They’ve made as many or arguably more goth albums than The Cure, a band that is given that label despite only having 4 actual gothic rock albums: the self-titled debut (also overlaps with post-punk) Fire Dances, Night Time, Brighter Than a Thousand Suns and Outside the Gate. The latter two are the most synth heavy of their records, but still undeniably fit within the canon of late 80s goth music. Just like most of the original goth bands though, they started out in the era of punk transitioning to post-punk, a time when the term “goth” was not being used for any of the bands that are typically considered the original or progenitors of the scene (Joy Division, Siouxsie, The Cure, Bauhaus). Seeing as Killing Joke formed in 1978 and released their first LP in 1980, they were developing their own style of dark post-punk at exactly the same time; it doesn’t matter much whether or not they were involved with the “positive punk” scene directly during that time (although they did know and I think even perform with Joy Division a few times), as many bands simply developed independently within their local music scenes, in contrast to the more clearly established goth scene that came about in the mid 80s with second wave bands like The Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim and The Mission.

Even after Killing Joke broke away from their post-punk roots in the 90s by moving to a more industrial rock/metal sound, there are still fragments of gothic rock sound in their later discography.
This is especially evident on the albums Pandemonium, Democracy, Absolute Dissent, MMXII and Pylon, which oftentimes sound like a very heavy mashup version of the songs they were making on the debut and Night Time. Comparing their 80s goth/post-punk songs The Wait, Frenzy, Love Like Blood, Eighties, Twilight of the Mortal and The Calling to 90s and later songs, Black Moon, Aeon, European Super State, In Cythera and Euphoria, the latter group of songs undoubtedly take influence from their predecessors in spite of their generally heavier guitar sound.

Well, what do you know? You explain to me in detail why Killing Joke are not a goth band, if you’re so convinced I’m misinformed.

You barely listen to any goth music, mostly what you listen to is baby’s first goth but it’s actually just new wave and new age. Go listen to more music, people have been recommending real goth music to you for months but you don’t even bother to try listening, it’s obvious you post here not because you like music but because you are a coomer and you have no friends

What do you consider “real” goth music? You do know my music charts are either pulling from my most scribbled songs or albums that I consider my favorite? I don’t make a judgement on a new album until I have listened to it fully at least a few times. If you don’t believe I listen to obscure enough goth music I would be more than happily to list bands and albums that are my favorites along with new ones that I am currently checking out.

I’ve seen your charts, it’s all poser stuff. There is so much more out there and you are wasting time being obsessed with killing joke and echo, it’s obviously just some coomer fascination and you are pretending to give a shit about music but you clearly don’t

I don’t understand their logic and reasoning behind what stays up and what is pruned, I just try to not be obnoxious to the board and I never have problems

So basically if I say it's so, it's so.
Dark Post Punk doesn't equal Goth.
I never said it was, but the distinction between “dark” post-punk and goth is barely definable anyway. Every source you read has differing information on what makes a band goth and which bands are considered goth. If a ducking band like The Damned which started out as a purely punk band can be strapped with the goth label because of their one gothier album Phantasmagoria, it’s absurd to not also call Killing Joke goth for their album Night Time even disregarding any other album of theirs, as that album is indisputably in the style.
They had better style and cared about their aesthetics which obviously made them better looking. An ugly person with a unique style will always be more attractive than an average looking person with a shitty basic style

Does Suede count as goth? Because I'd fuck ~1992 Brett Anderson

Killing Joke aren't Goth.
Have a nice day.
Yes they are.
They went through a goth period. They weren't exclusively goth
Let your shitty duplicate thread die, you dumb cunt
Then explain to me in concise terms why they're goth.
