Archery season has been upon us for a month now in most states. Gun season for deer is just around the corner. Are you going rifle hunting this year /misc/?
Saving money by hunting is a viable strategy to save money.
This is political because finances are important.
Dust your rifle off. Oil it up and make sure its sighted correctly.
What's the point of hunting if you're gonna go buy meat from the supermarket anyways. Hunting is immoral as you're not really doing it for the meat you get out of it you're doing it because you think it's fun killing animals you psychopath
No. I do it because it saves money. And is likely more humane than these mega farm bred animals.
You do you.
Saving money? Just work a better job. Or is the “saving money” aspect that thrilling?
Why not work a better job AND save more money?
So you know you have problems. Do you hunt with anybody else? How many people?
Only grandpa, but he's actually pretty sick these days and probably won't last long so I don't think we'll be going this season. Why is it a problem to make more money and also save more money? Must we consume product in order to be normal?
Yes anon. Saving money. I can get 300 lbs of meat for roughly 27$ and a little time.
Im sorry youre such a pansy that you dont undersrand the circle of life. Id rather give these animals an instant death. And have much healthier meat that the hormone ridden shit that you call meat.
My ancestors were hunters, your ancestors were shit scoopers and pig farmers.
I know the land and it’s wildlife better than you ever will, what you don’t understand is that you still go to a damn city with a store. You pompous homosexual.
Lol how could you possibly know who my ancestors were? Did you forget the meme flag?
Only one race puts using a gun on a pedestal
Are you implying i dont use a bow? My bow season has ended. I harvested a doe, with an english longbow of all things.
Gun season is and always will be the most effective time to harvest deer, and appeals to the widest audience of hunters.
But thats alrite, you just go ahead and kvetch about your trail of tears or whatever other atrocity.
God bless anon.
Found the injun getting drunk in the middle of the day and shitposting on LULZ. They have internet on the reservation?
Actually they mostly don't lol. They still live in the stone ages.
>t. lived in reservation for 6 years
The only thing I hate more than feathernaggers is naggers.
Imagine getting this aggressive and saying so much bullshit just because someone challenged your faggy point. You talk shit about hunting and then say "muh ancestors were better hunters than yours." This place is full of such monumental homosexuals I hate it more every day.
Hes just a salty wiener contrarian. I doubt hes anything but a white fag or eglin afb mexican diversity hire.
The beaty of the internet, is that you can be a massive homosexual and nobody will know who you really are.
How does it save you money? Everywhere you go charges you to hunt and the processing plant takes away any savings you have after that. Unless you process it yourself, it probably isn't going to save you much of anything. Of course if you have your own land and the ability to process it yourself you will do very well. But I would just assume raise some sheep on a couple of acres as own 100 acres of wildland for hunting.
We got ourselves a city slicker here boys. Nobody charges us to hunt, we find our friends and neighbors who have farmland to hunt on, and we process the meat ourselves. All we pay for are tags and bullets, which are cheap enough when you can get 60+ pounds of meat out of it.
>charges you to hunt
I own 60 acres wooded land
Public land is free
>processing plant
3 hours to butcher my own animal. Thats alone.
If my brother and dad are involved we can get a deer done in 45 min.
Bullets, the ammunition i use are roughly 1.50-1.60 per round.
The orange vest and har cost me $25
A yearly license is $25 here with 2 tags. Extra tags are $10 a piece.
So realistically because id likely be in the woods chopping up old trees. Im spending that time collecting wild game instead.
Ive owned all my gear since i was 18 so its not like it hasnt paid itself off. And ive stocked ammo for a lifetime. 1-2 rounds for deer. A deer is maybe 100lbs meat.
3 deer per gun season.
Meat for a year easy. Under 50 dollars.
A good roast costs almost that much and thats 2 days of food for 2 people.
Its definately cost effective.
How much hunting trip cost?
About $5 in gasoline. Plus ammo and tags. Public land oll over in the US or ask to hunt farmland or have your own, private land if possible.
I excepted it to cost thousands, but I guess it's much easier if you live in more rural area where it close
Realistically you just purchase tags for your sarrounding area, and then drive out there. Tags arent usually more than 30$
Its the destination hunts you see on tv like a guy from boston goes to colorado or AK to hunt eldk or bear. Thats when it gets expensive. For most its not really. People just get gaslit easily by reality tv.
You should not. You should hunt spics coming across the border on your "yearly deer hunt" . Dumb fuckin fuck. Those shit skins are stripping nature as we speak. You have a responsibility.
Im not driving a thousand miles south so i can have border patrol scold me for shooting subhumans anon. Im just gunna remain comfy in my white community. Its too cold for spics up here. And theres no work for them.
You should be hunted and skinned for sport and have your head stuffed and put on display as a warning of the consequences of homosexualry
>Hunting is immoral
What?
99+% of all life the earth has ever known was eaten alive or died of starvation, thirst, exposure, or disease. You have a very soft and unrealistic view of life.
Hunting is way more ethical than fucking factory farming.
I kill bucks so deer don't kill people..almost 60k people are injured in collisions with deer every year and ~500 die. I will occasionally eat venison, but the purpose of my hunt is to kill/cull
The meat tastes entirely different and it's healthy. America has a huge hunting tradition too, good excuse to have guns too so government leaves us alone.
It blows my mind that people even bother arguing with these 1pbtid bot shills that are just here to be contrarian. Misc has been shit lately but it's been extra shit these last few weeks. I think the israelite tripled down after normies started seeing them for what they are.
retarded homosexual
yeah hunting and eating an animal which has led a good, free life is so immoral compared to buying meat from an enslaved-from-birth farm animal pumped full of hormones and forced into a tiny living space.
