i started interviewing around 2018 and CTCI textbook questions were wayyyy easier than interview questions-
The point isnt the questions, its the talking with the interviewer and how you go about solving the questions.
I see a lot of college (asians) who go on leetcode and practice 5 hours a day, memorizing the exact solution to every possible problem. When asked the question by the interviewer, they run up to the whiteboard and write out the solution. There is no "figuring it out", no "back and fourth" with the interviewer, which shows the problem solving process and ability to work with others. Then, after being denied at that stage, they think it was because they got a problem wrong and spend more time on leetcode instead of just talking to the interviewer.

About these coding questions rather than learning how to complete each individual one. Coding questions really only come in a handful of flavors but can seem vastly different by tweeking a few parameters.
For example, "remove all duplicate characters in a string" and "remove all duplicate words in a paragraph" are the exact same question algorithmically. If you only took the time to memorize one without actually understanding what’s going on, you’ll likely fail a real interview.

Python alone is decent. It really depends on what you’re trying to do. Since python is mainly used in the back end, you’ll likely need some other Languages as well if you want to do backend development. I.e. c++, scala

Border Gateway Protocol. Basically the main way routers tell each other what they can reach. You ‘advertise’ networks to other routers, which tells them that you can accept traffic for those networks. Basically something got bonked up in Facebooks core routing and it stopped advertising their networks to the rest of the world, so routers couldn’t figure out where traffic to Facebook as supposed to be sent.

What’s the ratio within Facebook of people with CS or other degrees vs the people without degrees? Also, since it’s in Silicon Valley, I sort of expect the local software developer market to be dominated by people who studied either in local Silicon Valley universities or in otherwise top-notch ones like Ivy League or even MIT. Is that the case? How well-represented in Facebook are people from less well-known colleges or even without a higher education background?

The key thing is getting the interview in the first place. If you resume can demonstrate that you have the technical skills necessary, then you should have no problem getting in. Having a degree from a better school makes you stand out but it’s by no means a factor that would eliminate you. If you don’t have a degree at all then you need to work on a project that helps you stand out, maybe something on GitHub with thousands of lines of code that has been forked several times.

As an E3, your only requirement is really to just complete tasks efficiently. You don’t really need to be concerned with outlining projects or meeting with product manager until E4/E5. Learn as much as you can about whatever platform you’ll be working on so you can demonstrate to your manager that you’ve mastered all the basic by the following year. If so, you should have no problem getting to E4
