There are two types of owners
        >hyundai: it's shit, everyone knows it's shit, at least it's cheap to fix
        >bmw: it's shit, everyone thinks it's ok, it's fricking expensive to fix
People bought these because they looked fast and they were extremely cheap to maintain.
All korean cars were the same, I remember paying 30 euros for an after market aircon unit on some daewoo matiz.

          >People bought these because they looked fast and they were extremely cheap to maintain.
I miss pre-globalization Hyundai/Kia. Those cars were pretty plain but they were built for offensive driving to match how aggressive Korean drivers operate cars.

I need to see 70-ratio tires on 16 inch rims again. Maybe even 85 ratio tires on 15 inch tires. The old ones had massive wheel wells so they could totally run a high ratio A/T or M/T. Run over potholes and pedestrians with impunity, and for cheap.
          >mfw they pulled light truck axles and hubs from their commercial division and slapped it on a minivan to save costs

They're fine cars so long as you understand it's a fwd economy car made to look like a sports car. They're very practical due to the hatch. I had one as my first car. They're simple, reliable, adequate.

From my limited knowledge looking for a car three years ago, they are cheaper than scions.

It's neither based nor cringe. As everyone else has said, it's an economy car with some slants and a fake spoiler. From what I've seen on FB, they're incredibly cheap, so if it runs for a few years you're probably ahead.

its farely decent, comfie seats, nice stereo. suspension is a little stiff but its not uncomfortable, has lots of grip but will understeer suddenly when pushed too far
the V6 barely makes more power than the inline 4, neither engine runs super smoothly so their potential for tuning is a bit limited.

The I4 actually has more tuning potential than the V6, it's similar to Mitsubishi's 4G63 owing to Hyundai's partnership with them back in the day.

neat, struck me as a slightly crude engine
from what I gather the V6 has better torque but its extra weight is not so worth it

    >Tibby

Haha. Back in 2008-2010, I had three guys in my circle of friends who all drove Tiburons. One silver, one blue, and one black.

The silver one eventually got sold for a STi Hawkeye.

The blue one, I have no idea wtf ever happened to that guy. His Tibby was gutted with no stereo, random wires all over the interior, and insanely loud exhaust.

The black one eventually got sold for a 350Z. Then he totaled that drunk driving, drove his parents shitty old Camry for some years afterwards, then recently purchased a new Mazda CX-3.

I had an 03 v6 for 4 years. There aren't any huge failure points, but every component is generally unreliable. I replaced the alternator, power steering pump, starter, in addition to all normal wear items before the timing belt snapped with 25k on it (replaced at 90k when I got it). It has almost 70% of its weight on the front wheels and handles how you'd expect, no amount of grippy tires or suspension work will deal with the understeer, it just doesn't handle well. If you go manual there's a restrictor in the slave cylinder that I'd recommend removing asap and you'll need to stiffen the motor mounts to not have crazy wheel hip (pour polyurethane into a stock mount, you can Google how to do it right). It weighs more than you'd expect, and in modern terms it's as slow as a base Mazda 3 with 20-26 mpg depending on your driving habits (premium only).

Despite all the shit objective things I can say, I enjoyed it. It's laid back and comfy, light clutch and easy shifter. The leather was surprisingly high quality and the most comfortable seat of any car I've owned. Despite it's shit performance the v6 sounded nice and the crap handling made it feel like a rocket, you have to fight the torque steer when gassing it.

All in all a terrible car but had more soul than you'd expect.