And you wonder why your people are dying out and replaced by shitskins.
>Hunting is immoral as you're not really doing it for the meat you get out of it you're doing it because you think it's fun killing animals you psychopath
you think factory farms are humane retard? take your head out of the sand. most people, at least White people, who hunt do it humanely. One lethal shot and the animal is dead within 0-10 seconds. factory farming is a short lifetime of misery and suffering you dirty filthy rat.
buying meat from a mechanized farm is farm more immoral than hunting. stomping right on a cats head and crushing it to dead is less immoral than factory farm meat and anyone that says otherwise has never see these places first hand. dumb people need video evidence of things, describing it means nothing because NPCs cant imagine things vividly. (imagine an apple, etc)
look at videos of it if you must. I actually started buying "organic" or paying attention to where my meat comes from after seeing pig slaughter houses in Georgia. it was horrifying. they are basically tortured their entire lives, and fed actual garbage. not food waste. garbage. and then they are walked through a chute into a little area where they are killed over a river of blood and shot in the head with a captive bolt. I thought I was pretty hard before that, but even I left feeling pretty shocked. Stupid people get mad about muh animal cruelty against mutts, oohhh nooo not the wooferino tied to a treeee! then ignore animals much smarter than mutts being tortured their whole lives and fed raw garbage. there would be lawsuits out the ass if a stupid dog were treated half this bad. but the pig torture isnt right in front of you in a tik tok video, so nobody give a fuck. i hate this gay earth.
>stomping right on a cats head and crushing it to dead is less immoral than factory farm meat
meow?
He should kill israeli Animals.
the thrill
Lol. When society collapses this retard will be one of the first to die. Lol.
>all the replies conceding that they won't use the meat
native americans hunting was full of soul, white people hunting is just greedy israeliteery
stop with the noble savage fallacy libtard
I unironically agree.
>Native American
>Soul
Whites dump pesticides and harmful chemicals into the environment to this day. You never deserved it.
shut up retard. hunting is always for the meat the trophy is secondary.
Just sighted in my Remington model 74- 30.06. New Vortex Viper 6-24 x 50. I'm ready.
How to learn to hunt without knowing someone else that does it? Id like to but its kinda not easy to figure out where to go and all that without a guide it seems.
I have a compound bow and use it but never on an animal yet.
animals are retarded you can do it anon
Depending where you live it may be more difficult to find land. But really, for gun in most of the midwest and wooded areas of the east, you look up public access land. 99% of it you can hunt but you may have to deal with other hunyers as well.
Alternatively you can buy a plat book and figure out who owns what. Like a farmer with a fallow lot or wooded area. Call them up and ask to hunt. They may ask to lease or just say yes. Many will say no because other hunters have already done the same.
Once youve figured out what to do in this regard, if youre going white tail hunting youll need a rifle and a gun license which often comes with an antlerless tag(doe, or buck with no percieveable antlers) and a buck tag.
Then you get yourself some blaze orange, like a vest that fits over your warm jacket and an orange hat. And find a spot in the woods you think youre likely to see them.
This might be places like game trails, places with lots of droppings or antler rubs.
Be careful about scent. If you need help learning how to clean the animal after youve shot it theres a million youtube videos. Meat eater has many. And if you need help butchering after youve gotten it home theres lots of vids on that too.
I hope i was helpful anon
Should note everything ive talked about here applies to bow except you typically wont use orange clothing. And make sure you get a good broadhead. Blood tracking and shot placement are very important with bow.
Try to control your excitement when you see something. Its not easy for many.
Ive put lots of deer in my freezer and every single one of them has made me shakey from the adrenaline dump.
Make sure to thank whatever god you have for the success if you have it.
You should not hunt now. From a hunter. You should buy a cow from a local farmer and use your hunting season to clandestine kill insurgents from Mexico.
Nothanks fed. Im good.
As the other anon so elequently put, animals are retarded, and we've evolved to hunt them for eons. Go to your local outdoor store that isn't rei, and get yourself a copy of the game regs. Look up how to get a hunting license in your state, you can get one in many states online. Then you need to get your game tags. Oftentime part of getting your license ia going through a class on hunting, again it may be online.
You have to take a hunting class to get license anyway so you can meet people then and ask questions but truthfully nobody knows how, they just try to be safe and have fun in da woods looking for animals a lot more than shooting them, it's a hunt all year looking around and planning for that weekend you might go and try to actually shoot one of the animals you saw another time
You could take a hunters education course. Although hunting on your own the first time could be a little empty.lband you'd probably get more out of it going with someone you trust or is knowledgeable.
Go buy a whole cow from a local farmer. Seriously. Best choice. Get gun to kill israelites/spics/naggers
I live in a pretty cool area in Michigan. I could just shoot out my windows to get them, but I like having them around. Haven't shot one yet, but the coyotes get one every now and again.
You could. Youd be breaking the law though.
Im not your dad though i wont tell you what to do.
>You could. Youd be breaking the law though.
say what? nearly every deer that me and my brothers have shot over the past 15 years has been on our own land, perfectly legal, retard.
I was under the impression you were doing it in the city, without tags. My bad.
Can you shoot the coyotes instead
Coyotes aren’t as retarded as deer are so you’ve got to bait them and wait. Deer will just stroll in whenever
we got some massive size coyotes in california and I have never seen a pack of them pull down a deer let alone one.
the females are small but the males look like wolves almost. or a hybrid of them.
sideways deer make great bbq
There is no closed season for coyotes where I live, no bag limit, and I can hunt them with picrel
I hunt with my brother in california's los padres national forest and people look at me like i am crazy when I tell them that.
