I dont think apple is indicative of having money, the majority of people I work with are terrible with money, ie always talking about being broke, never heard of a 401k, etc. Yet they always have the newest iPhone, its NOT paid off. They do years long finance plans and/or some kind of monthly deal with their data provider. hecking idiots. Its like financing a $3,000 car. They think they’re saving money by spending less in this very moment
Quite the opposite. Smart watches are really shit status symbols. In general I don’t care for them. They need to be charged, have no impressive complications or craftsmanship, depreciate in value, and do nothing better than the paired phone that you surely carry in your pocket.
All the kids have them now. It’s just a watch. For time and fitness tracking.
>nd do nothing better than the paired phone that you surely carry in your pocket.
I like that I don’t need to dig my phone out of my pocket any more. Everything shows up on the watch. My LTE model doesn’t even need the phone.
>I like that I don’t need to dig my phone out of my pocket any more. Everything shows up on the watch.
You can only see the hour, when a message arrives and little more. I don’t think it’s comfortable to watch a video there, write to answer a message or read some website.
Smartwatches are the ultimate in NPCcore. They’re not interesting and they don’t have any intricate internal mechanisms to them. They’re just an extension of your phone for when you’re too lazy to pull it out of your pocket.
You check the time every 5 seconds? That’s just a dumb argument. You pay a monthly subscription for a watch to show you what your phone in your pocket will show you
>You pay a monthly subscription for a watch to show you what your phone in your pocket will show you
How high were you when you came up with this?

Watches aren’t for telling time. They’re pretty hebrewelry for men to wear. Andy Warhol wore his watches unwound. I do the same because idgaf. If this alludes you then you are probably the dude in this pic
Lecturer at Law School stressed an inexpensive watch over ever touching your phone to look at the time (since it looks like you’re doing heck all otherwise). Double for meetings and court appearances.
It spills over into social life nowadays too, since most other people check the time on their phone. It’s a discreet way to keep your eye on the clock.
I vastly prefer the looks of a traditional watch, but I love my smartwatch (a Galaxy Watch 4) for three reasons.
1. I work from home (IT), and the hourly reminders to stretch are genuinely helpful during hyper-focused days. It’s also great for quickly reading a two-factor text for logins, same for checking the urgency of a text while in a meeting.
2. It’s nice in the gym and gives me another metric to track. Seeing numbers go up is a great motivation push, and the convenience of skipping songs and running timers is fantastic. For hiking and mountain biking, it’s fun to track routes, distances, and times too. Not to mention the usefulness of the GPS for tough trails.
3. It’s great for weed anxiety, same for anxiety in general. If I smoke too much (I smoke some nights to unwind before bed), I have a lot of heart-related anxiety that springs up. With the watch, I can get my bpm and blood ox at any time, defusing the anxiety. If I try to measure manually with my hand, my brain takes it as less accurate since I’m high.
All in all, it’s a great casual watch that I can pick up and use any time, but I lean towards my Automatics when I’m going out of the house for non-gym things. It helps me differentiate between work life and actual life, which has become more important as I’ve worked from home more.
I also enjoy accessories in general a lot and usually do two rings + a bracelet in addition to the watch, so your mileage may vary. Picking which accessories to wear when going out is a lot of fun to me, so the Automatics get a lot of use.
I think that the apple watch only looks good on athletic people while doing active stuff. The modern design really clashes with normal clothes, like a shirt in your pic related.
Also I find smart watches in general quite distasteful by having the screen constantly flashing notifications.
So smart watches are aesthetically unappealing and unless you’re a health nut or you must be available to respond immediately to every notification, I don’t see the purpose of wearing one of those.
I find even a swatch or a f91w much more aesthetically pleasing
No. Apple might be expensive compared to other things, but it’s still normie core.
It’s still I am poor but look at my apple product, so that means I am soo rich.
I would call pretentious someone with a watch out of the price range of the vast majority. 20k or so.
Apple watches are just shit. Coomsumer garbage.
Get yerself a casio for $20 :o)

tbh they might actually be saving money (relative to what they buy), given the rate of inflation. the real problem is spending way above their means.
Interest-free loan paid off over two years. Pretty good deal. If you ain’t a total spaz, phone lasts longer than that.
Mystery Ranch pack. /based/

They’re for women.
I don’t even notice them so if you’re buying them as a status symbol or a fashion accessory you’re doing it wrong
they’re literally normie core
I’d say peak reddit/’I got my first professional job’ tier
Peak consumer

Probably the least "risky" thing you can wear, not pretentious at all
Itt coping boomers
Mechanical watches in 2022 are wrist fedoras
Wearing a watch at all nowadays is dumb unless you need one for work. When do you not have your phone on you?
I don’t pull out my phone every 5 seconds

Do you think I have ever thought about a lawyer or corporate people at any point in time
The heck did you call my Apple Watch mate a hecking wrist fedora how about this wrist in your face you hecking piece of shit you
No. I sold mine however because I thought it was ugly, I don’t like having to charge my watch, and it’s a crappy music player.
Smart watches all look pretty much identical following the same 2 or 3 designs.
>Smart watches all look pretty much identical following the same 2 or 3 designs.
not the pixel watch
>Are Apple Watches pretentious
No. Apple is just a marker of ignorance and low self-esteem.

No, apple stuff isn’t pretentious and I’m tired of pretending it is. It is a decent fitness tracker.

I dont think they actually have any sensors even tho they are readouts all over the face of it.
Apple is gay and smart watches are cringe
I got the new Ultra model as my degenerate G-Shock, but will never replace my collezione of mechanical watches.
Only model worth getting is the ultra, everything else is shit.
>off grid gps
He’s always being tracked so how is that off grid
Tell us you don’t know how GPS works.
