>given the most prestigious award in the world
>refuses to comment for weeks after
>finally releases a half-assed statement that was probably written by some intern
>doesn't go to his own award ceremony
>refuses to do the expected academy lecture until the very last day of eligibility to collect the cash prize
>copies his entire speech from the internet 5 minutes before he took the podium
He's just too based for this world
My dad fucking hates him because of this. He already didn’t like his music but when he didn’t bother to show up he got really really angry over it for some reason
Dylan has never wanted to be lionized and he rarely gives his time to those who do. I think it's funny how journalists and scholars have spent decades picking apart his music and viewpoints and should know all that, yet still assume he'll play by the rules when put to it.
Wow, it's almost like his name is actually Robert Zimmerbergstein and it's all just one great big grift to him.
So when people say something is based, they're basically just saying it's shit, right? It's solely ironic at this point?
Not in the slightest. He clearly doesn’t give a fuck about the award or the ceremony so he completely half assed his speech after leaving them in the dark for so long. The fact he shows such contempt for one of the most prestigious titles one can have is not only a massive chad move but it’s also rather inspiring
Yeah, but whenever people say someone it's based it's always for the most awful and shameful things. Nobody should ever model themselves after Bob Dylan. I would hate his guts if I knew him in real life. Whenever someone says something is based, it's because they're arrogant, self-absorbed assholes. Douchebags.
It's Oxford Town.
fuck bob dylan

Can't get into him...
Give a shot to Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde, John Wesley Harding and Blood on the Tracks. If you don't like any of them, I don't know what to say
It takes time. I used to fucking hate him until one day he just kinda clicked with me. Blood on the Tracks or Highway 61 Revisited are probably your best bets with getting to grips with him as they’ve got some of his best songs and some of his more accessible vocals
Funny, I hated him for a long time, and then thought he clicked because I liked Blonde On Blonde and a few other albums. So at one point I had about four Bob Dylan albums on my phone, and every time I was listening to my music on shuffle* and one of his songs came on, they always stood out to me as the worst fucking songs in my library. It was then that I realized that I still actually hate him.
*I can do whatever the fuck I want. I rarely listen to music on shuffle, but I can, so fuck off. It depends on what I'm doing. If I'm cleaning house or something then yeah I'll put my music on shuffle. It's a good way to rediscover songs you've forgotten about, including ones you don't like that shouldn't really be in your library, as my above anecdote proves.
Understandable. I’ve listened to plenty of artists who I thought were great at first but then I realised that they’re actually fucking shit
he looks like a Italian mobster
Seeing him in concert next month for the first time :3
You're either going to be in heaven or pissed off. Depends on what kind of mood he's in.
hope you really like the new album and whatever random deep cuts he'll throw in
His set lists are always kinda weird. He mainly plays a good chunk of his latest album plus whatever he feels like. I know the last show he did was 80% Rough and Rowdy Ways with stuff like Watching the River Flow and Gotta Serve Somebody thrown in for good measure. Don’t expect Like a Rolling Stone or Knocking on Heaven’s door because you aren’t gonna get it
Where you seeing him anon? I’m going to both Glasgow dates.
bob dylan's 115th dream is the funniest song I've ever heard
For some reason the line
>Boys, forget about the whale
really cracks me up
whats he grillin?