Its actually hard to hunt in chaparral forests though.
I like upland game the most, mountain quail breasts are pretty delicious.
it's comical af up here in Berkeley area near Oakland Hills. they just walk so freely. daytime too. Im sitting in my car near the campus eating a lunch and one just walks up to me wanting the greens in my sanwich. cute af but they stink to high hell.
and they just walk out in front of traffic which is better than dodging out in front of you going freeway speeds. you can stop a lot easier. I always push my car up close to them and lay into the horn to get them to fear the cars. people stop and take photos like they're fucking tourist.
turkeys got lose from a turkey farm 15 years back and they're all over San Pablo avenue. fucking turkeys I'll run over if no one was looking. they're so fucking stupid
I’ve got one in my sights.
We ended up just making friends with each other, will not kill this dude, but something else probably will soon, as chill as he is.
He looks very soft, imagine how cozy it would be to skin him and sew his hide to the inside of your jacket hood.
Already have coyote fur hood, and rabbits around here are often not too tasty, although that’s more likely in spring. This dude getting fat on corn, might be ok now.
He mocks you like bugs bunny does elmer fudd, we laugh also, but he is fur fren now
I don't eat meat so there wouldn't be any point. Sounds fun though.
Thanks fpr being reasonable anon.
Best wishes fren.
Quick reminder, since humans killed all large predators in the USA almost, it's up to us to hunt the deer. If we dont kill them weird new diseases will start popping up to kill them.
the human race has the same problem
So with super markets the animal is already dead.
You feel good from randomly killing animals so you need to be shot by a real hunter.
Man the homosexual shitpost police must have the day off.
You’re the biggest homosexual here for thinking hunting is some hobby like baseball. Go suck their dicks and clean their rifles if you love fellow “hunters” that much.
At no point is hunting a hobby dummy. Its part of life.
Times change, you want to role play as a “real man” because you live in butt fuck nowhere and go to the city for gas still.
Nature should be growing with the pig farmers but losers like you can’t shake this shit.
Lol what the hell are you even saying?
Fun bait though ill give it that.
Cope you fucking prick. I ever see that shit wagon rusted from blood I’ll slash the tires. Keep it hidden.
White 1999 f150 crew cab with firestone tires. Somewhere in upper michigan.
Good luck.
You're real smart threatening a guy who you positively know has firearms.
These things slather themselves up in baby oil to hide their scent from zogged up city animals with generations of lead and pesticide poisoning.
>Are you going hunting this year pol?
yep. going Monday and will be sleeping in my vehicle at my favorite spot near my city. also will hit up my cottage later (1/2th plot of land) for Elk.
What is that Tikka chambered, Leupold power?
I do have a tikka t3x lite in 7mm but that's actually my budget 308 Browning package. came with a Leopold scope. nice bang for the buck at 1099CAD all in. 308 ammo is affordable for target too. I hardly use my tikka in the bush anymore. I prefer the 308 to the 7mm. I take the tikka for moose trips up north as it works better in -15C to -30C should it get that cold
Back of the bolt looked like a Tikka, forgot about the Browning X. Funny how many of the budget rifles will outshoot the high dollar shit. Mass production has come a long way.
The 308 is superior to the 7mm imo. however there's no doubt the tikka has a smoother feed, Superior design with both ergonomics structure and feel to it. but that's actually an ab3 not the Browning x. it's a perfect Bush gun and I'm not going to cry if it gets snowed or rained on.
>The 308 is superior to the 7mm imo
Your opinion is wrong though.
price per performance ratio isn't worth the money for the miniscule performance increase on the 7 mm. I can buy Federal dear 175 grain ammo for $40 CAD and it'll perform almost as nice as the hornady 7 mm premium. 180 for 80+ CAD. Target rounds are even cheaper on a 308 or reload. so 308 is the gun that I use the most when I go moose hunting I'll take the tikka 7 mm out.
The increase in BC is significant. Money is not an issue for me and shouldn't even be a consideration for a hunting rifle. Also, there is a ton of "7mm" out there. 7mm-08, which is what I use for stag, 7x64 which is what I use for chamois and ibex etc. I'm assuming you are talking about 7mm rem mag, which, ironically, is the worst of the bunch due to the shitty belt and the long action.
>7mm-08
most enthusiasts compare the 308 to the -08. that's what I read referring to ya. I'm not broke or anything close to it I just think that it's a waste of money for bringing your gun into the bush and shooting some deer. the 308 is more than adequate and you can buy it in bulk for half the price and the performance isn't even that big of a deal to me so. 308 is where it's at unless you're a 7mm-08 snob.
The 7mm-08 IS a .308, except actually good. .308 is an inefficient caliber, because it constantly needs to sacrifice MV for BC instead of just having both. Wind drift is a substantial issue for me considering I live in the mountains as well, so a fast 7 is King. Most of my shots are also pretty long distance. For all these reasons, 7mm-08 and 7x64 are infinitely better than .308. Picrel is my ballistic turret, my rifle is zero'd at 180m and each increment is an increase of 150 meters (2 = 330m, 3 = 480m, 4 = 630m). Furthest I've shot was a chamois at 612 meters with the Hornady 7mm-08 139gr
7mm-08 is just a modernised 7x57 Mauser anyway. 7x64 is generally more common here, but lots of old K98 7mm Mausers around as well. 6.5x57 and my personal schizo favourite 6.5x68 also enjoy a great following.
