Bonus fact(for megastupid /uhg/s and other rerards):
Conscripts in Russia are not sent abroad because it is forbidden, but when the enemy invades Russian territory, they perform their civic duty as auxiliary troops for the internal troops of the Russian Federation (National Guard (Rosgvardiya), FSB special forces, assault units of the Interior Ministry and others)

There is something surreal about seeing soviet patches in 2023. And I would be lying if I said it isn't mildly vomit-inducing for an East-European, even for one who otherwise roots for Russia on this one. Please try to keep it within the borders of the old Russian Empire this time.

Seems like it's an old hold over from Soviet thinking. Officers carrying pistols was always just a status thing that rose from the rigid discipline and class structure of the British armed forces so it wouldn't surprise me if they were even encouraged to be sloppy messes. There's a lot of stupid shit that came from that style of military but those ways of thinking and constant class discipline are good for keeping your military in line even if saluting every fucking officer when you're just walking around is the dumbest shit it serves a purpose in the grand scheme of things.

Making low-tier cunts having to pester you about making salutes to them is one of the highlights of mandatory military service.
It also ingrains pecking order into a solider real quick.

That's what I'm saying, it's why it's important even if it is annoying and not practical. Also those Soviet flags definitely are holdovers from Soviet units, would be weird if not. One army unit still had a swastika flag they got from the killing Indians days until the late two thousands when Obama and friends face fucked the entire military.

There was a british officer in operation market garden that would never run, not even under machine gun fire, because he saw it as cowardice and a bad example to his men. There is also Jack Churchill, who ran into the beaches of France armed with only a sword and a long bow.

When you're in command holding the infantry rifle only ends up being a distraction. While a scope of some sort would be important to him, it's easily a pair of binoculars carried on his chest or by his bodyguard(s).

Anything he could specifically shoot at, he could more easily command an entire rifle company to engage.

Get fucked, the hohols are accomplishing exactly what they wanted, and the Russians know this. They HAVE to send more troops from the front to guard a long ass border that they should've locked down Day 1. There will probably be more little raids like this and you guys will laugh and say you beat them because the Russians will post about how they "retook" the villages. They know they're being played, but if they don't send their few remaining healthy units to guard the border, there'd be genuine anarchy in the frontier oblasts because they'd know Putin can't even protect them. Love the spin you guys keep putting on this though, keep it up.

I thought about this strategy aswell but the raids should be very numerous to be effective and pretty consistent over time,
these will naturally be very dangerous missions with a high risk of death so the participation rate is not likely to be high
plus even assuming you only give your troops rifles you will still lose at least the vehicles you send in.
in the end, I don't think you will be able to use this strategy for long and/or it will be as much as costly as the one patrolling the borders,

              Anonymous

Everyone's talking about, which makes it highly effective. It's all about information space at this point, Putin/Russia has egg on their face every time a Ukrainian saboteur attacks them, meanwhile the Ukrainians/West shrug it off as a casualty of war when Russia detonates an entire Ukrainian stockpile of Nato weaponry, since they're already invaded anyways. Hard to convince your domestic and international audience you have the upper hand in a war when there's a global headline every other week about an attack occurring within what's supposed to be your secured territory.

For a suicide mission there's a distinct lack of corpses.
The video the Russians are sharing around, the bodies don't have any recognition tape on their uniforms when all shot footage of Russian Freedom Brigade shows them wearing yellow tape.

The leader of the Freedom of Russia Legion's (it's actually a group made up of Russian defectors being supplied by the Ukrainians) stated goal is to spark a mass uprising in Russia with the goal of overthrowing Putin. They cited reason for the need to remove Putin is the restrictive laws particularly around freedom of speech, his status as an indicted war criminal by the ICC, and his continues pattern of warmongering (Georgia, Chechnya, Moldova's Transnistria region, the covert invasion of Ukraine 8+ years ago, the current full-scale war in Ukraine).

Well, direct flights can't be booked between Russia and most of the world. Russian banks have been cut off from the SWIFT system. Sanctions are piling up and they are already having to trade with a handful of neutral parties under disadvantageous terms. They're tightening their border to keep eligible military aged males from fleeing the country. And they are quickly becoming China's bitch.
I'd say the are half way there. Honestly such things usually take years if not decades to develop so it's shocking Putin has come so far in little more than a year.

