honestly 'A Calendar of Wisdom' by Leo Tolstoy is one of my favorite books.

A series of quotes for each day pertaining to a certain theme.

very blessed i stumbled upon it

I also recommend 'A Gospel in Brief' by Tolstoy

Because the 1500s were a pretty good time to live in.
Still territory to expand to. Wars were still glamorous and a chance for glory. Knowledge was only going up. You could still reasonably count on being able to be a manly man or a womanly woman and be rewarded for that.

        The Bible. I'm not kidding.

Even if you don't believe in that god, trying to follow the rules set by the bible will force you to be healthy and stop thinking negatively. I suggest starting with the ten commandments.

You don't need to believe it for it to work. Anyways, faith is something that develops with time.

anything not whole should be thrown out. if you want a good sweet, bake your own. In general, eat whole foods, avoid ultra processed garbage. Occasionally treat yourself to something, if it tickles your fancy.

this is such a massively damaging lie that is peddled to the younger generations. you need to find the job that you can accept, rather than chasing a dream that is never going to happen.

It is a lie in the sense that the vast majority of people will have to settle for jobs they don't particularly like, but if you are above the average person in terms of ability it shouldn't be too difficult to find a job which is fulfilling to you.

Man that still sounds like a cope to me. I read the bible and see it has value in providing values and wisdom. The wisdom books are good for that.

          >Expect to go without pussy for a good long while
A buyer's market is about to emerge as the economy contracts and millions of women with fake degrees from Stanford and higher expectations from life than they can afford try to keep living in expensive cities even as daddy says he has to curtail their "allowance" (rent) money slightly because even he's suffering. Millions and millions of women are about to consider casual prostitution, in an environment already prepared by "sex work" propaganda that makes it sound exciting and normalizes it.

I strongly recommend shifting to a prostitute-based model of sexual fulfillment in the current economy. It will pay dividends in a few years. Remember, most of your favorite literary and philosophical heroes didn't whine about being an incel, they just went to brothels and chatted up fun prostitutes, and then got a fat wife when they had to, and cheated on her. This can be you! And the brothels will soon be cheaper than ever!

For generations, women have collectively been clamoring to be perceived a certain way. Acquiesce them and begin enjoying life. Better $200 of your money here and there, translating to a few hours of your labor time, than a lifetime of angst and thousands of hours wasted usually with no result.

      >youtube

      How about something less fictional?

How about you stop being depressed yourself?

Depression is only cured by having what Heidegger called the Umwillen, the "for-the-sake-of-which" one acts, and that can only arise within an interpretation of the world as fundamentally meaningful.

How this used to work in previous eras is that most people, as in all eras, are relatively prosaic, what William James called "once-born" types, meaning they only have to be born once to be happy, they don't have to undergo what James called "conversion" to a higher and more integrated form of themselves and their own take on how the world fits together and why it all matters. Prosaic people may have minor conversion experiences, but they are for prosaic reasons, which usually have concrete solutions. The most obvious and common one is having kids - how many normies suddenly become just fine after having a family, even a shitty family Their sense of purpose is always near at hand, and depression is only ever a case of one prosaic regime of satisfaction lapsing (youthful hedonism) and another one (dedication to family, basic fuzzy feelings of family gatherings and barbecues with tolerable acquaintance every weekend) not having arrived yet.

But the whole therapy and antidepressant industry is predicated on the assumption that ALL unhappiness stems from concrete problems which have concrete solutions, often brute materialistic reasons of neurochemical imbalances (despite this making no sense in most cases).

If you reject or at least suspend your tacit faith in this pre-interpretation of the world as filled only with prosaic people experiencing prosaic problems, then you have a double problem. You have the initial problem that a non-prosaic person would have in every era, namely, your sense of the world and of your place in it is not hanging together, doesn't form a concrete whole that makes you feel excited to get up every day and tackle life and preform your unique service to the world. But the secondary problem is caused by living in a world that no longer even really understands that people like you exist. At least prosaic people 700 years ago might go "oh that's Theobald, we think he's going to join the Franciscans any day now, he is very troubled by matters of the soul" or "oh that's Berengar, he does nothing but speak of armed pilgrimage to the Holy Land since that preacher came, and you know we don't have a plot for him to inherit anyway, so it's just as well." But now prosaic people will strap you to a hospital bed and force-feed you pills they don't understand because you said you are bored of Marvel movies after seeing 294 of them.