Was wondering which 7 you were talking about, would’ve guessed 7 Mauser since euro, but I don’t really know shit about what’s popular there.
I think he was referring to his rifles by their chamber rather than the actual cartridges. Both are perfectly acceptable rounds for hunting of course, and there are several 7mm out there, so not sure which one would even be being compared. I use a .284 (7mm short action) for most of my hunting.
>Both are perfectly acceptable rounds for hunting of course,
Not a fan of .308 - the ballistics are very lackluster compared to a 7 or a 6/6.5
And it's still not big enough to be considered a "large" meplat, either, so you don't even get the benefit of momentum from higher grain weights. 180gr is already nearing the absolute max for .308 when it comes to stabilising the projectile with the relatively slow 1:10/1:11 twist rates and let alone achieving halfway decent muzzle velocity at that point.
Katastrophe, I woaß
Spielhahn, i.e. Birkhahn
>Funny how many of the budget rifles will outshoot the high dollar shit.
They won't. You are just coping about not being able to afford the "high dollar shit". Most factory rifles manage to hold 1 MOA just fine these days, what you are paying a premium for is the bedding, materials, ergonomics, and modularity.
Im not trying to refute you. But he does have a point. A bedded ruger american shoots sub moa all day. Theyre just not as smooth of an action. Most hunting rifles now days will shot just as well in the field as their counter parts. Its mostly build quality that varies. Now on paper in ideal conditions id consider a bergara or cz over a savage axis or wetherbee. But ultimately that 400 meter shot in misty conditions is going to be a kill shot regardless of wich of those 4 rifles the hunter chooses. Provided he does his part.
> A bedded ruger american shoots sub moa all day.
Right, except I'm not going hunting with a rifle that costs less than my boots kek
Lol thats fine if thats how you role. Beautiful stock on that.
Roubd these parts you mostly see 80 dollar muk boots. Jeans and jackets with enough orange mixed in to be legal. Everybodys got cheap guns because many that hunt arent super crazy about it, they do it as tradition and cheap meat.
Avid bow hunters are a different fucking breed though. New, $800 dollar bow every season. Latest camoflage patterns. Gizmos to call deer. The works. Its neat, just kindof funny when you notice the trend.
Thank men!!!
That's cute, but I don't shoot paper & particle board
fuddy-five and dirty-dirty are basically non-existent here for hunting. The rainbow ballistics are useless in Alpine terrain where shots over 350m aren't uncommon at all
Das is a Wand.
meds
Someone else using your pic to larp then.
Fin by me, imitation is the highest form of flattery
geh leck, heißt warten, sonst ist die Symmetrie ruiniert, passt nicht an die Wand.
>don’t shoot paper
You should give it a try, it’s a lot of fun and great for honing fundamentals.
Shit anon, that pic was in some other thread recently and not from a Pole. You larping?
nice trophies !
is that an Auerhahn or a Birkhahn in the centre?
Why they need a new bow every year?
And the people who hunt with a bow probably view it as a hardcore hunting challenge
They dont need a new one. They just really like to buy them. Ive been using my same bow for 6 years and have luck 50% of the time. Its just the ones who are really into bow hunting that do that.
Many bow hunt for the challenge yes. Many also bow hunt for the seasonal extension. Because it starts much earlier than gun hunting. So you have more time for success even if its more difficult.
Didn't know know that, 900$ every year is a hefty price plus arrows and such I guess
But in Israel hunting is way more problematic, I assume because we are just small
Even boars that go around in cities and cause damages are considered protected animal
That sucks israelite bro. Youd think they would have a lottery system to atleast keep the population down. Seagulls here are protected and they are litteral rats of the sky.
Idk why some people pay for a new bow every year though. The one they had 3 years ago is just as effectove as the one they bought this year.
Its just shiny and new and has a cooler paint scheme i guess. What really gets me is the camoflage.
30 yearold mossy oak pants are just as effective now as they were then because deer cant make shapes or colors well.
I use old M81 woodland camies and a camo hat personally. Ive never been seen, im just hunting with old tech so i have to be more careful of my shots.
Seagulls are protected?
I guess it's not a good idea to allow people hunt them in places where people live, which is also where they gather because of human food
And there is something I love about high quality and reliable stuff that just work even after years and years even under a bit higher price tag, almost feels like a good old friend
And maybe they just like to collect them or like a new IPhone every year, although I less understand it about modern bows, in my opinion they look less aesthetic than old traditional ones and more like a workhorse
And old army camouflage look neat too
>except I'm not going hunting with a rifle that costs less than my boots
Why not? If it works, it works. Does your high-dollar gun suck you off too, or something?
I’m coping about anything, and don’t own any budget rifles. I have personally seen budget browning, savages, and tikka shoot sub moa, and this isn’t some secret either. My best shooting rifle I built on Remington 700 receiver, it’s a 22” barrel (proof, bull, stainless) and free floating stock. This is 4 rounds in 1” at 300’ with one flyer that was my fault, shot prone with sandbags. It cost me about a grand to put together.
Thats a handsome rifle anon. Wish you luck.
thanks, it serves me well.
leafanon, what ever happened to homosexualeau's ban on guns in canada?
same as the assault fear mongering in murica? much ado about nothing?
nice rifle btw
They banned certain types, bolt actions were not included in that unless they were over a certain amount of bore size/muzzle energy (ie .50cal or larger)
>leafanon, what ever happened to homosexualeau's ban on guns in canada?
the bill c-21 can't pass because they don't have the majority government. the conservatives will never vote for it. so it's been in limbo for two years. bolties gave never been the issue. they're going after firearms that have been used in mass shootings and pistols. even though only 3% of gun crime in Canada is committed by legal weapons and the rest is smuggled over the vast unprotected boarder from the states.
all my buddies and I spent almost ten grand in pistols at our gun club as soon as it was mentioned. should the conservatives get in the bill goes out the window and they'll ironically have helped the sport shooting and hunting industry in Canada. the buyback program would cost billions, can't remember the exact figure, and will do nothing to help gun crime
>Dust your rifle off. Oil it up and make sure its sighted correctly.
