Brave Browser

Holy crap LULZ, I know I'm a couple years late to this thing but this is a slick browser. I changed because of the 2023 Chrome UI refresh and Firefox is still stuttery by design on Windows, so this was the next thing I thought of. Once you turn on wide address bar and toggle some things off (which unfortunately you have to do in every browser in 2023) it's clean as fuck. It has some kind of imitation uBlock built in, which is fine, probably more useful for setting and forgetting on others' computers than power user use. And it seems to come with its own web browser too, but it's about as bad as DDG from what I can see. Does LULZ still like this or is it a dead meme?

Look up Brave bitcoin miner controversy, it’s up to you if you still want to use it.

Are you the same retard who keeps spamming bitcoin miner on yt-dlp threads? I'm more than familiar with all the meltdowns the browser has caused, I used to be one of the main spammers of the brave bad articles until I learned they were written by trannies and Tom Scott literally lied.

The only real brave controversy was that for a few weeks around 2-3 years ago, if you visited a crypto website it would turn the URL into their referral link, which doesn't even affect you or even gives you a reward, which they removed as soon as people said they don't like it

I like Firefox fine on Linux, but like I said, it's still stuttery by design on Windows https://www.vsynctester.com/firefoxisbroken.html

        >To replicate these bugs, you must run Firefox 50.0.2 (2016/11/30) or Firefox Nightly - on Windows.
Yeah let me just roll back to this version for literally no reason. It works flawlessly for me, have you tried upgrading from your Pentium D?

I tested it on my machine and it still drops several frames per minute. I'm more sensitive to it than the average person. The bug report is still open and not fixed.

Brave isn't bad, but it's fucky on some sites like Roll20. I'm using Vivaldi and I love it.

Have you by chance checked if turning off fingerprint protection on that site fixed it? I assume randomizing the canvas hash breaks actual canvas functionality.

I use it because it performs the best on my toaster of a PC. Firefox and Edge run like shit, Chrome is stable but it’s Chrome, and Brave did the best for me on speed tests. Some people hate it because of old controversies, shills, or because of Brendan Eich but I just want something that works and isn’t slow

I just wish there was a way to replace the orange accents with grey or black ones. Distracting and throwing off the color balance.

Thanks for supporting Google monopoly by using Google Chromium based crypto spyware with user tracking and optionally giving search history to brave devs. It is possible that you even use their vpn to forward your whole internet traffic to them so in that case, thanks!

Yes Chromium is made by and owned by Google. Most importantly 100% controlled by Google.

I used to use Brave search for a bit, since unlike DDG it doesn't have the track record of selling user data to Microsoft *yet*. However for a while now I've been using random instances from https://searx.space/, it's good stuff, basically proxy for your browser searches for privacy protection which is able to use all of large search engines at once. If you use biggest ones they can get rate limited once in a while by one of the search engines but I haven't had that happen in like two months on the one I'm using
