It's putting emphasis on not letting anything get inbetween you and your relationship and devotion to God. If something does, be ready to give it up immediately.
The real renunciation is in your heart. When Jesus asks the prince to sell off all of his possessions in order to join him, the challenge is not in the act of relinquishing the possession, but in relinquishing the attachment to his possesions which is the real hindrance.
So you may have a nice car, but it's not really yours. It can crash and total, or be seized, or become too expensive to maintain.
Your body isn't yours either, as it is borrowed for a limited time and is subject to disease and decay. If you know and maintain the awareness that nothing here is ever truly yours, then neither gain nor loss will affect you, so there is nothing to renounce.
But if losing something causes you great distress, having something causes you great distress due to the fear of losing it, then it may be best to lose it and live without that. Just use what you need, God will provide.
I also think merely owning something imbues your energy to it and vise versa; such that giving it away stops that connection and allows one to be with God.
I'm literally going to have to give up everything holding me to this earth. All physical possessions that are unnecessary and go be with Jesus. I can't take anything with me from my past, I must begin anew
Everything
You're wasting your time. No one who had a mission from God asked a group of random people to help them make sense of it, because God had already instructed them exactly what they needed to do. What I'm getting here is that you're trying to larp and convince people of being something you're not.
Ok, well, I suppose you could literally give up everything. There have been saints who did just that. Might be tough, but if you feel called, go for it.
The only sect you will find that actually does this (from all my searching and experience) is the Twelve Tribes, which, as far as cults go, are pretty tame. I was part of that group for over 8 years but the hypocrisy in the leadership got to me and I left the group. However, the normal average people in that cult are really great. They gave up everything (literally) to join that group, and they all work together in the most functional socialistic system I can imagine (in spite of the fuckery in the leadership). I can't recommend to join because they have a history of shielding pedos from justice.
So, you'd be better off selling everything at a garage sale and hobo'ing your way through the world, IMO.
>most functional socialistic system I can imagine
You know... that's saying something.
>hobo'ing your way through the world, IMO.
I'm thinking about it. It seems to be a common theme round these parts: the noble hobo. Have you tried doing such?
>”All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?” >Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” >When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. >Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” >When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?” >Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” >Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?” >Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.
The good news is that it’s written here and you can follow His words as advice tbh。
The Bible is not a ritual book, meaning that because you do something doesn't mean you'll get something out of it. You can go to a grocery store and tidy up the shelves and sweep the entire place and ask the manager to pay you, but he will just tell you >Sorry, you're not employed here.
This is not teaching us to abandon our families. What it is teaching us, is that we must put our God before our families. The second commandment is to honor our earthly fathers and mothers, and we do not abandon it. Yet the first commandment is to honor our God, and that has preeminence over the rest of our lives.
I’m very materialistic I still desire the pleasures of experiencing this world that I know I will never get to enjoy because I don’t have the wealth to. But I also know that to reach spiritual enlightenment is to free yourself from this material world. I guess I’m conflicted myself too when I know that freeing my soul is a better reward but I’m addicted to this current illusion I tied myself to.
Jesus, the archetypal personification crafted for the Christian to mimic, says: Don't maintain wealth, and definitely let the israelites do all the money lending. Or else you won't get into my secret imaginary space
>forced to give
>I'm just like Jesus!

Well said and God bless.
t. "disciple" explaining how he didn't really mean what he said.

Go ahead, drop your belongings. Drop your name and identity.
Then set out to find the living truth.
agreed. well said
What do you mean, you're going to have to?

I'm still unclear...are you terminally ill anon?
I'm on a mission from God.

And what is that mission?
That's why I saw a tranny with red hair at church. He is going to heaven.

This thread is just data mining. If God wanted you to do something, you'd already know what to do. You wouldn't be here asking.
Man, I just want some motivation. I've got to do it whether I like it or not: I'm God's favorite plaything.
Confirmed larp. You won't get anything out of it. Fuck around and find out.
God's playthings tend to get whipped if they are on their bitch behavior.
>I've got to do it whether I like it or not
Pretty sure that's not a healthy kind of relationship, God or otherwise.
He's full of shit.
>I'm God's favorite plaything
Could you explain what you mean? I'm open-minded, whatever the answer is.
You can't meme your way into Heaven. You can't meme your way into serving God.
If you want to do that, just contact your local Catholic (or Orthodox) monastery and become a monk.

>hahaha let's make the stupid goy give up all his wealth while we retain ours!
That's what they thought while writing that specific part of the Bible.
But... what if that's the israelite's greatest weakness: their possessions and wealth? Greatest plot twist know to man and several monkeys.
If the israelites control you through their wealth then doesn't it make more sense to give up their wealth and find one's own?

FUCK Sarduk. And fuck Marduk. Like it even knows. It's a stupid fucking candle.
Dear anon,
There is nothing to give, since nothing is truly yours.
This is the truth.
Property is but a mental construct, we can never own any material thing truly. Think about it, it’s just a social agreement.