I can't rifle in my state, so I use an h&r ultra slug hunter, single shot rifled 20ga sabot slug gun with a scope to satisfy my tags. I clean 'em up with a buck 119 knife. I have enough money. I do it because it's a life skill, we need to control the deer population, and there's no antibiotics in the meat.
already got my buck, 4x4, killed with a 270. Couldn't find an elk during archery season, hoping to find one during rifle as I prefer elk to venison.
Don't I remember something about Mark Zuckerberg super vaxing all the deer populations with the Covid vax in order to make sure all the 'in the woods' folks get exposed to the vaccine?
I still have three roasts left from the one I shot a couple years ago, but man I dunno, the back straps were the only a part of it that tasted remotely good.
I dont like the thought of shooting mammals. I'll kill fish all day though.
Thats fair. It can sometimes be a messy ordeal. Im a poor fisherman personally.
I know hunters, for the most part, are great conservationists and I appreciate that. I just don't think I'd pull the trigger on woodland critters unless I needed to and I've never been put in that situation.
The only type of "hunting" I considered doing was trapping, but even snares can be messy and painful if they're not set up right. Awful stories about people leaving snares out and somebody's dog getting caught in one are shitty.
Fish on the other hand can all die and I will eat them all. It's easy and fast and yummy.
Already did. I got real lucky though, with this muley.
nicely done. I see snowcaps in the background. Is that colorado?
Southern interior BC, Canada. It was at about 2300m.
>2300m
if not a larp, holy fuck. my longest is in the 400yd range. What caliber did you use?
Lol no. I shot it at 100 yards. But it was 2300m elevation.
Using meters makes it sound pretty gay.
Do you meen altitude or distance with that 2300meters?
Altitude
Thats a hell of a climb.
Yeah I was trying to climb one of the oaks around me and decided to bring my .308 just incase. Brought my 2 dumb dogs so I was lucky to not spook it. But one of things I've learned hunting over the years around here is you'll see animals when you least expect it.
>peaks
>see shit when you least expect it.
Ive got this uncanny ability to wakeup from napping to a deer sneaking by every time.
I feel you bro. Animals are elusive sometimes but theyre not that stealthy.
holy shit you are actually retarded
Congrats anon.
Personally, no. But for those who do, and are hunting for meat and will not kill for the sake of killing, I wish you a good clean kill and hope you give thanks to the creature you've killed everyone you enjoy their meat.
>rifle hunting
i need to buy a rifle, but i hunt with a shotgun instead. it's all rolling hills and dense brush here in my part of the southeast, so no really long shots. plus shotguns are good for deer as well as small game.
12 gauge pump and foster slugs are goddamn freight trains in the woods. If you do okay with that id say its not a problem lol.
yes i am, rifle season opens tomorrow
I took the crossbow pill this year
You manage to tag anything? Ive been thinking of picking one up for the ease of use but my bow has served me well for 6 years now.
no, two evenings ago i got shot at a doe, but i missed, im new to bows and didnt know shooting down hill changes the aim point alot
Dang. Well, better luck next time anon.
im gonna go this evening, alot of deer come in my food plot. i have time, bow season here ends the last day of feb and you can shoot 5
Good luck anon. What state?
arkansas
I'm going nagger hunting
Captcha: HTXPG8
nope turkey is like 39 cents a lb at the store
>39 cents a lb
Is it 1923?
which round should i use tomorrow for opening day. it will be a 50yrd shot, im thinking i want to use my mosin because i haven't shot anything with it yet
Those PPUs are pretty devastating. I use the same brand and SP in my k31. Never had an issue.
Good luck anon.
>.308 rimmed commiecringe
>.30-06 shortfudd
>.308 weak and gay
Here's a tip, retard, there is other and better calibers than .308. Also, if the differences even mattered at 50 yards fucking kek.
6.5 is getting crazy popular around here. 7mm rem mag is still one of the most preferred though. I use a good ole 7.5 swiss with irons, though ive never had to shoot a deer beyond 200 yards.
.308 isnt the best but its ubiquitous.
6.5 sneedmore is massively overrated to be honest. It's too overbore. You are sacrificing a lot of MV for BC. 6 sneedmore is its hotter twin sister with nicer tits and a perfect innie, but I wouldn't use it for red stag personally.
Alternatively, 6.5 PRC is better than either for big game hunting.
Its just an observation is all. 6.5 is a very flat shooter.
I just think most use 308 or 7mm because its everywhere and not obscenely expensive.
45-70 or 30-30 is anothe example of being widely available, though 45-70 cosrs an arm and a leg just about everywhere for some reason.
Do any of you guys do anything with the animal byproducts? I keep the meat in the freezer but I have started to make leather from water filled with acorn tannins (I make acorn bread) and hoof glue too for extra scratch. It comes out to about 60$. The bones are thrown onto the compost pile along with chicken shit/egg shells and dried weeds/hay. All together I save a couple hundred dollars.
My uncle is a taxidermist so ive got several skins with fur on. Otherwise aside from the heart i just try to keep the gutpile free of any plastics and if possible, recover the projectile. Gutplie is always gone inside 2 days.
