Lol @ this map
Phoenicia itself was never independent. It was under assyrians, egyptians, babylonians, persians, etc
wrong pic guys my bad
phonecia had a large literature like athens maybe bigger. wiped out by the latin bull who's language became the official language of europe for the next 1900 years
It's in their blood.
lebanese larper map
absolute Chads for cucking the Greeks from going past the Pilars of Hercules
>except for Pytheas the greek
never fully understood what was the deal with that, was the blockage a later thing and was it open previously?
Phoenicians only had coastal cities in north africa
They never controlled the rest
yes they did, cope
no they didn't. OP's map includes Crete and Cyrene. Both of them were Doric Greek outside the ports of trade and, soon enough, the Greeks would own the ports too.
nah theres some source proving my point
Cyrene was always Greek, as for Crete obviously it was Doric Greek even though some Phoenician merchants were stationed in some ports around 800 bc, but they never founded actual colonies there
They didnt tho
Most of the map count allies as territories of carthage
Carthaginians only Held ports of trade like this anon said
even the ports were not held by "phoenicians" I think people tend to confuse phoenician cultural influences with a proper military presence/political control
why are you butthurt about a people group that doesnt exist anymore
Most of Cyprus was Greek aside from Kition, and Kition too switched hands between Phoenicians and Greeks a few times
Phoenicians in Cilicia / South Anatolia? Those were Greek colonies, same for Crete, Cyrene and most of Cyprus, and Corsica was first Greek and then Etruscan
This map is more accurate
this was was a bit of a bitch to fish, mostly cause I don't have a twitter account
yea ur map is more inaccurate
