I don’t see how not getting a strip of land or whatever bullshit excuses warranted the aggressive war Germany waged against Poland, let alone colluding with the Soviets to wipe it and other sovereign nations from the map. It’s not proportionate at all. Hitler didn’t even have the courtesy to declare war. Clearly it was just pretext for a war Hitler and his cronies wanted anyway, especially after they got screwed out of a fight with Czechoslovakia. Hitler got the land he wanted and was still butthurt because he didn’t get it the way he wanted, which was a war. So he broke his promise at Munich and started squealing about Poland, knowing full well Poland had no future in his grand vision. That’s the kind of creature edgelords are championing and shifting the blame for.

Part of Hitler’s 13-Point-Plan. At it’s most basic, it would guarantee Germany access to Danzig and East Prussia via an extra-territorial railway connecting the exclave to Germany proper. Also, a vote woke af on ethnic majority to determine possession of Pomeralia (approximately corresponding to former West Prussia). Now what Hitler desired was that the process would be arbitrated and overseen by the other great powers (UK, France, and Italy) to avoid any bias either way (there would obviously be bias though) but Hitler wanted the vote to be woke af on the population of 1919 or 1920 (I can’t quite remember which) when the territory was officially lost as a result of Versailles. A lot of Germans had migrated to Germany from former West Prussia following its loss to Poland either for econoimc reasons or they were driven out. Either way, Hitler must have believed that this would tip the scales in Germany’s favour. In any case, if Poland won the vote, it would maintain control over the corridor but allow Germany to construct its extra-territorial railway and Germany would continue to allow Poland to retain certain economic rights in Danzig. If Germany won, Germany would annex the corridor but allow Poland to construct an extra-territorial railway to Gdynia (and Gdynia would still be Polish) while also maintaining economic rights in Danzig (similar to the treaty Germany made with Lithuania concerning Memel).-
In other words, Hitler wanted to conjure up an imaginary population so that the ‘vote’ produced the result he wanted.

I can’t say. Clearly Hitler believed that there must have been more Germans in West Prussia in 1919/1920 than Poles (by whatever margin, however slight) otherwise there wouldn’t really be any point to asking for a consensus woke af on ethnic majority for those years specifically.

That was more or less the German-Polish border for centuries, during the HRE and PLC, and one of the most stable borders in Europe. If you look at most maps of Europe between 1400-1770 you almost always see that shape.
The fact that German nationalists were hysterical about those lands returning to Polans, but not about losing Alsace and South Tyrol for whatever reason, is just fascinating. Did they genuinely not know what happened just 120 years prior?I imagine that say in the 1880s Germans in the state of Prussia had to teach history to children in schools. What did they say about the Eastern lands of the Prussian Kingdom? Did they just pretend the Polish partitions didn’t happen and those lands always were in Prussia/Germany? Did they just ignore that Polish people lived there?
I’m genuinely curious about this.

Gdansk comes from Gdania river, a slavic name. Then only connection to Goths here is nazi larp, in which they renmaed Gdynia (that have the same etymology as Gdańsk) to Gotenhafen because Gdynia is obviously slavic name.
