boomers cant hang with the new shit and think all rock should sound like abcd and lead zeppelin like its 1970

No, they don't think rock music should sound like led zeppelin (although obviously there are people like that), they just have listened a wide range of things and able to retrieve more or less what has actual musical value and what has not.

LULZ is overly cynic and also pretentious and can be right criticising this album by accident. But in this case the lack of real substance is glaring

i agree, im just gonna stick with the shorter tracks on this one
their previous projects were way more concise. although a few songs on as lost through collision overstayed their welcome too

This album is all the proof you need that rock music is dead— tired conceptual “epic” noise rock, with long winded self deprecating lyrics. BCNR did it in 2021, Daughters did it in 2018, Swans did it for the past 40 years. It’s fine if you enjoy it, but it’s a further testament that the genre is just repeating all of the same ideas over and over again.

just because of this post. I'm giving it a zero.

I did reasonably enjoy one of the long tracks, but none of this album actually feels fresh or vital. It's like a generic archetype of the sprawling, angsty experimental rock record - just blurring together recognisable shit from all these different bands without a distinctive voice of its own.

I'm not nearly as cynical and pessimistic as the other half-witted, tryhard, contrarian posters in this thread. I'll give any new rock music a shot as long as it's free from any and all references to modern leftist ideology, and so far this is sounding pretty good.

This trend is getting fucking annoying
    >New album comes out, RYM shits and cums and rates it 5/5 en masse claiming it's the new modern classic
    >Gets to the top of the charts
    >People are curious, give it a listen
    >It's fine
    >Rating falls off a cliff
    >Fantano, three weeks late to the party, releases a review
    >Ratings stabilize to the normal 3.6-3.7 every hyped releases gets

Everyone seems to be shitting on this record here, dunno I liked their first 2 albums they were pretty neat, sure the debut EP is pure Duster/Codeine worship and the debut LP is Unwound worship but they're alright, did they change their style for the worse that much or is it just an anti-rym hateboner?

They changed it big time. Completely different direction.

      You mean stuff like this?

      ?t=24

      ?t=138

      ?t=14

      ?t=58

      ?t=75

yeah shouted lyrics in this monologue form are not as musical as these bands think they are

Yeah it feels like this kind of stuff's been overdone to death and it doesn't even sound particularly good

You could do this once on a gimmick song, but if your whole style is this kind of spoken word / shouted monologue, it gets boring fast.

One of the reasons I can't get into the Fall. Sure the music is occasionally interesting, I like a few songs, but lack of a singer actually singing puts me off their music. And why I can't stand Rollins's barked lyrics either.

        Anonymous

yeah but without judging those songs musically, most got a story to tell or something to be communicated and some music going along, this album screams hear me but then you find out he is just masturbating himself

I don't have favourite arts and albs.
          I just like some songs.

Which is to say it will never die?

But it won't be alive either. It'll be like an incarnated ghost that still haunts the place. The healthy meaty stuff is gone.

A healthy, meaty, formidable rock album just came out a few months ago. You're just unaware of the good stuff.

I disagree and don't think it's 'revivalist.' Not all of the album sounds the same or is in the traditional rock vein. Good you checked it out though.
