Anons I need advice
>freshman in college studying electrical engineering
>minimal coding experience
>want to join robotics team
>I’m afraid that I will lack to much experience and will end up being nuisance to everyone or be ostracized
What have your experiences been with robotic teams and would you recommend I join mine
Just do eet.
Go ahead! They will likely take ypu up on the offer and you might learn a thing or two. Pick up coding and robotic stuff to help out and go on to design the next SkyNet
You can do it anon!
no college freshman is expected to know anything about anything
Some of the people who are joining robotics team seem to know a lot. I feel like type of people who do pursue robotics team usually already had a knack for it beforehand
And what does one usually do in a robotics team anon
How do I pick up on coding or robotics ?
Any good resources
don't worry, it's not like you're joing Boston Dynamics or anything, right? Just go in and see what's uo, then work from there. That the group may contain 20 y.o. autists with 25 years of experience really have nothing to do with you, just deal with the problems as they come.
just don't be an annoying retard but given this green text, fat chance
stop being a pussy and just do it, you're willing to skip a learning opportunity because you're afraid you suck? how do you get to the point you don't suck? hint: by doing shit
also hint, I'm an EE and I hire EEs and compsci folks, I would never hire a new grad that didn't have experience. You should be doing internships/co-ops, and you need to have an edge to even get those compared to your peers, so you better hustle and join that team. This is your final warning before you graduate and become another jobless NEET.
> I would never hire a new grad that didn't have experience
I hate this world
you're competing with every other new grad, the ones that actually interned and did co-ops naturally have a massive edge, usually a full year or more of work experience. school does not teach you how to function on a real corporate project
I'm employeed in a different field, regardless entry level requirements creep should not be tolerated or seen as 'normal'. There are a limited number of engineering companies that offer a few intern positions, we should not be locking out people for getting the short straw, that is fucked up
robotics was some of my most enjoyable times in life, super fulfilling seeing your creation come to life, plus got me into coding initially with robot-c
i'm with the other anons, fucking do it! if you dislike it, no harm in leaving to try something new, best of luck anon!
Contact the team and ask them what you should learn on your own instead of asking internet strangers for guesses
Anon don’t go robotic teams are full of weirdos
>regretted my choice
I've been on a robotics team myself, we even went to some competitions and got very good results. Not everyone on the team needs to know how to do everything. You can contribute according to your skill set, you don't need to program if that isn't your thing.
What do I contribute? I know nothing
Well why do you want to join then, what do you plan to do? Do you just want to watch and learn, or what?
How do you expect to learn anything if you don't join dingus?
Just join it, don't look at it as something that you have to prove you're already godtier at, its a learning experience. Interact with your peers in the robotics team and build up a rapport with them, you'll learn a lot along the way.
