      They are $1300

Why does this shoe exist? What is the thought process, design philosophy, ideology, whatever, which led to this shoe?

      I want answers.

This is one of those Ronald McDonald oversized boat shoes that are still being made. A trend started by Kanye West with his release of the Yeezy Boost 700 "wave runner" (top pic) in 2017. The shoe was a smash hit and led to many other designers releasing their own oversized sneakers that look liked some type of water craft. Personally I think the boat shoe trend peaked with Balmain’s release of the Unicorn aka the "Big Yachts" (bottom pic)

I’d never cop this one, Balenciaga does seem to have some okay-ish low tops tho and, they are the only recommended high tier low tops brand from the sticky that exists in my third world shithole so I might cop one one day sadly (yeah, no Dick Ovens or Raf here sadly…)

Is it an experiment at this point? To see how ugly you can make a status symbol and still have people buy it?

If you’re still thinking it’s about "scamming rich people with ugly stuff" then you’re philosophically about 20 years behind fashion and there’s no need for your commentary here

Did I say "scamming rich people with ugly stuff?" No. I said it seems like an experiment to determine the extent of the effect that perceived value has on the mind. Like, you can get people to engage in class warfare by releasing clown shoes. That is fascinating.

demna has basically ruined the aesthetic of balenci. They always do the same stupid low-effort shit like vetements and erd, covering their shi in branding because theyre still caught up in the hype-beat/flexing act. this recent collection is a prime example of demna solely relying on marketing and the dumbasses whoi flex balenciaga to buy this horseshit
