Vans are total thrash now. It’s honestly a shame seeing so many companies cuck out and use the cheapest materials for everything now. If it was only up to me I would only wear vans but now that they cucked I just can’t spend 75 bucks for a pair of shoes that will be ruined after one day of use. heck them. If anyone has an alternative suggestion that doesn’t suck I’m interested.

normal vans are $50 and if you want a premium pair you can just pickup Vaults which are made with thicker canvas, have leather/suade reinforcement, and a bigger thicker stronger midsole design. I have a feeling the Vaults I just picked up are going to outlast my OG Vans 3-fold. There’s no reason to hate the sneakers just cause they’re accessible unless they are obnoxious like Dunks

or go to a skateshop and buy pro vans. the regular models like slips on and old skools etc. are called classic skate now I think. they’ve got the good insoles

        • Anonymous says:

          I like Vaults the most
The midsole is chunkier with thicker rubber and "goes-up"/covers more of the canvas upper compared to the OG/Pro styles
I have a problem with my OG Authentics blowing out at the pinky toe because extremely wide feet (7.5EE) so I’m thinking the vaults will last much longer than classics
Also they don’t have Pro Authentics

I kinda like them but I really don’t want to drop that much money on them either and especially when most everyone is wearing them.

How are you fat stupids baking through vans in such a short time frame. I have pairs of classic vans with thin ass canvas that are like 7 years old.

      • Anonymous says:

Thos pieces of **** wouldn’t last 2 weeks if you were a real skater if I saw your poseur ass at the skatepark I’d put you in a giatine choke or arm bar before you could say whoops

Somewhere I read that vans are a little kid shoe and I hate that I can’t see it! They’re kinda right, but the simple eras or chukka lows are cool,

lol when it comes to new balance i love the 574, i think it’s their signature shoe and probably my favourite sneaker. that said literally everything else they’ve made is meh for me.

    • Anonymous says:

998s abd 997s are pretty sweet and a more "mature" streetwear option and 550s are alright but literally everything else is "alright"

    • Anonymous says:

I feel like Vans took a nosedive in quality about ten years ago.

I can vouch for the 574. I have a pair that was my daily beater for about a decade. Comfy, durable and understated. Worn them into the ground.

I don’t think I can get away with Vans at 29 with a slight receding hairline and a constant stubble. It’s just not it for me

    • Anonymous says:

That’s me but I’m slightly older. You can still pull off Vans very reasonably but stick to wearing the black pair or grey. White vans have just not been for me, they dirty very quickly. Any colour other than black or grey is a no go.

There was a time when vans in picrel were extremely unpopular. I remember getting them for under $40 from Shoe Palace. The only other kid who had them at my high school was this super shy nerdy girl. She later became an ABG, got arrested, and she works as a brow artist now.

Vans used to be really low quality. Idk if they’re still like that now. I used to go through a pair in like 6 months – a year. The outsole isn’t as thick as it looks. They develop holes very quickly.

    • Anonymous says:

Same with Reebok Classic leather shoes, they used to be 2 for $40 at Pay Less Shoes, my mom would buy the pair for me because I was normal boy who just wanted to pay and be dirty.

      >When did it all go wrong.

      • Anonymous says:

It came and went. There was a time when Reeboks were popular and people were getting their shoes jacked when they stepped out of the store in San Jose.

I kind of remember when they were unpopular and you could find them at Sears or Mervyns.

The Asian girls who dye their hair blonde and get tattoos and only date tall white boys

I never knew this. Thank you for clarification

if you’re an adult with a job time to take the vans off

            >has an ok office job
            >not plum but ok
            >wears vans for work
            >so do other people in the office
            Nah I’m good bro

My most current pair of Vans. They’ve been as good as all of my last pairs but the best I’ve had were the Calderone type they made which was thicker and more cushioned. The pop cush sole in my new pair are fine

I like vans when it’s bogo I used to wear 1 pair casualy other pair for dressing up. I had a pair of new balances a while back, they were so comfy and the feel of not being a try hard hype beast. Now I’m looking for some newbalances under 100 maybe mostly black.

This is how it was for me. Vans originally were a good value price and they looked and could go with a lot of clothing. I’d wear them to my shop job and then I’d wear them with most other things as just paired well. They fell apart of course eventually but I’ve remained buying since. My very last pair were store bought and cost me £70. But my last pair before then were just £40 and they’ve lasted me quite some time.
New Balance were also great here in the UK price wise but now the prices have really shot up on a few of the designs. I bought a pair for less than £40 and they were one of the comfiest shoes I’ve worn

Are there any shoes with a similar size/shape as vans? I have size 11.5 US feet and other shoes make me look like I’m wearing clown shoes

    • Anonymous says:

Try Etnies. Kind of similar to Vans. I’d steer you towards Converse too depends on how you feel on the rubber cap at the toe.
The one pair you should try, if you can get hold of them, are a pair of Nike SB Janoskis.

      • Anonymous says:

I see people on this forum dick ride janoskis, i had pair of the pros as a kid cause i skated. They were great skate shoes but i got bullied for wearing them

        • Anonymous says:

I wore Janoskis myself and they were great skate shoes for me. Never got the hate for them. I live in the UK too and no one gave me shit for wearing them though most kids wore air walk and vans etc
Best pair of Janoskis I had were the grey canvas pair and they looked great and lasted me a long time. I’d go back to Janoski but they’re as rare as dinosaur shite now and the colours I’ve seen of them are crap.

I have purchased some special model of vans and they are the most beautiful casual shoes I ever got. Only problem is the material is so cheap that after one raining day they discolored. I hecking hecking hecking hate stupid companies using the worst materials to maximize profits. I would be willing to pay $200 for the exact same pair of shoes but with good materials.

What’s the most comfy shoe brand? Is it Skechers? I’m looking to buy a new shoe but would like something that looks nice but is also comfortable.

I had a pair of the canvas high tops skates well and weee pretty sturdy for canvas skate shoes blew out laces like crazy thoughever

I once bought a pair of NB for skating and although they were a bit too stiff and tight for a while, they felt really good to skate in. Vans slip-ons were nice too. I’ve also tried Emerica and really liked the high top version of Jerry Hsu’s shoe. They look really nice, but feel kind of cheap. Vans are kind of gay tbh, but I guess that’s just because everyone wears them and everyone acts like a gay. Doesn’t really matter though, I’ll wear any shoe so long as I like the color and feel, and especially if it’s free. What size shoe you were, nigga?

I’ve also tried Converse chuck and hecks (not for skating), and they make me feel like a dainty little b***h. Shits are too tight and narrow.

    • Anonymous says:

I know they do the skate shoe range (which I’ve never tried) but I’ve skated in regular chucks and they just don’t feel right to skate in. I’ve hurt myself more times wearing chucks than I did my old stannies, jannies and vans. I have a friend who skates who swears by NB. Never had a problem and he doesn’t walk like he’s at risk of pulling a muscle. Think they’re 1010s, very cushioned

iv’e had the same pair of vans for the last 5 years now and only about a month ago I noticed they started taking on a small bit of water.

      I quite like these ngl

I don’t know. I don’t completely hate what he’s wearing. Plus I don’t think short socks automatically look better with shorts than long socks. Like here I think long socks look much better and cleaner

I like both looks but I’m drawn to the sock look more. I guess there’s an argument to say the “sockless” look is a little too plain and not eye catching. The sock look, and his colour scheme for his fit, is eye catching
