Wintards are no real developers, so who cares?
The fact alone that you're not even ashamed to publically admit that you're Winshit users blows my mind.

        >Buying 2000+ Euro macOS laptop for street cred
        >Or re-installing a working Windiws OS on my machine for a less functional Linux one, thus paying in free time
        >Only to run a JetBrains IDE, a piece of software readily available on Windows

Why would I as a developer do this? WSL2 basically solved Windows for me.

          >WSL2 basically solved Windows for me.
then why are you complaining about no native windows support

          Winblows UX sucks donkey balls.
          Winblows is slow and sluggish.
Winblows sends every keystroke to their datacenters.
WSL is a shit workaround and has way worse UX than using an OS that has those functionality natively.

True. Still not spending 2000 Euros for a laptop with specs that cost 600 Euros at most.

Would you really fucking develop on Windows? It's fucking horrible.

JetBrains and DBeaver work okay on Windows. Docker runs through WSL2. Qt Designer, on rare few occasions I need it, work just as well as on a Mac. What else should matter to me as a dev?

You don't have to? Linux runs on everything.

Linux gave me a worse experience than Windows in every way. Everything requires configuration, and documentation of arising issues is often lackluster. You pay in your free time, time that you could have spent, you know, actually developing software. I am a developer, I don't want to pick another hobby on a side.

Windows sucks. But at least it mostly works out of the box. That's all I need as a dev.

A fair comparison would be Windows VS macOS for devs, Linux just doesn't cut it for non-hobbyist use.

Umm no? I do no configuration at all.
                >You pay in your free time
No you don't. The amount of time I lost starring at that fucking loading spinner in Winblows is crazy, Linux is just fast and snappy and everything works.

I believe it. It's probably the AV system. AV products are expensive trash.
Also, Windows tends to be a bit slower than Linux on the same hardware even with AV disabled. Not sure why. Probably something to do with how buffers and processes are managed.

idk how WSL works beyond you can use linux commands in command line, but that seems like a fucking waste of time when you can just boot it. windows doesn't exactly get you much. this seems like a cope for employees of companies who won't let them use loonix but will let them use a microsoft approved alternative. you probably think dev home is an alternative to an actually reproducible environment

When can you run MacOS on a VM on Windows? What would be the fucking point?

WSL2 is just a mangled VM preinstalled with a Linux distro and a bunch of random proprietary Microsoft shit to make it work """""seamlessly""""". It works for shit like testing containers, but beyond that it's more or less a toy.

Including both desktop and mobile, of course.
