do you have any proof correlating internet use with a genetic disorder? is it internet use or social media or both? did you know the only symptom reported from daily social media abuse is depression?

Because it’s 2K+21 stoopid, you need to use a device that can browse internet functionally to actually do stuff (your job, government work etc.) and using a cumpooter is better than using a phone while doing important shit.

GuestADHD is similar to drug dependence. Constant stimulation is the addiction. Removing technology will just force you to shift your dependence to something else. Printed porn magazines, junk food, doing drugs…
Other than alleviating symptoms with medication, ADHD is hard to treat. The usual solution is to replace it with a "healthy" addiction, like running, or going to the gym, or drawing, or doing programming, but it’s very hard to get into a habit that is not 100% stimulating all the time, especially if your old habits are just one click away — it does not take long to fall into a Wikipedia rabbit hole or to load Pornhub and unzip your pants.
One small distraction can ruin an hour-long streak for someone who has ADHD. Someone sends you a "funny" video that’s only 30 seconds long, you think "meh, it’s just 30 secs". Well, you think it’s only half a minute, but it will take you 15-30 minutes, if not more, to "get back in the zone". And that’s if you don’t click on another "See also" video that’s also only 30 seconds, and you don’t notice that your favorite youtube person has a new video up…

GuestAdhd cant be solved using technology
You can solve technology using adhd +(a sprinkle of autism)Anon, get the fuck out of the board, and start making shit now.
When you wake up, dont try to slowly get out of bed, JUMP OUT OF THE BED.This is how i cope as an ADHDscrote.
The second you boot up a game or open an unnecessary webpage you have failed, when you wake up, your brain is fresh, keep it that way.
You have to hold onto that non-scrotebrain mode as long as possible, completely, that also means that the only system where you can possibly waste time on is your computer. Cripple your phone as much as possible. You have strength anon, you can do it, you just need discipline.

GuestYou’re a grade a scrotebrain if you think adhd people need discipline. They need a working prefrontal cortex. No amount of discipline in the history of humanity has fixed adhd. If discipline fixes your issues you don’t have adhd.

GuestA stopwatch or egg timer are good to keep you focused and from spending too long on something. Music players, fidget spinners etc. to stimulate you also help focus. Blocking distracting websites like LULZ with a browser extension, or firewall, or custom DNS, or simply your hosts file, can also help.
Also meds, or if you can’t get them unironically alcohol, though that’ll fuck with your health and overall mood and you can get addicted. -

GuestIt’s at least worth evaluating in addition to every other suggestion if you’re serious about trying to mitigate or overcome this attention/focus problem.
The same applies here as well. Maybe it works well for you, maybe it doesn’t. Maybe you can use it as a temporary crutch or a long term one.
But it’s not sensible to dismiss it outright without evaluating it imo. No reason to throw options out. That would just seem like making excuses to not improve yourself in the ways you wanted to.(obviously directed at OP / anyone in this situation, not you specifically)

GuestSo you have a smartphone.
By sleeping properly with an alarm to remind you when your proper bed time is. and waking up early with alarms.
By playing music while you go to the gym. Even just cardio on bikes if you’re nervous about lifting.
By borrowing books on how to treat ADHD from your local library or buying them from Amazon.
By noting down a "to do list" in a note taking app.
By ordering healthy, nutritious foods from a grocery delivery app so you have less impulse junk food buys and can get food good for your brain activity.
By playing sounds like cafe noise, or even just a clock ticking with a 30 minute timer when you have to study or do any kind of work that requires attention. -

>Online calendars

>E-readersThe two are notable in that they don’t allow you to consoom a shitton, and the first is used simply because there’s simply no better alternative.

GuestI have ADHD confirmed; coffee only makes me tired to point of nearly passing out after two cups. Here’s my advice
>Write a list of errands you want to get done at some point
Do not include things like daily chores because you will just forget to look at the list lol. Write one-off things you need to do
>Try drinking coffee
Might help you relax, but for me 1 cup does nothing and 2 I’m nearly passing out. For some coffee just functions normally and gives you energy
>Try meditation for 6
Did not work for me either, but it’s worth a try. Worth seeing what effect it has on you
>Keep your shit as organised as possible
>Make notes and reminders of everything possible
Understand that your brain is not to be trusted and is defective. You need all the help you can get, and we live in an era with computers in our pockets, so use them. Remember that it is not the world that is corrupted, it is YOUR BRAIN (or at least, assume or pretend it is)
>Accept your place in the universe
You will never have a wife and kids. You will never be accepted by normalscrotes. You will always be viewed as an evil person because of your nature. You will never be able to truly fit in, but you can do your best to fool everybody. You are your own person, so live happily the best you can (even if that may not be truly possible with ADHD)
>Get meds
Avoid Adderall if possible as it has a lot of horror stories of making people "feel like a zombie" in the long-term. Normalscrotes will tell you that stimulants are bad but they’ll probably be the only thing that makes you relax. Medication will take a long time to find the right one and dosage, and will cost a lot of time and money even in healthcare countries.Good luck bro