              >You mean between 10% of the world and Russia
I was talking about the issue with connecting flights. You can book a flight from Russia to certain international airports, but those airlines and the other airlines has been disconnected so you have to separately book those parts of the flight. Also you have to hope that everything is on time because if you are delayed in one part of the journey the other parts aren't obligated to reschedule you or compensate you in anyway if you miss a flight since they aren't part of the same booking passage.

              >Luckily for them they have their own internal system
Good for them I guess? You do realize the entire point of the SWIFT system is for international banking right? That's like saying "hah why should it matter the only boat off this island sank, I can still go anywhere on it in this car!". It makes international trade a pain in the ass.

              >And Russian economy is growing. Seems like sanctions weren't good enough
Sure it's growing, but not nearly as much as it should have. The sanctions weren't meant to be a death blow, just to kneecap them to slow their growth in the long term as a sort of continuous pressure.

              >You mean with 90% of the world that did not sanction Russia?
Your forgetting the 10% that did is half of what matters. Hell even Chinese tech companies are bowing to the sanctions since they don't want to get hit with secondary sanctions and lose the majority of their business.

              >Yeah, cheap plentiful energy to China and India is such a massive American geopolitical goal lmao
Our beef with China is more about IP issues, them being a few too many shades of authoritarian for our liking, and a recent expansionist wild hare. They are still a major trading partner. And why would India having cheap energy bother us? They are a strategic partner.

              >Name 1 thing China forced Russia to do
It's more about Russia begging China for help. China hasn't openly done much, yet, though.

this is the most delusional /k/ope I have ever read. They froze the Russian Central Bank's assets, which has not been done by any power to another since World War II, and then they froze every Russian bank out of SWIFT. They took literally unprecedented steps to try to destroy RUB, coupled with a total trade embargo.

Biden was bragging that the Russian economy would be halved that year. The only problem is the Germans and Dutch and Italians cucked and demanded exemptions for Russian energy, and then cucked again and agreed to pay for that energy in rubles. That bought enough time for the Russians to find other buyers. More worrying, the Chinese and Indians decided to ignore the sanctions and get some discount oil and gas.

The sanctions failed, which has terrible implications for the international order going forward, but trying to pretend "no they were just meant to be a slight handicap!!" is just dumb.

          How gay was Dedovshchina?

          https://www.vice.com/en/article/gqdx44/full-v13n4

Even in the savage world of dedovshchina, some forms of cruelty are so brutal that they can only be employed on rare, special occasions. Billiards is one of them. It consists of two parts: The ded first sticks a pool ball in the dukh’s mouth and then starts whacking it with a cue. At best, the dukh can expect some chipped teeth. At worst the game progresses to the anal level and everyone laughs while a teenager gets raped with a pool cue.

SOmething that's always bugged me about this whole "NATO puppet" argument for ukraine.

how does a few politicians, etc being switched over to "corrupt westerners" translate to literally HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of people in the streets, willing to die for a regime change (euromaidan)??? actual gunfire didn't even dissolve it

Not to mention, it was the second revolution in less than 10 years as the Orange Revolution was in '04.

how does a few corrupt officials turn into that? i have not once seen them actually try to explain this and it's something they constantly bring up

The funny part is that they didn't even bother to repaint the American desert camo paint scheme. This is gear that got left behind in Afghanistan. Russian special ops probably was able to buy it cheap from the Taliban. But fuck, you'd think that they'd have at least got a couple of privates with some spray paint to try to give it some semblance of Ukrainian camo patterns.

So Ukies lost 10,000-20,000 KIA in fall of Bakhmut and thought the best way to stick it to Le Putin was to conduct a suicide mission inside Russian territory knowing full well every single man would be killed and every single vehicle destroyed?

I used to see this Euro maps saying that average Ukie IQ was in the 80s, but couldn’t believe it. With this latest stunt, I’d be surprised if average IQ was over 85.

Russia is winning as they unironically want the banana shaped slice they have already taken. That's the land next to their most important shipping lines and full of natural resources. Russian leadership has hoped to get the war over with a lot quicker, probably wanted to take more, but they fulfilled their most important objectives already. Now it's just a waiting game until the economy of NATO gets bad enough that they fuck off.