If you're prosaic, disregard all this. It's possible you really do just have a chemical imbalance. But if not, you have to break through to an objective grasp of reality and start caring about the world in a way that makes your daily life a mission. Reality becoming thin and gray to you may just be the obverse of a higher world, of infinitely more substance and lustre, trying to get you to notice it.

This is disgusting crap. Everyone must be reborn in Christ

These are important too but they are insufficient if you interpret them entirely prosaically, i.e., as
      >I'm a big dumb normie who likes Marvel movies. But now I'm sad! Maybe if I ate more fruit and worked out I'd be happy again, because the material chemicals in my meaningless mindless material Marvel-watching brain would flow a little better!
Normies can actually benefit from a "stop being an unhealthy moron who only goes out at 2AM, you need sunlight and proper sleep and fewer sulfides in your diet" anti-depression regime. But the most rewarding application of such a regime comes from when you actually regard life as objectively important, and thus yourself as an important player in it, with significant shit to do, and thus your body becomes a temple that should be maintained. When you can feel health and goodness pouring into your soul from some transcendent goal that you are striving towards, you naturally want to make your body into the best possible vessel for the soul, and this naturally radiates back outwards and makes you healthy in that "glowing" way that even the superficially healthiest people sometimes don't have.

      >Socrates
      >Come now, let me tell you another parable from the same school as that I have just told. Consider if each of the two lives, the temperate and the licentious, might be described by imagining that each of two men had a number of jars, [493e] and those of one man were sound and full, one of wine, another of honey, a third of milk, and various others of various things, and that the sources of each of these supplies were scanty and difficult and only available through much hard toil: well, one man, when he has taken his fill, neither draws off any more nor troubles himself a jot, but remains at ease on that score; whilst the other finds, like his fellow, that the sources are possible indeed, though difficult, but his vessels are leaky and decayed, [494a] and he is compelled to fill them constantly, all night and day, or else suffer extreme distress. If such is the nature of each of the two lives, do you say that the licentious man has a happier one than the orderly? Do I, with this story of mine, induce you at all to concede that the orderly life is better than the licentious, or do I fail?

The worst part is that there will never be any resistance towards it. The current elite have convinced the entire population that if they are against mass immigration they are racist and that they have the power to basically neuter any actual resistance against their regime through carpet banning them from all modern public squares (social media).

            >What they actually fear is locals and immigrants uniting against the current power.
No, what they actually fear is useful idiot fake leftists like you, who appeal to the bourgeois socdem myth of "don't hate the immigrant, we're all fellow workers :^)!!" to appeal to people's nicey-nice desire not to be mean to immigrants, being finally defeated by real anticapitalists, who remember perfectly well the UNIVERSAL disdain all historical socialist and communist movements have had for capitalists using mass immigration to dilute local labor solidarity

Only a completely bourgeois utopian idiot would allow capitalists to import foreign labor into a market that already has precarious labor organization, because it has been proved a million times that there labor organization is easier to dilute than to increase. The former only requires mixing up and dispersing existing labor, while the latter requires years of hard work and grassroots effort. Every real socialist and labor organizer knows this, and that is why EVERY SINGLE FRICKING LABOR MOVEMENT, INCLUDING THE MEXICAN AMERICAN LABOR LEADER CESAR CHAVEZ, WAS VIOLENTLY AND VICIOUSLY OPPOSED TO "OPEN BORDERS" IMMIGRATION

Bernie Sanders: "Open borders? No, that's a Koch brothers proposal"

This shit is a bipartisan issue between left and right, mass immigration is proveably only good for capitalists and everybody has known it for 200 years. Nobody has ever been for it, ever, until recently.

