When LULZcore first became a thing it was literally a guide to help newcomers acquaint themselves with entry-level classics that fell within the culture of the board because at the time we had a strict no normie policy. If you wanted to be a mutant you were expected to do your homework
>LULZcore >it's literally, provably, and obviously just made up of the exact albums Pitchfork gave good scores to when it was still relevant
the very idea of LULZcore is embarrassing. it's 2000s p4kcore.
Pitchfork was a highly influential and infamous music publication at the time that could literally make or break an underground artist which would regularly be the center of contentious debate on our board. Whether you liked it or not It was unavoidable so of course they were gonna get massive representation on the chart. And rightly so because the attitude at the time was if you're not all caught up on that crap than why are you even here?
because you just like the classics and fans of those genres seethe that you don't give a chance to some obscure(and not that obscure) albums that are just as good as the classics
why do people on LULZ care more about their taste in music than they do the music itself?
But…they’re taste involves caring about the music.

I’m tired of people pretending there’s something wrong with this.
I mean, I posted my chart in the general, it's the second one. Theoretically I have some established tastes in electronic, but probably I'm gonna be trashed for shit taste.
Anyways, I see nothing wrong with having only surface level listens to secondary genres. Also nothing wrong with liking populat stuff.
there's nothing wrong with liking the popular stuff but if that's all you know then you shouldn't really be on a board for music enthusiasts and musicians
I'm here to learn more, I just generally feel antipathy towards beginners is not helpful in general discussions, but then again, I'm a beginner here, so maybe my perspective will change once I grow my tastes.
I always like to explore new stuff, I might have found things that I prefer (classical especially modern, stuff with folk influence, jazz, and "experimental" electronic like musique concrete, drone, ambient, etc.), but I would never limit myself to a single genre like metal heads and poptimists.
At what age did you stop seething about LULZ core?

So? Theres some good stuff on it
no shit, sherlock. these are some of the most acclaimed albums of their time. my point is that calling it LULZcore is an embarrassing misnomer

around 18 is when I had listened to enough "classics" to know which genres I wanted to explore deeper
to be fair older LULZcore charts had p4kcore sections so they obviously acknowledge that
At what age did you grow out of music? having time to listen to 500 albums a week is peak being either a neet, teenager or gig filtered drummer
I have listened to so many of the fucking albums on this list
Have I really been so twisted by LULZ over the last 10 years that I have confused taste dictated here for my own
I haven't even listened to even half of these
I usually just stick to few of my favorite genres instead of trying to be diverse
I graduated LULZ-u with a PhD in genre tourism
I let genres tour me, asian ones pay extra for photos
I tour genres that I don't care that much for and dig deeper into the ones I like.
It's not an issue to do at first especially when you're discerning what genres you like.
why is genre tourism bad again?

The hell is genre tourism? Genuine question from LULZ newfag.
Only listening to the surface level critically acclaimed albums of many different genres without digging deeper and finding your own taste
Am I supposed to just ignore the genres I don't have time to deep dive into?

Never.
Hellfire is still the best prog rock album btw
Not with that 2nd half it isn't. I'd take Schlagenheim or Cavelcade as their best imo
