Okay, this seems like an appropriate place to talk about my mixed feelings over the Lightyear controversy.
I appreciate Disney going to bat for the lesbian kiss scene, refusing to let it be cut and getting the movie banned in 50 countries over this one scene.
Even if it was them trying to make up for dropping the ball in a more serious way in not trying to quash the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.
Disney has been trying to have it both ways on LGBT representation for years. I’m glad they reached a point where they were forced to pick a side, and took our side.
But at the same time, I really hate that the rest of this wonderful movie has been dragged down by this controversy and defined by it.
My mom and I were the only ones in the theater when we went to see the movie, so I had been suspecting that the news about the lesbian kiss scene (and pushes to boycott Disney by conservatives earlier this spring) could have something to do with the film’s poor box office.
I hesitate to recommend it if you’re concerned that it’s “just” a kids’ movie. It’s a more serious Buzz Lightyear story, time dilation is a part of the story, but I don’t want to oversell it. Maybe wait for a more low-stakes opportunity to give it a try, like watching it on TV?
That's why I asked, like, is it paw patrol or idk toy story 3 (which while I haven't seen it I've heard is actually good even if aimed at kids)?
Piracy always

Interesting, I never expected a corporation to not be chickenshit in this timeline.
Nah, most people dont even know its out. There is 0 marketing outside of big cities and the movie also looks unappealing.
Basically, the people who are aware of it have a political stand and most peopme dont even care because it doesnt appeal to them, same thing happened with raya.
because the fundamental reason why chuds hate gay people is because they find them gross, anything else they say is a smoke screen
its harder for them to get upset about lesbians, they do it out of nescessity to not look hypocritical/hide their true axioms, including lesbians is super safe
He's right though. It makes no sense to let your kids watch movies which positively portray something that's antithetical to your most important values.
I doubt many LGBT people would feel comfortable with their children watching some children's movie that had a supportive, sympathetic portrayal of someone disowning LGBT family or friends. Or a movie with some extremely racist character in the background who was presented as someone whose beliefs were entirely valid and should be respected.
>supportive, sympathetic portrayal of someone disowning LGBT family or friends
lmaoooooooooo >extremely racist character >valid and should be respected
but this literally does happen lol
you're allowed to slam whites in cinema now, just not anyone else >inb4 muh LULZlack white genocide great replacement bullshit

Is it a kids movie or generally interesting?

Definitely closer to Toy Story 3 than Paw Patrol.

They edit the movie for other countries dumbass. In Saudi Arabia they just remove that scene. They do it all the time

They literally didn't, for once. Hence why it's banned.
Finally
Still nobody should praise this
I'm fact, they probably only kept the kiss because it's 2 girls and nobody *should* be outrages about lesbians.

why is "gay representation" lesbians 9 times out of 10?
all the fucking tv shows are about cis white gaymen kys let us lesbians have something
Because straight men find it attractive
What's it like in the parallel universe?
call me by your name love simon and brokeback mountain

bc npcs are more terrified of gay men and mtfs for some reason, it's the same reason ftms seem basically overlooked in the transphobe olympics

Children don't need to be exposed to sexuality.
Then do you want to ban all romance for kids you dumb fuck?