Modern "leftists" are so fricking psy opped by the CIA that they can't even see when they are literally defending the opposite of their own historical ideas. They're all pro-"sex work," which is the most un-Marxist thing you could ever be, and pro-labor dilution. And why? What's at the root of all this confusion? Because the only actual idea in their heads is a, by design, systematically vague notion of "b-be nice... d-don't upset anyone.. c-can't we all just let people do what they want to do.." which is a disgusting blend of bourgeois-anarchist cultural politics (which Marx's whole raison d'etre for 30+ years was ruthlessly trying to stamp out), combined with English laissez faire liberalism.

You just can't salvage the modern left, they are just empty vessels into which the CIA can pour anything it likes.

The 'replacement' is faltering as the migrants run into the same problems the rest of the soft west has run into:
The more money you make, the less evolutionary impulse there is to have lots of kids.
Also, once you start making money, you're going to want to control immigration so that your labor isn't devalued.

          Basically:
          >Illegals and ''''refugees''' breed a lot when they're poor and they need the extra hands around.
          >They immigrate to a rich country, legally or otherwise.
          >they realize kids cost a lot of the money they could be saving for themselves
          >they stop reproducing

Long story short, the replacement is, at best, a fantasy/nightmare that won't come true.
At worst, it's going to result in a lot of countries in the third world ending up under utilized and needing recolonized/taken control of.

If you want to do your part, remember that there are religions like Catholicism with like minded individuals who will want to fill your house with brats.

Unless you're European, I don't think it's really that big of a deal. Immigrants in the U.S. are assimilating, especially Hispanics and Asians (both East and South Asians). They're inter-marrying with Americans and are abandoning the leftist voting blocs. You're already seeing some label Hispanics and Asians white as punishment.

And yet self-improvement cults and the Manosphere have enraptured the entirety of young men. There is yet hope for them all.

I go in cycles where I’ll either watch a lot of old movies at night or read at night to wind down. I make it something to look forward to rather than something that has to be done. Of course when I was still in school I’d just read all the time since that was why I was there and I enjoyed it. So if you’re student age try to make sure there’s at least a class or two where you’d actually just read the material anyway rather than having it be imposed on you.

Feeling bad (or good) is mostly a question of feedback loops, which implies that there are things that objectively should make you feel better (or worse). Feeling depressive causing you to neglect healthy living, meaning you feel even worse, leading to even worse neglect of yourself etc. Better diet, a minimum of social interaction, exercise and physical activity, feelings of productivity.

Focus on the positive things in your life. Whenever you feel down, try to flip the switch. It took me a while to be able to do it. Keep a positive attitude and be pleasant towards people. That energy is reciprocated. Look for silver linings. Know that there will always be challenges and bouts of feeling blue. Know that all things pass, the good and the bad, so keep a level head in both. Set realistic expectations. If you notice that things just aren’t getting better, then you are the common denominator. It’s you who needs to change something. Change is uncomfortable and no one likes it. Focus on the individual. People lose their individuality in masses and the worst comes out. Try not to give a frick in a good way. Let your ego go and be yourself.

This is the best recommendation you're going to get: Journey to the Orient by Gerard Nerval.
It's a 19th century travel book by an autist with a depressive streak. He traveled around the Middle East, immersed himself in local culture and folklore, and was able to recount a number of very interesting stories, including the true story of the secret Druze religion's formation.
After you read it, you'll feel as though there is more to the world than what you see around you. That, in other words, the world has more potential -- that there is more it can do to surprise and even shock you. What's more, you may feel inspired to go on a journey of your own.
After you're done with Nerval, you can consult the rest of the list in picrel. But start with Nerval.

You homosexuals are young so I’m going to hit you with a truth bomb. Life has always been hard and there has always been depression, no matter the era or person. Life is what you make of it. Sometimes the dice don’t roll good numbers but you can still always make the best of the situation. Sometimes you’re lucky and the dice roll is perfect. It’s up to you to seize the opportunity. Don’t blame others for your issues. That’s the biggest issue I see today. Everyone wants to point fingers at someone. But who has ever been able to change the hearts of men? Do your best, always improve and keep your head up. Don’t be an oldgay looking back on life with regrets

It's fine (to a point) if you regret things you've done. The horrible thing is when you regret things you've never done. Yes, I'm referring to sex, but I also have other things in mind.