Sweet. I wish I knew a taxidermist so I could get some shit for free or at a slight discount.
No idea why but doing all the extra shit with the refuse and skins scratches a primal itch in my brain that is more fulfilling than playing vidya. No idea why but it does.
Its fun doing it the traditional way but its certainly work. I refuse to have uncle do it for free though. Ive seen what goes into a full mount and its work.
you should learn taxidermy from your uncle. as all the old men retire, it is becoming very expensive and a 1-2 year waits are normal
already been hunting turkey for a couple months. cant wait for deer season
anons, if you havent gone hunting, do it. like martial arts, it exercises both your body and your mind. you hike your gear out to a peaceful place in woods and concentrate all your senses on finding your prey. the combination of physical exertion, mental concentration, and the quiet beauty of nature is both relaxing and invigorating.
My only complaint is fighting the cold. But ive learned that toe warmers are supperior to hand warmers, because you can stick them to things. So i stick 2 on the inside of my jacket by my kidneys if im going to be sitting long. Its been an effective strategy, ive not been cold since i started doing so.
Youre always warm getting to where you need to go. Its when you stop moving thats a problem lol.
Hunting really is quite peaceful though.
Hunting near Mackinac Bridge in Michigan, the Cold can definitely be a bitch especially when it's so below freezing that your snot begins to freeze. I'll try out the toe warmer idea though, thanks anon. I start to hallucinate when it gets to 5:00 pm after sitting there for 12 hours, day in day out with 4 - 5 hours of sleep. Hear all kinds of shit and see stuff moving that i can't explain. It's no wonder folk lore exists.
Im near silver pine. Yea toe warmers are the bees knees. Need more heat? Stick two more somewhere with high blood flow.
Nuts getting cold? Stick one to the inside of ypur pants.
Nips freezing? Stick one dead center of your chest.
Keeping them near your kidneys keeps you from having to piss like a motherfucker too. Because your internals are atleast heated to some degree.
archery season opens the day before thanksgiving here in MO. rifle season does not open until after thanksgiving
I just poach a doe with a crossbow at night from my back porch. I can get it processed and in the freezer in about an hour. I ain’t buying a loicense to hunt the king’s deer.
I go to the range and shoot my gun, but that’s about it
No it's not political and the appropriate response to your permanent spamming would be a ban
Do it homosexual. You can have your black porn threads.
killing trespassing hunters is even better. they are dumber than elk. i have multiple real tree heads on my wall.
>Saving money by hunting is a viable strategy to save money
>Laughs in outfitter
Yeah, enjoy paying as much as you would spend on a luxury cruise just to squat for a few days in gear that costs almost as much as fuckin' gucci. You also have to have a big fucking truck to transport the game you kill (if you kill), also you have to have atleast a decent crossbow or rifle (hundreds if not thousands of dollars, no it will not pay for itself) and all of this is counting if your state doesn't have a tag lotto (10 year wait lol)
Eat shit, anon. Best you're going to do is hunt rabbit with a .22 or an air rifle.
Lol
Its hilarious how people assume hunting for meat is like trophy hunters they see on tv.
Hunting in blue jeans and a jacket. With a rifle. A bag of trail mix and a knife. In the midwest is very different than the rifle laiden elkhunters you see on tv.
Fuckin city folk, its unreal how little you know of life beyond your fucking pods.
nagger I live in a meth riddled desert.
Then theres no excuse for you not to know. Go hunt meth heads bro.
Most dangerous game is the best kind of game.
Now we're talking.
I literally sit on a stump in my work pants and a hoodie, I use a $400 ruger predator 308, no gear other than that. You've been gaslighted my nigga , you come off as a know it all preteen lol
Can you please keep your daddy from calling the internet police?
Can you please keep your daddy from calling the internet police?
Yes.
>You've been gaslighted my nigga
I live in a bureaucratic shithole in terms of big game hunting.
i was just about to say something similar, some people around here spend thousands of dollars on gear but considering chicken and pork are like $2/lb minimum one good sized deer will pay for a shitty rifle or a decent shotgun in terms of meat, and you don't really NEED any gear besides a gun - nobody hunted wearing fancy woodland camo back in the day. american indians hunted wearing leather and plain colored cloth, using 25lb draw weight bows, and they ate pretty good.
The goose hunters get me the most so far as that, thousands into blinds, decoys, gear, dogs, and you could just buy some goslings at the country store and drop maybe 100 bucks in feed a year and have more goose than you ever wanted.
and another thing in regards to the cost of hunting, you should learn how to butcher your own meat. the only thing you can't do at home with a knife and a hacksaw is make finely ground meat. but even then, you can mince it with a knife if you know what you're doing. one expense many people make for hunting is taking their kill to a processor. i've never done it, but i've heard it costs like $100 to have it broken down and packaged, which does still make it cheap compared to buying meat from a grocery store, but why not just take your time and learn to do it all yourself? if you really want ground venison, buy a meat grinder. i'm considering doing that myself because i want to learn to make sausages. otherwise though, it's dead easy to cut out steaks and roasts. just have to take your time and pay attention to the structure of the muscles.
last year the geese were so bad here you had to actively try not to run them over. i never bothered hunting waterfowl because of all the steel shot bullshit and it seems like a hassle.
Flying rats.
I have no time for hunting wild game. I gez free food at hospitals while looking specifically for israeli patients. Hunting israelites as healthcare worker is way more interesting. Every single israelite you find here is like true hem. They are rare. So far i was able to kill only couple of israeli patients during my work. Still im amazed no one found this pattern and im still free roaming through our socialistic healthcare system looking for last ill israelites in this country.
