Ask a Christian

A bit about me:
I was raised Catholic, became an atheist when I got out of high school, and I then turned to God. I was in a bad place and I used drugs to chase the depression away. One day I had run out of money and weed. I didn't know what to do so I figured that I would take a walk.

With every step that I took, a sinful act was called to mind. I remembered treating people miserably and many other things that I wasn't proud of. Eventually these sins felt like a weight that I could not bear. I stopped walking and prayed right where I was. I cried out to God. It had been years since Catholic school and I didn't know what to say.

I prayed and said, "God...Jesus...I don't know if you exist...and if you do...I don't know why you would listen to me. But if you do exist...you can see the pain that I'm in. If you help me I will worship you and devote myself to you forever.

I meant those words and, as soon as I had said that prayer, I felt all the weight of sin being lifted off of me. I felt an indescribable feeling of peace, joy, and love. Then God spoke to me and said "I loved you even when you turned your back on me and I still love you. I don't condemn you." I felt myself returning to normal and that perfect bliss began to leave. I cried out again and begged God not to leave. He told me, "I am with you always".

I know this will be asked so I'll address it.
- I was sober. I had not touched anything that would alter my mind.
- I say that God "spoke" but it wasn't like hearing something. It was like pure thought. The verb "perceived" would be a better fit than "spoke".
- Its the KJV only. No swapping of bible versions. God has preserved His Word. If you can speak English read the KJV.

So if you have any questions at all about God or about the bible, feel free to ask.

If you are hispanic, how do you rationalize your trespasses with your faith?

      Anonymous

I am indeed Hispanic although I'm not sure what that has to do with it. Care to elaborate?

      >how do you rationalize your trespasses with your faith?
I don't. To rationalize my own sin seems like a very warped view of what it means to serve God and to walk in His Light.

      Rationalize
      - To explain rationally.
      - To explain or justify (one's behavior) with incorrect reasons or excuses, often without conscious awareness.
To dismiss or minimize the significance of (something) by means of an explanation or excuse.

The fact of the matter is that I'm a human being. I'm saved, not because of my good works, but because I believe. Salvation is a free git from God. Even if it was something that you could pay for, there would not being enough gold in the earth to purchase a place in God's kingdom. So my answer is that I don't rationalize my sins. I ask for forgiveness and I repent from my sins as best as I can. But there are some sins that stay with you for life. Its a part of having this corrupt flesh. In scripture, one of the apostles mentions that a messenger of Satan was sent to buffet (to hit) him. Even if you didn't sin, you would be lifted up in your own pride, which is a sin. So its good that a believer is occasionally abased and brought low that he may remember that every precious thing is a gift from God.

part of mortal sin is having full knowledge of what exactly you are doing (basically, knowing it is wrong and still choosing to do it anyways). Now if anon here knew about Mark 3:29 or all the other verses that warn against blaspheming the Holy Spirit then yes he is going to hell. But if he didn't know well I don't know that is up to God. And the only reason I can definitely say anon is going to hell is because that is exactly what Jesus Christ teaches with Mark 3:29.

I'm no longer a Catholic, friend. I was placed in a Catholic school as a child. I didn't get the chance to say no but I did get a quality education. Once I matured in God's word I came to the truth of it being KJV only.

How does that work though? Isn’t he already permanently doomed to Hell? If he can be forgiven for it, then it’s not an eternal sin. Just one of the many logical paradoxes in Christianity.

        ETERNAL sin

you can't get rid of that shit

Blaspheming against the Holy Ghost is deep. This is a gift to you both. The Spirit is moving. I would listen if I were you.

        John 14:15-17 (KJV)
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

The Comforter? The Spirit of truth? Who's that?

        John 14:26 (KJV)
“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of truth. What blasphemes against the Holy Ghost is the LIE. That doesn't mean that you're free to blaspheme against the Holy Ghost. Its about the lie that is in you.

Who was a liar from the beginning? Who is the father of all lies? That old serpent CALLED THE DEVIL AND SATAN.

        John 8:44 (KJV)
“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”

If you don't abide in the truth you're lost. So what is the truth? Let's go back to basics?

