Books that have made you cry

I haven't really cried to a book. Feeling utterly numb as though I should but I can't feel anything. Just a little tinge of sadness on some bits. For example, the early chapter of Wuthering Heights describing how Cathy's father dies had me a little choked up but I couldn't quite actually cry. It's probably a me issue, but post any books itt that you cried to or felt some very melancholy things about. Anything welcome if you think it'll gut punch me hard enough. I want to feel anything but just can't seem to.

Oh, sorry anon. Didn't realize it's pathetic to want literature to make you feel emotional response. What's pathetic is your shitty post, made in no time at all. To see the thread, click it, fill in the captcha, and effectively wipe your ass with your keyboard in order to feel some emotion is much better, right? You don't like books, you don't care about literature. You just make dumpster tier throwaway posts like this in the hopes of trying to get a laugh or two, maybe a screenshot for reddit. No, anon, you are "kind of pathetic." You're the same type of idiot to post the Andrew Tate threads or a stupid prostitute webm here while shitting up the board quality. You're part of the reason why this board is dying. Shut the frick up and get out, I'm asking the question to people who actually read.

Books that have made me cry:
    TBK
    For Whom the Bell Tolls

All Quiet on the Western Front
    Flowers for Algernon
    Grapes of Wrath
    Call of the Wild

Thank you for the real post, anon. All are on my backlog except for Flowers. I had to put down The Whale at one point after about 10 chapters because something in life came up but I'd like to go back to it (too bad I lost literally all my books to flooding recently or I'd just pick it up right now). I'll consider the list and download something onto ereader, maybe.

Out of all of these I've only read Phaedo and I didn't cry. Do you think I'd cry if I'd read some of the other ones, or are they on the same level as Phaedo?

No, I would actually consider Phaedo to be the must unusual pick on my list.

I cry pretty easily whenever there are strong emotions at play. someone dies or someone gets married or anything like that. feels funny as I'm tall and scary looking and people give me space in public and stuff but I throw tears over nothing. most books with anything emotional make me cry.

I feel like I used to, over stupid petty shit. Especially if animals were involved or something happened to an animal, not even death explicitly but anything. And especially some music as well or moments within books that make me think of music. But lately I feel like nothing at all. thanks for reading my blogpost. Guess I'll try to bury my numbed emotion in more books.

      Prufrock
      Preludes
      Gerontion
      The Waste Land
      The Hollow Men
      Ash Wednesday
      Four Quartets

Ty for the recs, I'll look into them.

      It's on my list.

      Stoner
      The Idiot
      The Birds by Vesaas
      Norwegian Wood

Crime and Punishment, Fellowship of the Ring, Othello, King Lear, The Denial of Death, Thus Spoke Zarathustra and Frankenstein.

Good stuff, Stoner and Frankenstein made me feel more rage and isolation respectively but didn't cry. Need to get around to the rest.

The Sea of Tranquility, the first 50 pages are not the easiest to go through but it's kind of a wild ride afterwards. I read it recently and I unconsciously drew so many parallels with my ex I just exploded into tears.

The part where his daughter gave birth despite her husband dying. I don't remember the line exactly, but it was about how she named her son after the father he would never meet

Oh, that wasn't particularly touching to me. Maybe it has to do with a personal experience of you?
The ending was heavy tho, how life can be wasted for nothing

    David Copperfield.
I didn't think it would affect me, the early chapters hit hard.
    Poor kid.
