It WAS a good language for webshit backend, and the only reason for that was because webshit backend used to be a much different DX than it is now. There was no "cloud" that make it all retard-proof. Back then you had to choose between easy mode web hosting that only offered PHP, and doing everything yourself in a VPS/dedicated server.
That said: it was still saner than fucking Node.
What a load of crap, how are you gonna write a REST api with the correct HTTP codes, sanitization and integrated paging and so on, I'll have it done in 10 minutes mind you
>correct HTTP codes
just predefine an enum or consts with correct codes and equivalent names and use them, what's so hard?
there is also a static method for flight that responds with json >sanitization and integrated paging
php has built in sanitization, and sql can return just the amount of data you need

Based. It's like people have forgotten how to program without the aid of a massive framework.
It's gotten to the point where I ask what language someone uses, they reply "node" or "Laravel" or "conda". PHP is SO easy and comfortable to make working shit with from nil.
Someone should write a framework on top of Laravel, then another framework on top of that.
I will not be satisfied until we get < 1 request per second.
It's this site, but "web frameworks" are loosely defined, so a full batteries included framework like laravel is the same as just a wrap around HTTP "framework"

I hope I'll be done with PHP projects soon and can go back to something else.
The language is fine (and outright great for web development), but it's all horrible legacy code created by students many years ago.
I'm in charge of upgrading and extending these projects and while I have some freedom to clean this shit up, there are limits.
It's all very tiresome.
Why is he so smug?
Because he is superior and he knows it.
Oh come on, it's a good language for webshit backend, I use it at least once in a year for my father's company's website...
It's very similar to C++ maybe that's why I'm so comfy with it...
ignore the hrt enthusiasts seething at everything non-nodejs

Yeah, PHP was the only language you could host for free/cheap. That's what made it popular.
>Reddit meme template
>Insert thing I don't like
You need to hang yourself
>the God
Say "God" or "the gods", what kind of ESL retardation is "the God"?
there is only one God, thus the God and I want to emphasize on that
Ok Ahmad
amen
havent done it in years
who's winning between 'fony and 'ravel
People literally wrote bachelor theses on this topic, don't expect an easy answer anytime soon...
>bachelor theses
wow the epitome of knowledge
juse use a simple router like flightphp and write everything yourself

What do you think?
Someone should write a framework on top of Laravel, then another framework on top of that.

Both are trash anon
huge difference, still curious what the other variables are, to what point it had to process the requests and what server they're using
told you niggas that vanilla PHP is KING
>fewer requests/sec and twice the latency of java activej
>dancer2 is 2k requests/sec
Perlbros...
it's time to seethe 'til armageddon occurs, PerlBros
which benchmarking site is that?

https://web-frameworks-benchmark.netlify.app/result
It doesn't just have a no-framework version?
nobody uses fony outside the french ministry of agriculture or some shit like that
Laravel is so comfy bros
PHP programming is incredibly comfy when you program in OOP-style.
Can you share a project on github where this is demonstrated?
long live PHP
literally no tranny writes in it, if you see PHP as the main language of a repo you know it's a white guy
Trannies ARE white guys...
They used to be, now they're something more like chemically castrated goblins.
these php threads are always made by the same person
this person may or may not be the same as the author of some other threads regularly popping up here, namely criticizing linux
looks like an elephant with a nail up his ass
if terry were to do backend he'd use PHP
He would probably create his own scripting language and call it HolyScript or something.
>tfw comfy php dev job
same, very cool
I can't use PHP without symfony anymore though
absolutely based
keep up the good work, famalam
