My gut feeling is that NATO would win. Higher focus on precision weapons and a more powerful airforce would give them the edge. Also just significantly more manpower and overall technological edge in most gear.
I know that most of you would like the opposite result, so I'm sure there's at least a few good arguments out there on how Russia could pull off an upset.

that's what it looks alright, but there's a lot of confident pro-russian posts out there that keep saying Russia has already won the war, and that the rest of NATO is next. I don't buy it, but on the off chance that they are not bluffing, I decided to give them the opportunity to say what their reasons are for thinking that Russia can defeat. I would never discount the Russians in any war. Who knows, maybe they do have some winning plan after all.

now that's just silly. why would I be asking what would happen in a hypothetical war between Russia and all of NATO if believed that Russia is losing to just ukraine?

Nobody wins. The deal between the nuclear powers has always been no first strike unless home territory is invaded. Invade the USA, Russia, China and you will most certainly find out.

well, russia also has bombs and long range missiles. I don't think NATO has the wherewithal at this point to sustain the casualties needed to press very far into russia.
and for russia's part, they gain nothing by trying to push west -- the longer a conflict drags on, the better.
they've shown that they can survive just fine with the sanctions, how well would europe do without russian gas/oil? Not to mention, just from the proxy war aspect -- as in arming ukraine, how deep is the production backlog on new ordinance at this point?

NATO would win conventional war, they have far more supplies and people. But it would literally destroy both of them after nukes and the west stands to lose far more than russia.
