Libraries have become glorified homeless shelters in big cities. There's more homeless people now and they end up in the only indoor building that won't kick them out and that also has air conditioning, bathrooms, and chairs i.e. libraries. The librarians in my city get trained in overdose prevention as part of their onboarding. They also get assaulted regularly. Librarians talk about it amongst themselves all the time, check r/librarians.

It has all of that, but in very limited quantity. Fortunately I can just ask the front desk for basically anything and they will order it for me. It's pretty nice.

it was around 3k$. Took me 3 trips to transport. The sad backstory was that it belonged to the guys dad, a scholar and uni professor (some of his books came with the others ) who died of covid, and his son was getting rid of them. With the collection i got something like 40 rolled up 50" black and while old heavy duty reference collection prints, that i now have framed up in my house. Some of those of those go for a grand . though i hope to never sell them. Lots of margin notes, complete with incomprehensible professor handwriting and lots of odd book formats that i had to construct custom shelves for.

Im super happy with it overall

Stray cats. I gave one a bit of food a few years ago and now I have 3 stray cats just living in my house. They spend most of their time outside, more or less just come in to sleep and annoy me while I'm trying to read.
