clashing personal styles

I like ivy/dark academia clothing styles a lot and want to try dressing in that style. I want to be more "dressed up" at times, but due to peer pressure and living in a very casual area I don’t want to go all in on it. My current style is like picrel – zip up hoodies, oversized t shirts, jeans or chinos, and converse. Is it okay to wear outfits in both styles and not have one unified "personal style"? Is there any way to make it more cohesive or should I just not care?

try gradually shifting into more ivy stuff that still works with your current clothes. corduroy pants, knit sweaters, chukkas, untucked collared shirts if youre not ready to tuck, etc. you dont have to jump right into a tumblr inspo pic of a guy dressed in tailored tweed

      OP here

No idea, I tried Google lens, no luck 🙁 I think it’s just some cheap fairy design shirt from Amazon but I couldn’t find an exact match.

You sound like a tradfag. The problem with what you’re saying is that for most people in the west there is no longer such a thing as "community" with "customs" and "traditions". We live in a rootless society where customs are transmitted top-down on the national scale instead of bottom-up from the community scale. And the current "social norm" for men is to dress like a manchild. OP is literally trying to dress more traditionally and you’re calling that the manchild way.

      >no reason
There’s a reason, you are just not mature enough to understand it.

Juvenile thinking. Actual adults understand the importance of etiquette and social norms, being part of a community with customs and traditions instead of the manchild JUST DO WHATEVER LELELEL tier thinking. This is why western society is disintegrating, because of stupids like you

I’m confused about the argument here. Do you guys think it’s preferable to keep my very casual style since it fits into my environment and friend group more? I was (and still am) averse to seeming "overdressed" but I feel like it would work if I didn’t seem forced or unconfident. But at the same time I want to be able to keep trad fits in rotation with my old more casual stuff and not become a living meme character like Reviewbrah.

if you’re afraid of being "overdressed" just think this to yourself: "i am not overdressed, everyone else is underdressed". helped me when i began to dress better.

This is the type of clothing i’d expect a cute gay to wear, except he tells me he hates lgbt and would kill gay people if he sees them kissing in public. I find this ironic. Hopefully you are not one of those. I haven’t read the post; sorry for that.

The first piece of advice I will give you is to stop caring so much about what others think of you. I live in a smaller valley filled with surfers and boomers who wear shorts and flip flops 90% of the time, and I wear outfits inspired by Neofolk, Fashcore and Dark Academia. I don’t get negative attention aside from an old man glaring at me and some weird Protestant guy.

Imo, pic related looks very lazy and uninteresting. I would suggest you swap that look out entirely for something Ivy/Dark Academia like you want and just ignore what others may think of you. I did this when changing my style and it felt so liberating and great to do a relatively drastic change. It also sends a message that you are doing what you want to and not trying to dilute the aesthetic or appease others.
Other advice you may not want to hear is that your stance and body language is very feminine and makes you look like a homosexual, so I would advise you work on that a bit and maybe work out. Looking and feeling stronger and more masculine will also help you carry yourself more confidently.

There’s nothing wrong with standing out, remember that.

you won’t believe it, but it’s a part of their style, copying style means copying form in whole, even behavior