I don’t know if this is how ((normal)) people feel but it’s extremely bizarre, being able to study and stay focused for long periods of time is really really incredible and boosted my mood by leaps and bounds. I feel like I’m productive and actually trying my best to do stuff.-

Am really thinking of doing this myself too. Time is flying by out of my control and barely achieve anything in my spare time. I have no hobbies or interests left anymore and I just pace around the house. It’s like constant white noise is everywhere and I’m losing it.I have genuine passions I want to pursue but everything slips through my fingers.
>Can’t mess around with hardware because I have no money and live out in the middle of nowhere around crackheads
>Can’t pursue literature because I struggle to read more than 10 pages at a time. It takes me a month to read a 300 page book.
>Can’t learn Japanese because my Anki sessions take forever due to pacing and zoning out, and I just can’t keep up
Along with numerous other things I’ve picked up and dropped. I just want to pursue the things I am passionate about but I am trainwreck and only getting worse -

GuestI have ADHD, diagnosed.
Your brain and mine are supposedly more (((primitive))) than everyone else’s and they can’t stand the modern sedentary life. You can either be an unstoppable force or an inmovable object.
I honestly advice you to:
Take your medicine (mine is lisdexamfetamine). AVOID ADDERALL AT ALL COSTS BECAUSE IT WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE.
Drink coffee or some energy drink to see if it helps, and quit them if they don’t.
Turn your work or tasks into things you like to do.
Set reminders for everything you might forget.
Go to the gym or at least do some physical exercise (preferably the very first thing in the morning, before breakfast). Your head is a whore that constantly demands stimulation, so if you overdose it early in the morning you will be calmer and more focused for the rest of the day.
Meditation helps too.
Ignore sons of bitches like the anon who told you you’ll never marry or have children, They are trannies with mutilated penis throwing vomit.
Also remember that ADHD is the true sigma grindset.

Not my case, I’ve been having serious trouble with school related stuff since i was very little. Never had bad grades (they were actually outstanding), I just didn’t give two shits about my classes.
When I was 14 yo I was sent to a public psychologist and he gave me my first diagnosis of ADHD, after going to the public I went to 2 private psychologists who diagnosed the same thing.
I don’t know how healthcare is in you country but in mine it’s a pretty serious shit.

That sounds more like a diagnosis of "depression" or "anxiety". I live in Australia, and likeNot my case, I’ve been having serious trouble with school related stuff since i was very little. Never had bad grades (they were actually outstanding), I just didn’t give two shits about my classes.

it is taken seriously here too. I had to spend about half a year with a psychologist then I got a referral to a psychiatrist. Then admittedly I did have to fill out numerous (very) long questionnaires, and after that I had to get an opinion from a second psychiatrist who gave me more questionnaires before I could start stimulants. Bearing in mind I might have been able to get it sooner if I had anybody in my life who could back up seeing my symptoms (I have no friends or family).
Would there be any progam that would identify it through mouse movement? I haven’t had official tests so I’m afraid to take ze meds. I have an appointment next week and last time I turned em down.
I honetly don’t know if my scatterbrain is normal or not. Time flies past fast and I used to lose stuff/day dream a lot as a kid. Still do, I lost my ID while abroad and I literally have no idea how.
The last day before boarding the plane I lost my electric razor. It was there in the evening and I couldn’t find it after I landed. I think I packed everything, in same place and I still lost it. I think I used it and forgot it in front of the mirror and forgot to pick it up and just didn’t see it while I took the shower
Coffee making you tired or relaxed rather than energised (or however its supposed to make you feel) would be a strong indicator of it. There’s plenty of people with ADHD whom seem to consume coffee fine, though. Admittedly, alot of the common symptoms you’ll find otherwise can be viewed subjectively, and that’s why so many people are sceptical of ADHD’s existence.