        John 14:6 (KJV)
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

And there is your answer. If you don't believe in Jesus Christ then you're condemned already. Your very existence is blaspheming against the Holy Ghost because you choose to dwell in the lie.

That is the dumbest nagger shit I’ve ever heard. This is about the ETERNAL SIN. You’re saying that not believing in Jesus is an unforgivable sin, meaning that all born again Christians are doomed to Hell.

            OP

I'd like to add that I'm not certain what you mean by a "born-again" Christian.

Some people think they're saved because they came down to the altar, cried, and said a prayer. Everyone who is TRULY saved not only has a powerful transformative experience but they BEAR FRUIT. You see who they are by their WORDS and ACTIONS.

Being born-again is biblical. Let's break it down.

            John 6:37-40 (KJV)
37All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. 38For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. 39And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Verse 37: "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out."

Read that very carefully. Its the Father that brings you to the Son. Once you're saved, you've been born again. Its evident in the rest of the excerpt that I've posted.

            RIP

If he continues in his way then he will never rest.

OP... Let me break this down as simply for your caveman brain as possible.
Eternal sin = the sin that can never be forgiven
Eternal sin (according to your dumb ass) = Not accepting Christ
So if someone, at any point in their existence doesn’t accept Christ, they’re committing an unforgivable sin, thus any converts or anyone whose faith has ever wavered is going to Hell no matter how much they repent. That’s not the case, of course, but that IS what YOU are saying, because you’re an armchair theologian who doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Don’t reply to this, just accept defeat.

                OP

                >Eternal sin (according to your dumb ass) = Not accepting Christ

I was merely trying elucidate what it means to blaspheme against the Holy Ghost. If you haven't been saved then you're condemned already. That's SCRIPTURE and scripture is very deep with layers of meaning. It was my mistake in trying to educate you on a deep topic. Instead, it seems that I have created confusion. If that's the case, I apologize. I will do my best to clean up after myself.

If a person believes in Jesus Christ and is saved they are given eternal salvation. This is basic. But what it means to blaspheme the Holy Ghost also has to do with man's nature.

Read the parable of the wheat and the tares. There is a part of you that blasphemes against the Holy Ghost. There is a part of every man that loves the world. That's why the parable of the wheat and the tares says that they should not be rooted up because they have grown together. They're joined. It has to do with the corruption that took place in the garden of Eden. This will be the last I write to you since you have not treated me as a brother in Christ. I will not regard you as one.

                Matthew 7:6 (KJV)
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

You did not read my post. I posted answers to questions that I frequently hear. The questions are relevant to being a Christian.

      >Some kind of weird shill post.
I don't see how this is a shill post. There are shills throughout the site but they're usually talking about degenerate things like pornography or they have some kind of political motivation. What worldly thing can I possibly gain from answering people's questions? My shift is over. I can go afk but I'm choosing to answer people's questions of my own volition.

      >It’s not even the oldest or most accurate translation.
You're in error. You can't perceive God's word using carnal thinking. Neither are older manuscripts the most accurate. God can do anything. Why would he leave his words to scholars? God's word was preserved in English. English is the most common language spoken throughout the world (because of the internet). Even the Chinese learn English.

English is only the lingua Franca NOW. That may very well change in a century or two. Greek was the lingua franca when the New Testament was written. That’s why the Evangelists wrote it in Greek, and why the oldest, most direct translations of the original Greek are the most accurate. The KJV was written by Protestants.

To be honest, dude, I used to be a very angry person. It took God to take that away from me. As for who I worship, I worship the Almighty God. Emmanuel means "God with us". It was a prophecy about the birth of Jesus Christ. All other gods are false.

People's anger should show you how much the evil ones hate God (the true God, the living God). If Christianity is a religion then why are people so upset? This world loves lies. It always has and it always will. So whenever people speak about the truth that is in the Lord Jesus Christ, you can expect people to get enraged.

Keep in mind, when I use the term "Christian" I'm referring to true believers. I'm not referring to your politicians or mega church pastors that use faith to manipulate people.

Not at all. Unless you're born again you don't enter into the kingdom of God. That's basic scripture. Belief in Jesus Christ is a prerequisite for being born-again. If you don't understand then you need to return to the basics of scripture. This is like Sunday school basic.
