What's the best car you've ever owned, and the worst, in your opinion?
I'll start
Best: 1986 BMW 735i
Worst: 1991 Chevy Camaro

I'll start
Best: 1986 BMW 735i
Worst: 1991 Chevy Camaro
Best: 2000 Toyota Sienna - never broke down, never had a problem until I started raping it by overloading until the rear suspension collapsed and the engine started throwing out spark plugs.
Worst: 2017 chevy silverado. Year after I bought it the starter went out. Then the lights stopped working. shoulda looked at the vin before I bought it bc it didn't start with 1. sad!
That Mark VIII looks so fucking good.
Every one I see irl looks like it was probably inherited by some Gen X'er methhead that trashed it. The rear airbags are never replaced so they look squatted, DIY window tint bubbling, cigarette ash covering every interior surface, backseat buried in fast food bags, etc.
The air compressors will also grenade, eventually and they are expensive (and slower than the originals).
Don't tell me that all of Ford's parts-binning and they gave the Mark VIII proprietary air compressors instead of using the Town Car's?
Nah, I mean the replacements. Ford was out of'em a decade ago. They literally wouldn't even sell me the airbags - they were hoarding them for people willing to let idiot mechanics do the work. I had to go aftermarket. Same piston-style design, but markedly slower output.
Damn, now that I think about it, you might be right. The Marks automatically dropped 2 inches, at around 50mph and went to full height below 15mph, if I remember correctly. They would have needed a faster pump to keep up with the changes.
It's probably the same compressor just on a different mount so it "doesn't fit" anything else. Or they threw a different plug on a Mark VIII so Town Car compressors "don't fit".
Best:
2013 Taurus SHO
Worst: 09 Acura TSX
Reasoning: quite literally the only 2 cars I’ve ever owned so far lel
How do you like the sho? I looking at a 2017 sho but idk what's so great besides having the truck engine.
Was that an E32 or the previous E23?
For me the best I've owned was my 1989 E32 750i BMW. Absolutely adored that car, my previous boss did a 6 speed swap on it, an E31 850CSi 560G, clutch and flywheel, E32 740i auto diff with a custom fabricated driveshaft.
The thing went beyond the 280kmh speedometer. Google maps, back when it showed your speed and had the "just drive" shit showed 325kmh.
Had to get rid of her due to financial reasons, the company I was working for lost my tax card and my tax percentage jumped from 13% to 64%, my biweekly wage was like 300€ with overtime. Rent was 500€, so I was fucked and had to let her go.
Thankfully some older dude from Germany called me pretty much the moment I listed it online that he's coming to buy it the next weekend for the 7 grand I was asking for. Told me that the transmission alone is worth that much.
Dude drove to Finland day and night with his wife and came to pick up the car in the middle of the night, bought it almost no questions asked aside for "anything I need to know for a 3000km trip?". I had to convince him to go for a test drive with me just to make sure he isn't buying some completely run down piece of shit.
The worst car I've owned would have to be a toss up between my Škoda and all the toyotas I've owned.
The toyotas, they've just not been reliable, always something broken, always leaving me stranded for one reason or another and to top it all of they all were pretty miserable to drive.
Objectively the worst car I've owned is probably my 1982 Škoda 120GLS. I love that car, but in all honesty it's been an absolute dogshit car to own, specifically the engine has so many issues, you couldn't trust it to make 20km without fucking up something, mostly blowing the headgasket. I got everything skimmed, I got new bolts, I got new gaskets for the wet liners and still it blew the headgasket after 120km and was dripping coolant into the oil from the cylinder liners.
Those Citations are really squatty

Honestly hard to choose as they each had their own distinct advantages and quirks, but taking EVERYTHING into account, probably my 1992 318i E30. My dad basically gave her to me after my first car was found to be concerningly rotten. Brandy wasn't free of rot herself mind you, but being 30 years old she had a valid excuse. Gearbox was vague, suspension was pillow-y, steering was 3,000 degrees of rotation lock to lock, performance was on par with the bus the steering rack came from, and yet I loved that car right up until the day we sold her with just over 200,000 miles on the clock.
>Worst
My first car, a 2006 Ford KA. It's only real redeeming feature was that it cost only £300, otherwise it was your average tinny poverty-spec shitbox. I still liked it, enough to swap in leather seats from a "luxury" model at least, but it was arguably the worst car I've owned. Just unremarkable in every way.
Best: 1998 Nissan Skyline GTST- I love it
Worst: 1998 Nissan Skyline GTST- Its shit, my fiesta is more reliable
Best: 1995 RX-7 (just don’t be poor, do your repairs on time)
Worst: Daewaoo Prince (cost about $500. Scrapped for $500 so I guess not the worst thing ever).
What kind of old cars do you have in Korea aside from Korean ones, of course.
Not in Korea anymore, but they had/have super high tariffs on foreign cars so you generally only see Korean cars or re-badged GM-shit. My friend’s 997 (i think) turbo 911 cost him over $200k. Government workers (especially high-ranking ones) are also basically banned from driving foreign cars.
Best: Fucking '98 MkVIII, but not an LSC, like this one.
Worst: '86 Dodge Daytona, because they don't hold together, if you get rear-ended by an F-150, at 45mph.
Best: 2004 Ponitac Vibe
Worst: 2009 Ford F150
Best: 2001 BMW X5 & 1999 Mazda Miata (one was in pretty good condition and the other was a blast to own)
Worst: 2006 Lexus GS300 (abysmal condition, no redeeming qualities whatsoever)
Will never stop hating my 06 GS300, and this is coming from a diehard Lexus fanboi who owned a 97 LS400, 02 LS430, and a 04 RX330.
I bought a 97 LSC in Seattle, drove down the PCH, then did route 66 back east, Certainly wasn't the worst car I've ever owned, and I wanted to like it more than I did, but never fell in love with it sadly.
Worst car I've ever put on the road was a 07 TrailBlazer, it was free and it still wasn't worth it.
Best car is probably my 05 LR3.
what didn't you like about your Mark VIII?
Best: 2006 focus, it just feels very good to drive, the steering is very tight, and it just feels planted in corners. Best fuel economy I've had in a car too
Worst: 1993 Ford escort wagon, actually pretty impressive how much Ford improved with the focus over this car, it felt floaty and had awful power (88hp from a 1.9l), and I'm not even a person that generally cares about hp. The only redeeming aspects of it was the kickass red interior and the fact that it was a wagon
Best: 2005 park avenue. Bought it from a body shop guy who rebuilt it. Put close to 100k mi a year out it with just maintenance. Gave it to someone who put a tranny in it and flipped it. I've seen it around quite recently. It's up there around half a million miles for sure.
Worst: 1994 F150. Literally everything that wasn't a mechanical part of the engine was a problem. I ran out of doners in the back lot, out of patience playing the fake/wrong new parts game, and the thing was a massive liability for my business. Solid chance it wouldn't make it out of the driveway once a week. I had to stop working for 6 months to replace it and get rid of the bullshit I acquired to enable the continued existence of that slag heap.
