      >guy who supports the country that was communist for 70 straight years has the understanding of economics of a 14 year old communist
      Quelle surprise.
Here's a quiz for you: if you've turned your export market single buyer, and that single buyer is an economic rival, and you absolutely have to sell your product, what is the most likely result:
      a) you will make a great trade deal and make loads of money, because your rival is such a swell guy who can see the trouble you're in, or
      b) you are going to get your eyes ripped out in the worst and most extortionate trade deals in the history of trade deals.

Bonus question: when was the last time the Power of Siberia Pipeline turned a profit for Russia (hint: trick question, the answer is at no point in its operational history).

And here's another question for you: when Rosstat stops reporting on economic metrics impacted by the sanctions, with the reasonable explanation that it would be stupid to give the enemy an indication of what damage they are causing, and Rosstat then only releases data about economic metrics not impacted by sanctions and are completely open about this choice being the case, if you then take those metrics as evidence that the sanctions are not working, does that mean your IQ is 70 or 80?

The subject is the russian economy. The spectacular failures of your own elite in their choice to export your entire manufacturing to China, rendering you extremely vulnerable to increases in energy prices is both a tragedy and a farce, but has nothing to do with the fact that the russian economy is currently dying at a much greater speed than the rest of the world.

    >Took criimea already
    >Is still standing despite massive sanctions
    >Has sunk deep and invested in anyone who will trade with them, trades much more with china now
    >Will take the next chunk of ukraine soon
This was the obvious thing that was going to happen, did zoomers really believe that wars started and ended in 3 days? From the start russia and ukraine had different goals, the goal of ukraine was to hold on for as long as possible to make russia think twice about invading again, the goal of russia was to invade and take over. Ukraine could accomplish its objective while still losing the war so that's what's going to happen, all that matters now is how long they want to drag it out to deter russia from invading again soon. The longer they hold out the less russia wants to invade next time and the more they have to invest in it, otherwise russia could just take the whole of ukraine at once. For russia they just need to win, which they were always going to do anyway. There was never any chance for ukraine to win and no amount of underage / redditors will change this.

Basically most of nu-pol are a bunch of media-fed morons that can't actually tell what the intent is behind a country's actions unless the news tells them. It was always obvious that russia would eventually win, the question was how long and what would they do 10 years from now, invade again or just drop it?

      Anonymous

To add on to this, I will drop some information that is obvious to everyone here who isn't underage / low IQ / a redditor, war isn't about big military wins or amazing tactical maneuvers or having a positive k/d or anything like that, it is a matter of logistics.
      Russia population - 140 million
      Ukraine - 40 million
Russia GDP per capita - 10,000 usd
      >Ukraine spent $5.9 billion on its military in 2021, less than one tenth of Russia's budget, according to SIPRI
Less than 1/3 of russia's population, roughly 1/3 of their GDP per capita, much worse economy and logistical capacity. Ukraine loses. Despite what reddit thinks Ukraine has already lost. Russia can fight a lot longer than them and with a lot more than them, Russia has also been spending more consistently on its military year after year. The money simply isn't there for ukraine, they cannot fix the problem of money and population overnight no matter what happens, even if they could they do not want to commit to winning the fight as hard as russia does, russia needs to take territory, ukraine needs to put up a good fight but still lose territory.
      It's over.
      Ukraine - 3,000 usd

        >Ukraine spent $5.9 billion on its military in 2021, less than one tenth of Russia's budget, according to SIPRI
you forgot the billions in weapons and financial aid they received from the west, without it they would collapse already

        Anonymous

but what is russia winning? even if they somehow managed to build the infrastructure to extract the natural resources from occupied territory (which are in artillery range), that still wouldn't offset the losses of foreign investment pulling out completely.
russia also cannot domestically produce the imports they were relying on, how are they going to fix this?

        >Is still standing despite massive sanctions
sanctions don't show massive effects over night, a country has a lot of inertia and can keep rolling for quite a while, but I would say even now we are already seeing quite significant effects.
when irreplacable parts start breaking down and industries start collapsing, what then? how is fricking around in ukraine going to help with this fact?
sure china exists, but i also wouldn't see it as a win being completely dependant on china after taking parts of ukraine.

          Anonymous

          >But what is russia wining?
          A small piece of ukraine
          >How are they going to fix this?
          They aren't.
Doesn't matter what they can do with the land, how much it costs them, anything of that nature, they'll win because they need to. They can't go home without a win after sinking so much into it. It might hurt their economy and long term position but short-term they can't take the huge loss of face that not winning the war would bring. They might lean on china's allies like India and south america more, the USA and europe have mostly neglected relations with the smaller / more impoverished countries that china has happily scooped up into its influence, Russia will piggyback on that and try to gain at least something from it.

Typical American with 0 attention span, obsessed with instant gratification. Russia has all the time in the world.
no meaningful military victories against an enemy a fraction of the size
They're about to take over the entirety of Donbas. They're sieging Bakhmut as we speak. Slavyansk and Kramatorsk are the last strongholds.
    is bleeding
Russia is entirely self sufficient. They produce their own food, oil, gas, etc... So much so, that they export it. Everything is projection that collapsing countries do, especially Germany, who's dependent on Russian gas and is going to go cold this winter.
ally Xi Jinping just kneeled to the USA
China's playing the long game, it won't attack the US or Taiwan. It won't fall for the US' provocations. They will keep strengthening their regional ties and frick up trade with you so bad, that the average US citizen is going to feel the pain and won't be able to tolerate all of the theft by their government anymore.

Yeah no, they're fricked beyond belief, and only someone with the understanding of economics of a 14 year old communist fails to see it.

      >Russia is entirely self sufficient
In food, oil and gas, yes.
The russian economy was genuinely autarkic during the soviet years. It was shitty, there were shortages, but they were completely self-sufficient. The rise in standard of living since the fall of the soviet union is 100% predicated on not being economically isolated from the west, and they've now gone full moron and become exactly that, but without the same autarkic economy they had during the soviet years.

Russia is dependent on foreign technology. One of the reasons that they are making no money selling gas to china is that the Kovykta fields in eastern siberia is not producing any, because they do not have the technology to extract it. The germans do.

Yes, Russia has all the time in the world, but will revert to soviet-era lack of prosperity, and will grow weaker than they have ever been before. Having enough food and energy for your own people makes you self-sufficient. It does not allow you to remain a player on the global stage.
