I had to read I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings in high school. Most of it was overly detailed descriptions of her getting raped by her stepdad. Honest to God, I think it could qualify as an erotica with the amount of time and detail dedicated to the rape. I quit 25% of the way through and used Spark Notes to get through the rest. Ended up getting an A on the paper, but the book was total garbage.

More broadly, it seems like anything written by a black tends to always come back to being black. This is true outside of the US as well, in countries where there is no history of blacks being mistreated. Might be different in actual literature from Africa since they can't really talk about how bad it is being black when everyone is black. Anyway, such a lack of inspiration or any capacity for thought or speculation beyond the confines of your own skin is a very bad sign, and sort of reinforces a lot of the claims about their intellectual abilities

Slaves lived better than many blacks do now. Hell, slaves lived more comfortable lives than many white frontiersman who chose to leave the coasts and push West.
Lynched blacks in America since 1850 is only like four thousand, which frankly isn't a lot. It's also includes the plenty of cases where I'm sure the negro deserved it, honestly. Extrajudicial violence is bad, sure, but it's certain not irregular in human history. I mean, if a gang of blacks existed in 1850 stealing from target, murdering others, slinging crack, I could totally understand how some one would rustle up a posse and just put an end to it. People back then weren't pushovers—life was too hard for everyone to tolerate bullshit like we do now.
Most of all these issues would be solved if one or the other simply stop inflicting suffering on others.