GuestYeah, I do not blame people for being sceptical of ADHD. Social media has completely consumed people’s lives, and everybody is addicted to chasing the latest trends and having the latest products. I do not know what sorta attitude other people with ADHD have in regards to this, but at the very least looking on the ADHD subplebbit you’ll find lots of stuck-up brats crying about how society doesn’t cater to them. I’m hoping they are just the same breed of "people" as the LGBT "community" and that’s why they act like that, but even so I’m sure they add to the poor view people have of the condition.
I have ADHD and I am not addicted to any substances, junk food, drugs (never tried any except my meds, though), porn, video games, and no social media outside this site. I’m literally too lazy to stay addicted to any of these things. It is a pain to spend money on junk food, substances, drugs so I can not do it. It is a pain to watch porn and deal with the semen coming out of my dick, so I stopped. It is a pain to procastinate over what video game to play and then try and dedicate myself to finish it, so I do not play video games anymore. It is a pain to maintain a social media profile and pretend to be a normalscrote so I do not do it. It is a pain to sift through TikTok’s bullshit when I can just use this site for instant stimulation.
At this point I am addicted only to music, LULZ, my own imagination/thoughts, and not going to sleep (because sleep does not stimulate me). I have lost all hobbies and interests because they do not provide enough stimulation. I struggle to maintain any sort of acquaintances or friendships because of lack of stimulation. I have nothing left until I can get a bigger dosage of meds.

I’m not the guy taking a double dose lmao. I have already gone through this exact depression diagnosis stuff. Originally I pursued a depression diagnosis and they just gave me a simple quiz then said I had it. Finally I have gotten to a psychiatrist and after he talked to me more about "depression" I know do not have it. How can I be depressed when I am so desperately trying to pursue my passions? All I want to do is read my Greek literature and the Epic of Gilgamesh. All I want is peace, bros…

Guest"Hard time doing dishes" is not having a couple of plates here and there and just being lazy. ADHD means it feels like climbing a mountain, because the dish rack is full, so you have to empty it, but your cupboard is full of assorted plastic tubs and lids, and you can’t start washing dishes anyhow because the counter top is full of crap that’s not dishes and the sink is so full of dishes that you cannot even fill it with soapy water. Never mind the fricking table saw that’s been on your kitchen floor for weeks just because you couldn’t think of anywhere else to put it and "got carried away".
I’m not thinking "oops I lost a pencil one time tee hee" levels, but a crippling lack of productiveness that seems to stem from a mountain of causes, without being able to find the "right" way of approaching it.
>take slow-release speed
Sometimes you have to. Yes, doctors have a reputation for prescribing problem-solving medication fast, but ADHD is not diagnosed from simply saying "I lack concentration" to your doctor. Furthermore, it’s only one element to help you fight your problems. It is supposed to be prescribed as part of a comprehensive solution that includes counselling on how to "structure" your life around external demands.-

GuestTechnology is not a cause, it’s just a scapegoat. Escapism. If you quit technology, you will crave a replacement, and it’s in your interest to find a stimulating replacement that is healthy for you, instead of turning to something that is unhealthy. ADHD means that you constantly require stimulation to go through life, or you become a self-loathing amorphous pile of yourself.

GuestThe stimulants do not affect people with ADHD and neurotypicals the same, though. For me, they help me relax and that’s how I’m able to focus. I’m not fighting with my brain anymore and it is like I’m able to do things as part of a natural flow. They do not turn me into some hyper-focused, drooling monkey. I can even fall asleep better when on Ritalin

Guestgreat but the minority isn’t my point here. in the US there’s a huge conflation between this developmental disorder and just bad lifestyle hygiene. rather than attempting to fix the latter, the default is the former and there’s a lot of people that go around advocating "ADHD" awareness that bothers me
when you fall asleep better on ritalin is this IR taken in the morning? ritalin really short acting iirc and it would make sense

GuestYeah, it’s short-acting. I agree with you about the lifestyle problem, it’s a shame it is such a shitshow with how things have gotten.

GuestI have a gulag smartwatch where I press a button and can dictate a reminder/ todo list bullet point. Setting it up took a while because google’s own apps for this had bugs and were unusable. I settled on Todoist because the other todo app had some sort of ties to Israel, can’t remember.
Google’s speech recognition is, as you can imagine, completely perfect even when whispering or speaking under your breath with the watch close to your mouth, so it’s pretty convenient. Sasuga big sis.
