Best place to get a turtleneck like picrel?

I’d like a "normal" turtleneck, no design or special pattern of weave or anything, just straight ribs or whatever is in picrel, and almost more important I’d like it to be short, ideally around 23 inches for a XS/S (36 chest if you’re wondering). Yes I’ve checked my local thrift stores and eBay, not great pickings. Thanks.

I’ve got one just like that (Polo brand) but I ralphed on it on the night bus once. It’s clean now tho, size XXL, I’d let you have it for $80, ships from Croatia, lmk if you’re interested

the lambswool ones from uniqlo are okay
would recommend against thinner smoother materials (merino, cashmere, etc) as they can look kinda metrosexual. lambswool is substantial and rugged but still sophisticated

I want something nicer than Uniqlo, I have money to spend lol.

      TJXesque bargain brand-name stores.
You have to be patient and diligent, checking often.
It’s easier to find things out of season, so unfortunately you might be hooped until spring; unless you have no problem overpaying at a store that has guaranteed stock.
If you don’t have patience and some foresight, you will chase trends with the herd and get fleeced.

Not sure what TJX is, but anything they carry in stores like that there’s no way they’re not all 27 inches in length, all the normie tier sweaters nowadays are way too long, I’m looking for ~22.5 inches in length (I use that number from a used extremely rare W catch I found on eBay, the length is phenomenal for my height and trouser rise and I wear it often)

It depends on your budget. I would suggest 100% wool regardless because having cheap artificial fibers made of plastic on your neck is going to make you sweat like crazy.

Expensive but still affordable tier: Drumohr, Altea, Gran Sasso

Good but cheaper tier: Alpha Studio

Will last a season at best tier: Benetton

this is the turtleneck in your picture. they also make it in navy. beware the "heavy gague" pattern, it has a different knit pattern.

Looking at these from another Anon’s recommendation, is $300 too much to spend on a single piece of knitwear? I feel comfortable with spending $180-200 for sure. Any experience with this brand? Is any knitwear worth that much? Thanks.

Knitwear can easily get up to $4-500 before you really drop off on price/quality. Can’t speak to that brand in particular though.

a friend of mine gave me his heimat rollneck sweater and it’s nice but not worth $300. Wind gets right through it and it isn’t particularly warm. I also got caught in the rain and when it got wet I smelled like an actual animal and stunk up the entire room. Just a warning.

lmao thanks for letting me know. I’m so desperate for a ribbed turtleneck in navy or cream that simply is ~23 inches, all I can find at lowest is ~25 inches. The only sweater I wear is one I got off eBay that’s 22.5 inches and the length is PERFECT. I’m ~5’9 and wear mid waisted trousers so I really am searching for shorter sweaters.