Yeah. I'm going to the same place I go every year for it. I can't wait for venison chili.
You a noodles or no noodles kind of guy?
No noodles.
Anon. Im sorry but idk if we can be friends lol.
Its amazing how chili varies by region in the US. Beans, no beans. Noodles, no noodles. Cheese, sour cream...cheese AND sour cream.
Kek, yeah it is. Im an all meat kind of guy, no beans, no noodles, no cheese, no sour cream.
I hope you atleast put celery and a couple bay leaves in.
Nope, nothing but meat.
Absolute madlad.
Buy a huge chest freezer, go to a ranch/farm where they breed cattle for meat sales. Buy a cow and take to local butcher. Have 2-3 years of meat for $700. Plus $200 to slaughter and chop into cuts. What's that 15 hours of your work week spent.
It's literally that simple, then hunt for enjoyment and score some more cheap meat or don't.
Thats certainly viable.
Didn't plan on this year because I expected to start a new job, but as that was postponed to January - Hell yes, next week the meat for next year is hunted. deer and sow here I come
308 win. Ummm! Venison.
Got two elk tags this year. Both are landowner vouchers from both my bosses and the season goes until Feb. 28th. Gonna have a full freezer this year.
I thought you guys stopped hunting for NNN.
Hunting season's over
Two. More. Weeks.
>until gun season
>in minecraft
Been thinking about buying one of those Ruger American Predators since I've got a can on the way. How does it shoot?
I own an 18 inch model and its a fucking tack driver. They kick pretty hard though, stock is so light theres nothing to absorb recoil. Theyre like 6 lbs without an optic.
It's pretty light to carry but heavy enough to mitigate recoil, overall probably the most accurate rifle I own. I hand load ammo to the optimal ogive though so I really haven't fired much factory ammunition with it.
Lol similar responses. I found the recoil to be stout even for being a 308. Could just be the ergos dont agree with me. Ive since put a magpul stock on mine and love it.
I’d like to go hunting, but I don’t own a hunting rifle or have any land to hunt on.
Public land my guy its free to use and open to public. Just have to solve the rifle issue. Make sure you pickup a free copy of the regulations when you finally get around to it.
No I didn't get drawn. If there's any left over tags I'd like to though. Nothing better than fresh venison for the family
Yes just starting the season off here. I don't like guns tho, pic rel.
Nicely done anon.
Insanely fast dog, relaxed as fuck too if you exercise them. Miss mine, RIP.
yeah people that havn't owned a working bred whippet, or any whippet won't understand what amazing animals they are.
Rip to yours too btw, bet she was a good one.
She was, a good run once or twice a day and and couch potato otherwise. She liked going for rats, mice, moles and with decent success, but can’t claim she was a working dog. That’s a handsome lad you’ve got.
I waited 15 years to get a pup from this bloodline. Triple line bred to sooty sam on the sire's side. A lot of lads that hunt in my country use crosses, but for me the pure whippet from the right line is the dog, even though it's a bit more fragile in the elements. The main thing that matters on the ground where I live with so much cover ( and also I prefer to hunt during the daytime, not with a lamp) is short bursts of acceleration. But he general hunting ability from this line, although it is somewhat controversial on some quarry, is off the charts, including the nose(tracking), pointing, retrieve and brains. One year of hell to train though, you american lads wouldn't understand with your gun dogs, brilliant as they are at their jobs, what goes into to training a running dog from old lines.
Many years ago around here (high plains, east of Rockies, bunch of treeless ranch land) my dad had a friend that used greyhound cross runners and some kind of wolfhound cross kill dogs to hunt coyotes, but I was a little shit then and only knew not to treat them as pets to play with when we were over there. Most working dogs here are cattle dogs, then as you correctly pointed out retrieving/flushing bird dogs. I’ve never seen a proper dog hunt for hares or fox, but have seen some of your countrymen use terriers for vermin control.
Whatever dogs your dads friend had were very good, to kill a fox usually involves some blood and wounds on the dog, the skill to kill a coyote would be another level entirely and would require a very special dog. I heard of a breed called the stag hound that were out of deerhounds over there. The modern wolfhound is only a recreation and a show pony. Them dogs were most likely out of scottish deerhound blood, which is closely related to the greyhound, but with more power.
You’re probably right then, this was the 80’s my memory could definitely be off.
I wonder if any of that line survived... Can't stress enough what it takes for a dog to be able to catch and kill a coyote.
What sort of cattle dogs you guys use? I'd bet there are some amazing dogs, but a pain in the ass if you don't have work for them. If I lived over there and wanted to hunt like I do here, I would find myself the right whippet or grey and cross her to one of those cattle dogs. Bet it would do anything that as asked of it.
Some border collie and Aussie sheep dog purists, but anymore a lot of mixed between the two. They have to have work, something to watch and harass, you are right. Nothing else can come close to them for herding livestock, 1 good dog will out work 6 men on horseback.
aussie dogs are unbeatable for that kind of work, insane dogs, some of them are at human levels of intelligence.
My brother is convinced he had one that could see at least some color, insanely smart for sure, and manipulative. They train you a bit as well, and past verbal commands some are maybe better at training other dogs for the work than the human is.
annoyingly manipulative. I also own a red kelpie cross.
The plan is to cross him to my whippet at some stage.
I forgot the other, usually the mix is Aussie and blue heeler.
He is an extra good boy. Rabbit stew is absolute favorite of mine.
cheers buddy. No feeling like watching my dog run on a hare.
