I’d say it’s mostly fit dependant, as such I find brown boots more versatile, or at least I tend to wear my browns way more than my blacks.
That being said I don’t suscribe the "no black boots" policy some autists have.

they’re both good, but brown somehow makes it seem more deliberate, which can work for you.
Timbs and Redwings aside, you have to want brown boots to have them.

I can’t decide. I’m going with dark brown because I’m poor, but in a perfect world I’d have black boots and lighter brown.

I didn’t know people actually wore brown boots unironically, like I didn’t believe people would be that stupid lmao

This looks like a Stridewise thumbnail. I used to follow that guy’s channel since the early days when he did it as a hobby but now that he’s a full-time "content creator" and everything he does is for sponsor or ad revenue, his channel just heels so shitty now

Red Wing Bekcman in black cherry featherstone vs vintage Doc Martens in oxblood. I can’t capture the true colors on my shitty camera phone, so bottom with flash, top without.

Be kind to them, they’re +20 years old. I’m very fond of my docs because their sentimental value to me, even though I hardly wear them anymore. But in terms of quality of materials and construction, the Beckmans blow them out so much it’s not even funny.

I also own a pair of Iron Rangers and they might be the boots I currently wear the most. My old docs are still ohlding up but after so many years and me gaining weight they’re beginning to develop a couple of pressure points. I might have to retire them pretty soon.
That being said, I compared this paor, from before doc martens took a dive in quality, to modern production docs, including the vintage model and the MiE, and mine are way, way much better. I wouldn’t bother with modern docs.

Depends. I tend not to like a lot of the service/casual heritage boots because they end up looking too dressy for my tastes. Especially black ones. Brown boots that have some decent distressing and wear are a lot easier to pull off, especially with just something simple like jeans and a tee.

I love my IRs, got em back in like 2017 from a Red Wing store, went through their sizing process and tried on a few pairs with one of the employees giving me advice. Ended up with a pair that fits amazing. I haven’t really put as much wear on them as I should, but they’ve held up fine with regular brushings and conditioner. I have a pair of 1000 Miles too… but again they look a bit dressy compared to the IRs, I always feel underdressed wearing them lol.

If I could choose only one, it would be black, since it wouldnt outright clash with any other color or individual garment
