Vietnam/Korean era/style green button-up shirts. They’re aesthetic as heck, and go well with any alt/punk aesthetic.

There’s hardly any real vintage surplus, even from the 80’s, left since it’s been sold and resold over and over again. All you’re going to find are "antique militaria collectibles", in sizes too small for any normal person, with highly questionable provenance, being sold for antique militaria collectible prices. The days of going in and finding a rack of real WW2 field jackets for $3.50 are long, long gone, probably ended while your parents were kids for all I know.
I’ve been in this trade for longer than some of you shitstains have even been alive, and that’s accounting for the time you spent as your gay daddy’s jizz in his shriveled up balls so don’t @ me zoomer stupids.

There’s probably not even a real army surplus store left since they shut down from lack of real surplus, their geriatric owners actually hecking died, and there is currently no active war so no demand from their primary clientele. They’ve been on the decline for decades now, and corona probably took out every last one that didn’t know how to use the internet, not like those were doing too hot either.

They hardly have those anymore either. The foreign surplus market is depleted as well since:
          >no/very few countries that sold surplus have conscription anymore
          >these also tend to be developed european nations that slashed their military budgets too
          >random 3rd world shitholes destroy their uniforms so terrorists, insurgents, cartels, and other criminals don’t use them to impersonate the security forces
          >said developed countries would rather send their old outdated junk to 3rd world countries or ukraine as a gesture of goodwill, and also to prevent domestic terrorists at home from using it

Several european nations have already had multiple cycles of equipment changes over the last 10-20 years. Every single time, a tiny trickle makes it onto the civilian market and it is snapped up almost as quickly as it arrived, and never at "surplus" prices either. The age of surplus has been over for decades now.

I went to a military surplus store and the only clothes were BDUs with holes (mostly digicam garbage), and hideous MAGA tees

Yeah that’s a good 99% of them nowadays. Most don’t even sell proper surplus anymore, just made in china repro str8 outta ali express, or rothco if they’re feeling high end.

I live in a hecking base town and the surplus stores have been closing left and right. Hell, I have better luck buying surplus, even modern tacticool gear, at the hecking goodwill.

      >heavy old style camo jackets eg Belgian M56, Norwegian M75, British P68, Swiss 70s Alpenflage etc

      Nothing else.

This sort of, in Europe at least we get the occasional good piece but mostly it’s just GWOT ripstop crap now. Generally the smaller and more out of the way the store the better, I got some of my best bits from Gypos on the road side and tiny shops.

      >No demand from their primary clientele
Soldiers don’t buy from "surplus" stores, they buy from military supply stores. Surplus stores sell old shit militaries don’t use anymore.

Happens a lot in bongistan also, except we get stupid "infidel" etc boomer shirts that only cringy meth addicted larpers wear. That or they sell gear exclusively for "cadets" which usually means low quality/issue equipment for way too much money to convince a dumb 14 yearold that he is ally as heck.

Okay I yield to that one case. But otherwise I don’t think active service use surplus stores unless they’re absolute hecking mongos (which I suppose a lot are tbf)

            >active service use surplus stores unless they’re absolute hecking mongos
Being an complete mong is practically a requirement to be in the service.

      depends on where you live.
if you’re near a base then the surplus store will have plenty of genuine surplus from people mustering out, plus whatever the supply techs smuggle out.
there do be a whole lot of cheap Rotchco garbage mixed in tho.

lol they’re clean out of interesting modern stuff since afghanistan is over. I mean you’ll still get a trickle from people leaving, but it tends to be snapped up just as quickly by people still in. There’s common garbage like ACU/MARPAT/NWU/etc. but unless you were still in the service why the heck would you want that? I got some genuine afghan stuff from the store in the months after the airport evacuations but it wasn’t like there was a heckton. Other collectors nationwide reported the same thing: a tiny uptick in the last half of 2021 of Afghan stuff the boomer store owner can’t ID, then nothing by December.

Yeah, you overpay for the shit that has no historical value to subsidize my museum piece addiction. We hate each other, but it works

I’m seconding the M65 field jacket. Flecktarn is also an /fashion/ pattern. But don’t pay too much, this stuff is very overpriced IRL, check on /k/ as they have some good storefronts like kommandostore and sell stuff for a bit cheaper. But even they have jackets and coats for 60+ which is ridiculous

    • Anonymous says:

      >good storefronts like kommandostore
kommandostore is overpriced shit – there are a million better online stores for surplus.

      • Anonymous says:

I got a flecktarn shirt there for like 20 bucks which I think is decent. But they do definitely have a lot of overpriced shit too so excuse me if I was a shill for a terrible site if there are better out there

lmao you can always tell who feels natural in their surplus gear vs the gays who are using it to play dress up

      I’ve always gone by
      >if you can’t back it up
      >don’t rep it
Simple as. Funny how this simple idea generates the most asshurt of anything on /fashion/.

I should probably go back again sometimes for a wool overcoat, they’re great for autumn / winter.
Too bad my current milsurp store is kinda dry in their stock and is also under construction.
