. Choose a meditation that doesn’t destroy it, but tames it.
If you put your attention to any part of your body, it will slightly tingle. If you put your attention on your whole body it’ll also tingle. This is your neural Body Sense. IOW, This is your body vs, this is not your body!
This is useful in keeping yourself centered while doing a form of meditation with no Mantra. In this case you concentrate on your hand and just observe all the crap that comes from your mind without judging whether it’s ‘good’ or ‘bad’ crap. When you lose concentration, you just gently bring your attention back to your hand and begin again. This doesn’t break your Ego, you need it to deal with ‘out there’. Your mind-chatter will slowly decrease over time without having only just one thought left – the Mantra. The worst part is the music. You may not remember what you had for dinner a week ago, but you’ll remember songs and their lyrics seemingly forever. You can "see behind your eyelids" It’s not a blank darkness – there are "lights there". You can try concentrating on that and it may help is letting the music, or any strong thoughts, retreat back from where it came from.

The ego is your best defense against insanity. You dont want to completely rid yourself from it, but you do want to limit its influence.

      No denial *can* work.

      no ignoring *can* work.

"Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain: the 4th Definitive Edition"
accidentally gives vast leverage in doing-so.

Daily draing-practice, in RightBrain mode is *far* quicker than almost-all other practices.

After an ego death, you get a shot at recreating the ego but it will never vanish as long as you’re not in a state of ego death/complete dissolution which means either deep meditation, deep sleep or physical death.
Whenever you work or interact with the world, you have to use your ego as a front. It’s like an avatar you create so others may identify that which is speaking to them.

Please take this post with ones own sense of discernment for it’s unique truth or disregard it. All answers are acceptable.

This has been a interesting Experience. Allow this expression of the universe to return to the social memory complex and upload this information gathered for the Keks.

In all honesty. Your ego is part of the third density experience. Stop worrying about transcendence when your not experiencing what’s in front of you. Your soul doesn’t care if you do your task or not. If you fail to do it this time it will reincarnate you into what your suppose to do later. All experience is valuable. when you realize your experience here is but a temporary thing and the world itself is simply a playground of the soul. The truth is you realize your own fears are the only thing holding you down.

The ego is not something to be destroyed, but something to be seen through, to realise it’s insubstantial nature. You cannot destroy something which never existed to begin with.