And no, I (almost) never blame anyone but myself. I put myself here.

Then realize you can get yourself out. Sex really isn’t a big deal. Go to a hooker if need be. The game changer is when you realize girls desire sex. It’s not difficult to get. It’s incels who put sex on a pedestal like some sacred object. You smash your genitals together for 30secs to 30 mins, feel good, open up a window and wash yourself up. If you want real good advice, take this: if you better yourself in other areas sex will come. Girls have a good sixth sense for this shit

no one says we should be bound by the place we were born if you wanna blame the goverments and policies go ahead but don't be a hate filled individual who is being played by higher powers who wants you to feel the way you are feeling right now
don't become a cuck but also don't become a tool

    >turns down sex offers from women he isn't serious about

    Isn't that crazy?
I'm 26 now and never thought it would happen to me... And yet it did.
I also fell in love and felt the pain of being rejected for the first time since 2012.
It was honestly a good experience, because I genuinely thought I was now incapable of falling in love.
    Totally unexpected.

I even made a post right here on IQfy complaining about how I would never feel love again, and had people telling me I would eventually feel "adult love", or whatever. This was last year.
Anyway, there's nothing adult about it. It felt just like it had ten years ago. The only difference was that I now thought about living together, marrying, etc.
And being rejected, of course, felt even worse.

But now I went back to dating apps, got some 40 matches altogether, and it all seems so inane that I just don't care. For the first time in my life I find myself instantly rejecting pictures not only of women with huge asses, but also of "cute" 18 year olds, and so on.
    Never thought it would happen.

Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude, but only if you already agree with the premise that a positive mental attitude leads to positive outcomes and a negative attitude leads to etc.

Are you physically well? Adequate exercise and movement every day? Normal sleeping schedule? Getting all your essential vitamins? Eating well? It's hard to understand how detrimental a sedentary lifestyle or basic vitamin deficiency is on your mood and your brain until you're out of it and back into a healthy state. Trying to help your mind while neglecting your body is like trying to ride a bike refusing to put it in gear, lube the chain, fill up the tires, etc. Normally the bike does most of the work for you provided you keep up a cadence, the same is true for the relationship between your body and mind.

Release the tension stored in your muscles. Relax your frown, jaw and shoulders. Try and breathe deeply several times. Drink green tea, it's great for the mood. Drink enough water throughout the day. You will be alright anon. I believe in you.

Depends, if it's a chronic thing you may have brain a defect (hyperactive amygdala, clogged dentrides in certain area of your brain, etc) and be in need of both meds and psychotherapy.
If lucky you may be able to drop the meds and rely on psychotherapy alone.
And just be thankful you're not schizophrenic, it could have been worst.
Ketamine might also help you as a short-term rapid action anti-depressant just to pick yourself up and get enough drive to move on.
    Nietzsche is all right too...

Unironically get the frick off this god forsaken website, I wish I never got back into it. Seriously, I can't imagine it being a net positive on anyone's life and most people here have a crab mentality and would rather drown in the misery and be an edgy teenager pushing 30. Get off the computer, go outside, find God if that's your scene, anything but wasting away here.

I read Atlas Shrugged. I know what you probably think of Rand, I went in thinking Bioshock was an accurate portrayal of her beliefs and that I would throw down the book after two pages. I came out believing that mankind is capable of great things, that I alone have the power to change my life. But I think what has more personal feel to it is The Fountainhead. It divulges more on dreams and integrity. Godspeed, anon.

What I've realized is that they don't exist
If a book can make you happy it can only do it for a little while
Happiness itself is just like a drug
It lasts a little while then wears off and every time it takes more and more to get back to the same point
I recommend forgetting about all that and just getting used to the suffering

    It's a book called:
    >go outside and do some kind of fun activity with other people

      Anonymous

      No, it's not. It's called
      >if you can't find happiness where you are, where do you expect to find it?
And realizing that for most people on this website, they are poisoned by materialism and porn-addiction/obsession with sex.
If you can't be happy alone, you won't be happy around others. You might be distracted by others for a bit, but you won't be magically made happy.