And you need to pay around 300$ each year and data is harder to find
Going to try hunting snowshoe hare this season with my dog.
what breed of dog would you use up there?
I have a brittany myself but her coat isnt super great. Perfect size and theyre good pointers and retrievers. She looks retarted with her little jacket on but it keeps her warm and she doesnt mind so i dont worry about it.
I'm not a fan of the spaniel, to mental for me, but I knew a man here that worked britanny to his harris hawk. The are amazing flushing dogs and they work as a team with the hawks without killing them you see.
also. based. only an experienced man knows the value of a small dog that can do the same things as a big one. I'm rambling now, having a wee drink to myself here. Does she quarter?
American cocker spaniel
You can get a better deal buying a whole cow from a farm. Dumbass.
In a manner of speaking? I think this year is def the year.
deer are a pest here, I can hunt them all year with no limits
>rifle
>shotgun
>muzzle loader
>musket
>crossbow
>recurve
>compound
Whetever you use anon. Gotta pull it out and make sure it works good.
>no muzzle loader hunting
ngmi anon
This is just a White man remoralization thread for White American dudes, but I enjoy hunting as well so I’ll let it pass.
Well idk about that. I just posted a thread because itd be fun.
And anyway I don't know if I will ever plan to hunt, excepts for pests.
Because did you know the fact, that not only there are kosher animals, but it's also important the way how you kill them.
Fatally injured animals are not allowed
They must be killed humanely by Shechita, with very very sharp knife and in a particular way https://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/222242/israeli/How-Is-Shechita-Performed.htm
You still can use traps
And I do still plan to get a really really high tech bow somewhere in the future
The israelite selling kosher meat don’t actually do any of that shit, I’ve seen kosher meat leave slaughter house/packing plant with only beaners ever doing any of the work and no israelite to be found anywhere. It’s just a shakedown, some kike charges money to say it gets done then the consumer pays more for the label.
Maybe the only israeli person is the one doing it
But if you if there even not this, is just very sad
Also kosher is not only for israelites but also muslims which I guess tried to copy it but has less restricted rules
I live in cattle country, a few packing plants nearby, everyone knows the kosher shit is just a shakedown, kind of like selling organic shit that’s no different than the rest. Maybe it’s legit elsewhere, idk.
Poaching hunters would bring light to the exploitive practices had by hunters and slaughterhouses alike.
So I guess ill avoid meat if ill go abroad unless I know for sure it was done properly
Probably will visit the USA at some point
I saw a friend of mine field dress a deer once with such proficiency that made it so easy. I was trying not to throw up.
I still enjoyed the tender loins and liver that day though.
Rem 721?
You guys wait for "seasons"? Lmao cucks.
No. The caring of an animal is the mark of a true Aryan.
Speaking of marks! Begone Satan!
>Satan
Aren't you a little too old for fairy tales?
Nah. Killing big, stupid animals isn't for me. I'm more into perfecting the mass murder of zombies in CoD.
only bitches use snowmobiles and rifles to hunt
I only hunt with a slingshot.
fuck game wardens and fuck their orange bullshit
I'll wait for based PAs flintlock season. Removes most of the tards from the woods.
i mean to go hunting every year but never do. i get buck fever really bad. i need to pop my cherry.
PA has (or had) some very strange hunting laws compared us in MD
You just get used to them after a, lifetime of dealing with it. I think we are the only state though with a dedicated flintlock season.
I’ve heard of black powder and modern black powder season, never just flintlock.
Yeah it runs from Dec through most of January. We have a modern blackpowder season in October.
I remember, decades ago I was at a family thanksgiving up in the Shenandoah. One of my cousins brought over some deer he recently hunted. Was my first exposure to the more exotic meats.
there is grand total of ~1000 wild animals in europe
No. Most American hunting are on the edge to be a NEET, so they hunt. "for sport" they say... But it's cause the don't have food. These fuckers are the same posting about neets haha.
I don't need to Hunt cause im not a trailer boy. You Americans are so fucked beyond......... Everything normal... you need to go into the woods to get food.. Haha... It's hilarious..... And then you try to do like it's warfare so to don't look like poor idiots... Sorry you poorfags..
If I want deer? I buy it. And if I want ten deers, I buy tenn. All good portioned. Only poor little homosexuals need to go on the trail like 20000 years ago
I got everything to start hunting, even bought a rifle for small game (.22LR). I just never did it before and don't think I should venture myself alone, without any guide or without someone who already has experience. It's kinda hard to do it by oneself. This year I will just try making enough friends who are into hunting and see if the next year they're willing to invite me over and teach me the way.
get a dog to teach you.
Hunting is easier than retards make it seem. First you locate a food source the animal you want to kill likes. For deer this is corn and apples for example, apple orchards are especially good because apples get deer drunk and drunk things are easier to ambush and kill. Then you locate a fresh water source. Like a spring fed pond or creek. NOT a lake or river, as that water isn't safe to drink and animals know that.
Then you just position yourself somewhere between the two and even if you're a crosseyed retard with a 22lr you'll kill something every time.
I've been watching lots of video to try to get some knowledge before going myself. Someone told me it's illegal to hunt deer with a 22LR in Oh! Canada, so I've been also watching on how to skin and cut hares for fur and meat. Might just try to kill some of that this year to see how it works. Thanks for the tips.
No
what am I looking at?
Hunting. Ah yes, that is why I own a dozen rifles in different calibers, for the hunting. Yes, fuck the deer. I hunt. Yes.
Nah but my uncle will slip me some sausages if he has some to spare
